While what I said for the title isn’t phrased the best way possible, it got your attention so here’s what I mean.

I have heard many, many women complain about their boyfriend or husband not doing enough around the house and they will fall back to the issue of “I’m not their mom” or other similar sayings claiming to not want a child. But while these women who complain about this are prevalent, so too are the women who want a man who will pay for all their bills, who won’t ask them to make an income of any sort, who will buy them birthday and Christmas presents, who will spoil them and take care of them.

That sounds a lot like a Father to me. You have to work constantly for someone else to not have to make any money, show them nearly unconditional love, and protect them from harm. These are the things many women wish to find in a man. While this isn’t bad, it isn’t something we should expect for nothing.

I see relationships as give and take, if you’re looking at the classic stay at home wife style one anyway. One person does the work at home, one person does the work outside the home to provide for the household. This type of situation doesn’t stand up unless one person is making a lot of money and the other wants to be a sty at home spouse but that’s a different situation.

Women don’t want to be mothers to their partners, and men don’t want to be fathers to their partners. Just make sure you know what the dynamic both parties want and go with it. If the man is to provide and protect and the woman isn’t expected to work a job to make money, then don’t complain about the cooking and cleaning. If you both are working, then find a way to divide the house work so you both find it fair and even.
