I see a lot of discussions here where people say a relationship only works if someone is leading or in charge. Usually they mean the man.

I might be younger than most people here, but from what I have seen and experienced, the healthiest relationships do not feel hierarchical. They feel cooperative.

There are different strengths and roles, but not a fixed authority. It feels more like a very deep friendship where both people choose each other and respect each other equally.

If a relationship only works when one person has control, is that actually stability or just dependence framed as structure

I am genuinely curious why people think hierarchy is necessary for long term relationships.
