So today I was in the nail salon. Getting my nails done.

A lady walks in; not typically attractive and she was over weight. She was speaking to the nail tech and told a story. I will outline it below.

She was telling the Nail Tech (NT) that she met a guy. They lived together in the country side now, she is happy but she made a mistake. She ended up going to see a former "friend" and thought they could just be friends until he made a move on her, that she then accepted. She told her guy that her "friend" made moves. Her guy told her that she needs to choose between him or the other one, if not, he is leaving.

She then outlines her reasons for staying in her words. "The other guy is fun, charming and attractive. I really like him but, my guy is secure. My friends and family have told me to stick with him since he is a better fit for my future even though the other guy is alot more fun. I need someone to build a future with and he is it" The nail tech interrupts her and says well, if you like the other guy you should be with him. She proceeds to say that it doesn't matter much about liking especially if it means in the future they will struggle. He is only good, for a good time. But I am still conflicted. Should I see the other guy on the side?

After this I put my earphones back in and thought about this sub and what drags men to it. I get it. Especially if you're the guy she decides to settle with because you are more secure. It does something to your self esteem - of course, if you know that is what is happening.

I will tell you though, that the looks around the salon and the side eyes she was getting meant that many women disapproved of her actions. Me being one of them.

But I also thought; When you are looking for a career, many of us settle. Some would love to travel the world, be an artist, a musician etc but the up and down lifestyle isn't for everyone. Most people end up being in their 9-5 routine for the security.

Men do this too. When they are looking for a partner; yes they may look for a hot, kind of dumb girl to sleep around with - but when they are ready, they want to find the submissive, can hold a conversation, secure (whether it's in likelyhood to divorce or cheat) everyone is looking out for themselves and a partner that can supply those needs with the less risk (whatever that means to them) as possible.

So men. I get why being the secure option is an insult. Especially since you're comparing your value to someone who is most likely hotter than you. It's a self esteem hit. But, do you understand why some women choose to do so?

Do you think there is an abundance of men who can fulfill both of those needs that a woman seem to want - Hot and secure? If not, what do you think then is the best thing to do.

Btw - I am not asking whether you like it or not. I'm asking if you understand why and I would like to point I am not defending her. What she is doing is fucked up and doesn't deserve the other guy especially if she is cheating.
