I don’t think anybody should lose control of what they can do with their own body (with obvious exceptions of third trimester abortions unless it will kill the mother). About a year and a half back, 2020/2021 we had the same situation in Poland, though the status quo was overturned not by the courts but by the Parliment. We had a somewhat sensible compromise that allowed abortions under certain circumstances like threat to the mother’s life. For strictly religious reasons that was changed and abortions became illegal. Sure, they spoke a lot about how it will still be possible to have the procedure if it’s justified but next to no-one believed that.

So tens of thousands of people, women and men, young and old, rich and poor, no matter the profession or religion (yeah, a lot of religious people thought it was too much), hell, we weren’t even on the same page when it came to abortion itself- some wanted it left at the compromise, some to make it more available, we came out and said how absolutely fucking stupid that was and that we, the people, the actual sovereign in a democracy do not want that.

Than it got “organised”, an official movement was made and suddenly a lot of people got told they are not allowed to speak up about these problems because they are men and/or try to capitalise on the whole thing, in relation to many politicians speaking out. So we stopped. And the outrage died out, cause if they don’t want our help- I’m not going to force my way where they don’t want me. And a lot of women also got discouraged since suddenly they didn’t get support from around them but were told who could support them.

So yeah. Don’t let that fire die out. I’m completely pro-choice, in a lot of matters but yeah- wasn’t going to struggle in a fight where my help was not welcome and met with adversity

Even though I am pro choice, I support the court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade. In America, fathers don’t have any reproductive rights, so it makes sense that the playing field be equaled. I also think that it will reduce the power feminism has on the Supreme Court, and open the way for more of men’s rights.

The purpose of SCOTUS is not to write laws. So many people in the US have been worried about SCOTUS judges dieing, and being replaced by thier political opponents. You do realize that overturning Roe Vs Wade is actually a good thing? It means that SCOTUS has pushed back and said "we are no longer going to write your laws, we are getting back to our purpose".

People in support of abortion have had decades to pass legislature to properly support reproductive rights for women, its a pity no one talks about mens reproductive rights, but thats a subject for another time. You know why they didn't? They didn't want to shake the boat. If they did try to pass some kind of legislature to ban/legalize abortion, it would cost either side votes. Why fix something when they have a band aid in place, right? Thats a problem for someone else in furture, they just need to worry about being elected in another 2/4 years.

If you want to be mad, great, write to your members in congress/senate in support of some legislature. And if you are smart about it, make sure to let them know that you support it up to what point. Because if you support killing a baby who is at 8-9 months, you really need to be realistic and get a reality check.

Personally I feel that abortion should be allowed up to 12 weeks, but no further except in extreme cases where the mother is at risk, due to a recent change in health, or the fetus/baby is no longer viable.
