Asap rocky has said both colorist and racist things. His comment on dark skin black women and red lipstick turned me off from him forever. But I think it speaks loud and clear on Rihanna as a person. Any woman who would still date and procreate with a man who has said things such as that either shares his ideals, or simply doesn't care. I have long disconnected myself from celebrities who support, engage, and lay with black men who demean black women. Nicki, Rihanna. ASAP Rocky was convicted of aggravated assault and jailed only a couple of years ago. I wish Rihanna would stop settling for these violent men, and now she’s subjecting her child to a lifetime of having a violent father, like that’s going to be a good influence in their lives.

His colorist, anti-black , classist views makes me question her views as well. And after seeing them take photos with nicki and her nasty ass rapist husband, I think rihanna is a LVW too. So honestly, this might be a perfect match.

Women with wealth + previous abusive relationships/childhood witnessing DV = going for men with less money, so they can maintain control and lead in the relationship and will always come out on top when shit goes left. Unpopular Opinion: her not marrying Rocky is a good thing. She has way more to lose. Based off of the interviews and photos, it's clear that he is obsessed with her. I agree to some extent (especially about ASAP Rocky not being on her level) but I do think the danger of being a BM is less pronounced for a woman like Rihanna whose fame and money insulate her from some of the worst outcomes.

Also, by not getting married, she’s protecting her money from ASAP should the situation turn sour.

Many in the CF communities echo this very thought about ALL pregnancies, not just hers. You see a vibrant, active, ambitious woman just killing it out in the world, making great strides, then bam, pregnancy, and all of a sudden, her world just shrinks. Not all women, but far too many. I get that some women really want kids, but for those of us who just never did, what we see is a woman whose life just got very small, very domestic, very quickly.

Even if this child is wanted and planned, it still means such a sea change in her body, her lifestyle, her routines, her whole life, and it's major stress. Friendships change and shift, too. As u/whiskey_and_oreos said, I'd rather see her doing it on her own. She has the money and the support system, or she can hire good help. May she find her way that works best for her.

Really was disappointed and confused at Rihanna when she announced this. She was music queen, but then really got my respect when she started branching out with Fenty Beauty and her Savage Fenty lingerie line - both brands broke barriers and she really pushed for more inclusivity- a huge step in the right direction in my opinion. From a business standpoint though it was also genius - she is a successful businesswoman who created multiple streams of income.

Then seeing her pregnant with ASAP as the father... the dude sounds like a colorist LVM ... I remember his one song "f***ing problem" the lyrics are " I love bad bitches that's my fuckin problem And yeah I like to fuck I got a fuckin problem".

Also really not a fan of women in general having babies with men when they aren't married - especially celebrities. She is setting a bad example for other women who look up to her. It's especially important for women (that aren't rich and famous) to have the protections of marriage when you have kids - especially if the father has more assets, a better paying job, etc - have a prenup to make sure you and the kids will be okay if he cheats or leaves.

She doesn't need to have a legally binding contract with somebody who would benefit more than her from that legally binding contract.

I see this as freedom and strength.

My view is probably colored by my nationality where we've got a fairly strong social system in support of single parents and most families are in some way or another blended where 'the village' does their part incl. grandparents and aunts/uncles.

Having a child while single is for me a sign of strength, not weakness.

Marriage may not be her end goal as many have stated above to protect her assets. I would assume she’s concerned more with vibes and loving vs. how successful a man is — but who knows.
