This is so illustrative...

There's a girl I know through work. When I first saw her, I was like 'meh'. Not particularly into her. My interactions with her have probably brought us a tad closer, and she seems like an OK human, but still I'm like 'meh'.

But then recently, I discovered she used to be a model, and still does a little modeling from time to time. And upon learning that, what happened in my head? "Oh, society regards her as a model. She must be desirable."

Now all of a sudden, I perceive her as having way more value, and she seems way more attractive. The face I looked at, that seemed pretty average to me at first glace, now looks more like a model face. My perception of sex with her before was that of something that probably wouldn't be that great, and now it's "Oh, I bet she knows how to be hot in bed."

I've had this experience my whole life, from both sides. It was always some super shallow shit, having to do with these kind of perceptions, that made me want to fuck the women I was around. And the other way too: If through some circumstance, I wound up coming off as someone high value to women I was around, for some incredibly shallow and even circumstantial reason, those women got into me, and never otherwise.

I think we're just fucking monkeys. Our monkey brains guide us to these feelings, and we can't reason our way into them, or out of them. Maybe we're better off starting from knowing that about ourselves and admitting it to ourselves, and dispensing with all the other BS we tell ourselves about what makes us attracted to other people?

So for a group of men who claim “Watch what women do, ignore what they say”, they seem to be very hung up on the fact WOMEN CLAIM most guys are ugly, and yet ignore that women DO MESSAGE average and ugly dudes. Just not the extremely ugly guys. And even then, percentage wise, the super ugly guys got more messages than the super ugly girls.

So when it comes to looks, OkCupid shows women aren’t as picky as men. Women might CLAIM to be pickier, but their messaging habits show the opposite. Watch they do, not what they say, remember?

The typical counter argument: BUT WOMEN GET MORE MESSAGES IN GENERAL THAN MEN DO!

So this was never about women’s pickiness. This was about attention. This is about men being upset that women get more attention on these sites than men. You were just hoping that women finding most men ugly would be the right excuse for it. That’s a good example of men not saying what they mean and communicating covertly.

Now, the third comment isn’t a common complaint, but I wanted to address it to show similarities between SJWs and the manosphere.

You know how SJWs calls everyone sexist, racist, rape culture, white supremacist, without understand what those words mean?

Same thing when guys here whine about pickiness.Picky means: fastidious, especially excessively so.

I've accepted that I need therapy, or maybe a support group.

I'm don't think I'm clinically depressed. I'm just not able to cope with the stress and sadness I feel trying to be a caretaker for my elderly parents.

My mom is recovering from a series of strokes. I moved to Texas to help. Two months later COVID hit. My social life, autonomy, and peace of mind, gone!

I was prepared to help her with her physical recovery, but nothing prepared me for the problems with emotional regulation and decision making.

I'm not a good caretaker and I don't want to do it anymore. I love her but seeing her struggle with things is heartbreaking. And the level of care she needs is exhausting. I want my old life back and that feels selfish of me.

On the bright side, I've been kicking ass at work. And I started feeling better once I admitted to myself that I need help.

Anyways, hope everyone is looking out for one another and taking care of their mental health.

I think, just like high n count women, men with little to no romantic experience are ruined emotionally and physically. They've never been able to develop pair bonding ability and dating skills necessary to men, after certain age those abilities cannot be developed from scratch, so there's no evidence the damage is impermanent.

You know what got me out of falling completely into redpill thinking?

Having just about every disadvantage in the dating market (half-Asian, engineer, too nice for my own good, aspie, an autoimmune disorder, grew up in an abusive religious household) yet I still have had a fairly healthy love life and I found someone in my life who I legit plan to marry.

My ex-friends waive it off like "Oh she's not a 'top-tier' woman" or "You just got really lucky" but yeah, I think at its core there's gotta be something about simply finding the one that fits you in more than just looks.

(And my girlfriend is pretty attractive too on top of it. Js.)

Yeah, redpill has a general point in the dating market subconscious, but I feel like not every guy has to give in to it.

And I suppose my brain would rather parse the dynamics of the reality rather than starting from a partisan perspective as OP did with “progressive position.” If that layer is a reality of the dynamics then it will arise in the objective examination organically.

At least that would be my approach when conducting a supply chain gap analysis. I think some believe this approach doesn’t lead to urgency, which may or not be true depending.

Funny also that mostly men die during sex or literally masturbating to death. Apparently, overstimulation of the sympathetic nervous system can lead to cardiac arrest. The only reasons I can think of that it doesn't happen to women at all is that women either don't orgasm from actual sex and therefore no overstimulation, or that women do much less in bed and therefore no overstimulation.

Why is it every time an age gap thread is posted there’s some guy going “well I’m 25 and date 20 year olds!!” like 5 years isn’t an age gap dude. Hell even 10 years isn’t an age gap depending on the ages (no one would care if a 30yo dated a 40yo). When women say “age gap” they’re thinking teens/early 20s dating 30+ or dating someone old enough to be your mom/dad.

And don’t give me the “well FDS said my 3 year gap is predatory!!” we all know they’re insane. You are being disingenuous if you think normal people/society has problems with gaps of a few years.

Today is our 9th anniversary! We are not really "celebrating" today due to some circumstances beyond our control, but, well, here we are.

Never in those 9 years have I regretted this relationship for one moment. He is everything I have ever wanted in a man and more. I couldn't imagine going through life without him. I've made a lot of mistakes in my life damnit but this is one thing I got right. :-)
