I've seen a lot of guys on body building and gym communities talk about how they struggle to bulk because they can't find the right food and I've found the opposite, I consume around 3.5k calories a day and do it with ease. Eating half a kilo of chicken, 4 eggs, protein shake, a couple of protein bars and other rich foods help, but I've never found it too difficult.

The average human eats between 2k-2.5k calories a day to put into perspective how much I eat.

I think part of the issue with feminism and marriage is when some women become obsessed with social prominence. Marriage is not really about social status. For nuclear family societies, it's about a specific, asymmetrical set of guarantees between a man and a woman reflecting their slightly different emotional and biological needs from each other.

I was just debating women taking a man's last name for marriage.

I've realized there's a bigger issue that is almost never discussed related to social prominence.

In a hypothetical, primal human society - or in a Rousseauian sense a "pure" society - there's no reason why women couldn't have social preeminence. Why bigtime, major decision makers couldn't be women.

In modern, Western society, women by this stage of history can of course be leaders and be prominent. There is no explicit social prohibition against women being at the heights of any institution or body.

However, marriage is not necessarily a power structure, but it kind of poses as one. In marriage, reflecting biological concerns, a man is making an investment in a woman, while the woman is "showing up" for that investment. Again, please see the forest for the trees. This isn't about power, it's about our junk in our pants works differently and when it comes to sex - spoilers - men and women are not the same. Marriage is built around those differences, not necessarily around who ought to have power or not.

But here's the rub, because human sexuality asks for males to invest and for women to "show up", it creates a divergence between men and women romantically and socially where investment and material concerns becomes a male dominated affair, and social and emotional concerns become a female dominated affair. Argue with me if you want, but as societies grow wealthy, men and women tend to diverge culturally, whereas in poor societies gender differences are more blurred. Basically, when people can afford to be their true selves, women tend to start acting more "female" and men tend to start acting more "male".

Okay, so here's what people don't talk about.

In the pure, primal society, there's no reason why the "material/logical" emphasis needs to dominate leadership. It's all just a big party in nature. The social/emotional could just as easily dominate.

There's nothing in the human machine that says that social/emotional leadership is illegitimate. There's no reason to think that male-dominated arenas should rule society. Female-dominated arenas could easily dominate decision making. Note that I'm saying female-dominated, not female exclusive. We're not saying all men and women are this way or that way.

So what happens is that women have a desire to be leaders. They have ambition, and a will to have social preeminence. Just like many men do. We have no reason, from the pure/primal perspective, to think that women shouldn't feel this way.

However, in modern, technological society, the necessity of material/logical thinking - the monumental value of it - means that male-dominated arenas hold the vast majority of social/political preeminence and power. And Western culture is largely oriented around the material/logical.

We know this is true because we have seen the vast effort to increase female participation in STEM. We know this is a gender power differential concern.

So, I have a theory that the feminist concern with marriage is that the structure of marriage which centers around male investment in a woman HAPPENS to reflect the domination of material/logical arenas in Western society. That there's NOTHING WRONG with males being "head of household" in marriages and it is NOT indicative of women lacking power.

However, because we life in a material/logical society, the structure of marriage HAPPENS to reinforce male/female power imbalance. Or at least it appears that way.

So women, whose ambition leads them to desire greater social prominence and power, view marriage as this emblem of male dominance.

When, it's not marriage that's the problem, it's the fact that men end up having a power advantage in material/logical societies.

Women are seeking social prominence and power by discarding marriage and replacing it with pseudo-marriage. So we're ruining families and having massive divorce. But getting rid of marriage isn't giving women power, it's just giving them this impression culturally that their being liberated from male power.

We haven't changed from a logical/material society, but we have destroyed our families and relationships in the process of seeking to.

I am not sure if fat girls or guys struggle more because of their weight.

On one hand, men tend to try and marry up in looks, they place a premium on looks at the expense of other traits so being overweight really hits a girl's SMV hard.

Buuuut.... when so many girls are overweight, is it really that big of a problem. A lot of guys are fat too. There is the whole scarcity where men are horny, motivated, and there are multiple men chasing each women.

I know overweight men who get girl friends. Anecdotally it does not seem to hurt men as much as women.

But with body positivity, thick curvy bodies, and the general rise of looks threshold for men. With dating apps, serial dating, men are increasingly expected to also look good nowadays. So I can imagine men being hurt more too.

In a hypothetical scenario, let's say a popular guy at work just got a dui and a few months in lockup. Pretty much every woman now hates this guy and is ignored.

Whew some men are so transparent they will really try & see if you have low standards and are willing to accept the bare minimum in order to get sex & then be mad when the tricks don’t work. As much as combat sport are like, the best hobby ever, I must say the one thing about it is that it absolutely SUCKS to train them when you have a work schedule that constantly changes

I'm lucky that I currently have my work hours set specifically to allow me time to do so, but I'm not so sure how long I can maintain that as I look for better jobs.

One thing I don't wanna do is throw away one of my few reasons for waking up in the morning for the sake of more money
