Edit: I guess I have to edit in that I personally don’t think you need to be in the top 10-20%. That’s what TRP and it’s audience believes. I’m arguing that the logic of TRP will harm most of it’s audience and maybe benefit a small portion.

I understand that the manosphere and TRP aren’t the exact same. But they seem to have many overlapping values and audiences. I’m just going to say TRP since it’s easier than saying TRP/manosphere everytime.

TRP seems to overall promote the idea that you need to become part of the top 10-20% of men in order to be happy and fulfilled in life. And you’re much less likely to if you aren’t part of the top 10-20%. Now I’m sure there’s probably some members of TRP that don’t believe that. But it seems to be the mainstream view by those who follow it and/or produce content related to it despite what some members of TRP here will likely say isn’t the message. This is further reinforced by talking points frequently made such as how most men are invisible to women and how women are hypergamous. Meaning if you’re not in the top 10-20%, then there’s much more men who are “better options” that she could leave you for. “You need to be irreplaceable to her” is also commonly said. And although it might not be directly said, the message is that if you aren’t significantly above average, then you’re replaceable. It’s also frequently said that anyone can be rich. Which I understand the message is that there aren’t systems in place that force you to stay poor or middle class. But it could also easily be interpreted as that if you aren’t wealthy or rich, then you’re somehow a failure. Since TRP is full of struggling men, I think a lot more of it’s audience will arive at that conclusion than some might think.

The issue is that if you’re promoting the idea that you need to be in the top 10-20%, then that means 80-90% aren’t going to get there. And if the audience of TRP believes that you’ll severely struggle as an “average man” and aren’t able to achieve the accolades of a “high value man,” then how is that not going to negatively impact the mental health of the majority of it’s audience? It seems odd to me how TRP says it cares about mens mental health yet says you’re basically not good enough to women if you aren’t a “high value man.” I find it odd how it’s commonly argued by TRP how much more men commit suicide than women. But yet it fails to acknowledge that its messages are likely contributing to that.

Even if we lived in a world where everyone could be in what is now the top 10-20% without economic consequences, since TRP continuously says women are hypergamous, then that just means women would find other ways to be selective. Because what is now the top 10-20% would just be an average man in this hypothetical. So how can TRP say it’s helping men when statistically only 10-20% will overall achieve what it says you need to achieve while also saying you’re probably fucked if you don’t achieve these things?
