Since I don't want to doxx myself, let me just say I work in language services. For 10.5 of the last 11 years, I've been the sole earner in my household. AI has pretty much stolen my work away, so I'm seeing what to do next.

It really sucks, because things were going well, and I thought they were going to continue to go well and get even better, which motivated our decision to have a kid a little less than four years ago.

It's work that tickles my need for something to hyperfixate on, but i find that talking about it really bores people, or its hard to explain. My work is lore-heavy (highly technical). I count my blessings but I wish I had a simpler job so that I wouldnt have to go on this tirade when I meet new people.

Not the target man of the question, but I think you’ll be hard pressed to find a blue collar guy with a dirty job on Reddit shitposting about women benefiting from men’s labor.

I work a boring, white collar job that could probably disappear tomorrow with minimal real world impact. I do not feel bad living off of the hard work of men with dangerous jobs. I feel thankful that people are willing to do them and sad that some people are doing them because they don’t have other options.

We’re seeing education as a whole turn towards favoring women so I’d say it’s not surprising we’re seeing fewer NEET women and more NEET men. Hopefully the institutional pendulum swings back to a better balance at some point and we have fewer NEETs regardless of gender.

IT Project manager now, but have done technical before (solutions architect/analyst/engineer/support).

As for the 'dirty job', I used to work as a loader at FedEx for years and sometimes up to 35h+/week with no benefits. Probably the hardest job I've ever had, and the only one I have seen people walk (as in walk off the job) first day. I would not do it again, but I would recommend to any young lad who needs some cash. No, I do not feel bad. I just paid an electrician and his crew $$$$ to install a new 240V dryer socket and subpanel in my condo.

I do feel bad about the working conditions and pay of manual laborers in less developed countries though. They are also a big reason many of us have the standards of living we do today. I would never disparage them or describe them as useless the way many online feminists talk about men.

Its hard to explain what I do. But I work in renewable energy. Its kind of a hybrid role. So I get my hands dirty most days and also get to chill in AC some other days

I dont say those kind of statements since its not like single moms aren’t working. But I think this is more of a political issue than a man vs woman issue. At least when it comes to federal social programs. Where blue states are contributing most of the funding to federal programs that are used more by red states

I built and run the analytical data layer brain for a 15k employee company with 6bil annual revenue. So 15k employees run around and do mostly what my algorithms told execs they should do.

When these systems break me and teams of men fix them and were basically on call all the time

Im currently building a cost of sales forecast model to project out the next quarter of costs. This is required for earnings call forward looking guidance. The PE that owns my company and brought me in to make the place less tech backward requires accurate forward guidance to be able to go public. So an ipo go/nogo rests on the quality of my team's work. If you read financial news you will probably come across my projections sometime in 2027.

I actually make more running my options trading model than my day job at this point but id like to complete this project and get my rsus before starting my firm. Shooting for the end of the year.

i'm not working a hard/dirty/dangerous job. my work is very comfortable but quite niche so i'm not gonna go into specifics here.

no, i don't feel bad because i contribute to society. i don't care about who's draining the tax payer dollars personally because i don't pay much in taxes (i give quite a bit to charity though and i volunteer). i'm very glad that i get to decide how the money and work i contribute to society is spent and allocated.

regardless, men still contribute more to the tax system as a group compared to women and receive less social benefits. maybe that's gonna change one day and i bet plenty of women will use it as some sort of argument then too.

I don't know if I qualify to answer the first question, as I wouldn't say that women survive off the hard work of men in such a combative way, though I'm sure no matter how I'd put it, it would end up offending some progressives.

I certainly laugh whenever I hear women say they don't need men for society to function, because that isn't true. We need each other.

I am an elementary school teacher, a profession that is over 80% women dominated.

Now, the point that needs to be clarified is that I am thankful for the work men and women do in sectors that are much harder, phsyically anyway, than my own. I also recognize that in many of these jobs, men do the lion's share. I don't feel bad about benefiting from their efforts, but that's mainly because I also dont deny those efforts exist and are put forth by men mostly.

I've never heard a man complain about women not doing those jobs UNLESS he was responding to some dumb "we don't need men" statement or some bitching that was already going on.

I'm not working a directly useful job for society but I do make tools for public services, confortable desk job though, I have kids. And I'd be part of those who claim that men's contribution and value to society is invisibilised to women.

My argument:

By invisibilising I mean that to get access to the "goods and services" that women typically produce in society, you'll need to socialize with a woman. And to get access to the "goods and services" that men typically produce, you'll not have to deal with any of them.

It goes so deep that women can also get sperm donation without ever seeing the man, while men need to pay and be in contact with a surrogate mom, if it's even allowed. It's this logic for almost everything.

So when women are like "what are men good for?", it's a fallacious point because men are good for making it easy to get and buy everything they typically produce. The very mere reason why they can wonder what's men importance in society is men who worked for it.

I do feel like most of our issues are class issues not gender war issues though. So while I don't like people having bullshit jobs, if they can just pull money out of a rich man's pocket for free I'm still somewhat fine.

And I won't say anything like women's contribution isn't important.

NEET since May and until August, but I'd argue both men and women are propped up by men if we're referring solely to the labor intensive work that they're more likely to do in the first place. Factoring in other industries like hospitality and care would be a different story though.

The issue isn’t a woman or man doing the dangerous , difficult, and often thankless work that our society is dependent on.

It’s about women not being appreciative or even cognizant about how much each of us depend on all of it.

Right now in the culture it’s women who are spouting off about how unnecessary men are so it’s fair to point out the reality that men make up the vast majority of the people who create, build and maintain the infrastructure we’d all perish without.

It’s a actually a compliment to these workers that they are so dependable and proficient at these jobs that otherwise intelligent people can be deluded into thinking they aren’t needed

Truth be told men in my experience a lot more attuned to the true important jobs.

Men can’t seriously say women aren’t necessary maybe it’s because we know we can’t create children but the necessity of men isn’t that in everyone’s face.

In a free market economy, I don’t feel bad about benefiting from someone’s work because they chose that work and I paid them for it.

I don’t feel sorry for husbands who are the primary breadwinner if that’s what they agreed to.

I think we should strive for people to be able to take care of themselves and minimize reliance on tax payer handouts, that applying to both men and women.

At the point in my life, although I do occasional legal work for friends, I am an investor and I own three companies (not huge ones but there are three of them and they make a tidy profit to support my lurid adventures as a middle-age playboy.)

No, because I was once one of them. I have had a couple of jobs that involved a certain amount of physical risk, although it was really low-probability (but high impact.)

Aside from that if - I am assuming you are female - you and I were randomly together somewhere, and you/we were suddenly in danger, it would be a societal expectation of me to render assistance, step between you and the wolf/mugger/pack of wild dogs, swim out to save you - even if I didn't know you from Adam...er...well Eve, and even if I was protecting you from the results of your own foolishness.

Usually that manifests in much more mundane ways - last month I came upon a woman of, oh, I will say 45, but who had clearly watched her figure. She and her daughter were struggling with some suitcases, so I, as a Well Brought Up Person, walked over and inquired if they wanted some assistance.

They did.

So ofc for me this was nothing and I carried their cases with ease and at the end the mom - who clearly understood the niceties involved - sang my praises and said smth to the effect of "thank god the was a man to help us!" yada-yada. We had a pleasant exchange and I complimented them on their beauty (in context this was fine, and well-received), and then we went on our separate ways.

The point is, ofc, that you can think of this as the "vig." Being polite, saying thank you - and I realize that women do have to say this a lot - and not whining about how oppressed you are, because I assure you we are not interested.

Originally I wanted to get into engineering but 1. college is too fucking expensive and 2. they openly gave women all the preferences in financial aid and stuck me with trying to take out all kinds of student loans so I said fuck that and got a job instead with my dad.

I’m a doctor so I’m not exactly a pillar of our infrastructure like you are saying.

I will say that my tax bracket pays the most % of income though. And because of my income I am often excluded from the very program my money funds. Like I couldn’t qualify for state aid for my autistic daughter.

Not so much a testament about dating/mating, more a gripe about how unfair it is. But I remind myself it could be worse. At least I can afford better healthcare than the state would provide.

I do construction and some odd jobs . I do want a job that pays more but I don't have money for education.

, the people who work such jobs are all men. Everyday I see around thirty men do cleaning of a big sewage drain and they earn a measly amount. If they didn't do that work for Even a single day the whole area would smell like shit .

During Covid I made friends with construction workers and men who do such jobs , from drivers to vegetable vendors and so many others one thing common between all of us was we all were males and poor. And there is no recognition or growth in such jobs. You either do it or let the other guy take your position.

I started working at the age of 16 as a PC technician, which allowed me to save some money for higher education. Since then I spent 9 years total in training and temporary part-time employments, until finally getting employed full-time as a software and hardware engineer. Within 9 years, I took part in construction of a large hospital, worked in groceries logistics, as a software and hardware junior/QC in industrial and environmental automation and cybersecurity. As of now, I make ultra-high-speed parallel computation systems that produce results that human lives depend on. I am banned from saying more by NDA. Recently I had to cut 4 days and 2 nights out of my vacation not to leave a buggy piece of code in repo's main branch; locating it took two days and two nights, two more days to argue with colleagues on how to embed the fix into wider system. As a side gig, I design, build, test, and sell custom equipment for large swimming pools and treatment plants (both drinking water and wastewater). I make 3 median incomes relative to my wider area and 2.5 to my city, support two more family members and pay mortgage. In short, I pay roughly as much in taxes as an average person earns.

Hazards I encountered in my career include but are not limited to: heavy weights, blunt trauma, insta-blinding and/or scorching high-concentrated laser radiation, corrosive and/or flammable toxic acids and cleaning agents, electrocutions, lots of electrocutions, FRIGGIN' LOTS of electrocutions, field work on unprepared sites in inadequate workwear, high-power ("leaves you sterile" levels) electromagnetic radiation, sleep deprivation, and "leaves you deaf for hours" level loud noise (one of the places I worked in had under-insulated reference wind tunnel). At various stages in my life I had to stay and work for several days in a row in places that had no beds, no showers, no running water, and/or no flush toilet.

Disabled NEET on Australian disability income for Autism and Agoraphobia who has Volunteered at Thrift Store and helped-out at Disability Support Group.

Both men and women contribute to society, but past Male strength was necessary, and for some Industrial and Farm work continues to maintain our globalised societies. And women in Education, Medical, Hospitality, etc.

While three women could be hired for every man for any of the labor jobs, it’s still obviously more efficient for one man to do such jobs instead.
