Never found success in dating, but I find myself less and less interested in what seems to be the majority of women around me. Perhaps its because I am still in college surrounded by much younger people than me (somewhat late-ish bloomer) but there's just... so little to be excited about. Even when the time finally comes that all my hard work pays off and I become able to attract attention from women, I'm not really sure that I want it anymore, at least not from the women around me.

Look in today's world, dating is extremely hard for most men and anyone who says otherwise is a liar and an idiot. The absolute most that an everyday guy is going to get is maybe a few dates where he paid for everything and it didn't really go anywhere favorable to not just her.

As far as what you're talking about it all depends on what any particular man is looking for a dating wise. Whether he's looking for a serious girlfriend just dating casually or he just looking for sex.

As far as cold approaching being a social faux pas in places where alcohol isn't being served, that's not true at all not in the slightest. A man just has to change up his cold approaching tactics. It may not necessarily be him that a woman he cold approaches rejecting but his approach that she's rejecting.

When a man is going to call the police she has to absolutely make sure that his looks on her top shape along with his hygiene and that he's working out regularly.

I’m not sure I agree. In my experience “high value” people attract other “high value” people. Almost all the women I’ve dated have been college educated, cultured, speak multiple languages, have good careers with money / investments of their own and don’t need a guy to pay for anything, and most of the women in my extended circle of friends are like that.

I have close friends back home in the USA from my college fraternity days and I have international friends that I made living in different countries, and they’re all pretty much the same “high value”, good financial / intellectual caliber type people.

It’s just a matter of the social circles you evolve in and the people you’re around.

Or to put it in a gender neutral way: dating is harder when you have higher standards, as a fewer people can meet those standards. But (most of the time), having higher standards is key for ensuring a happier relationship.

Similarly, it is easy to fill an open job if you are willing to hire anyone. But vetting for qualifications and personality fit means you are less likely to experience high turnover.

TLDR: standards make stuff harder to do, but more likely to last.

Some women genuinely do go to clubs just to dance with friends, or because their friends invited them out and it’s a rarity. I enjoy dancing and have liked themed nights since I was 18- I’ve literally never hooked up with someone from a nightclub.

Bars often offer trivia nights, open mic nights, board games and beers. And even at dive bars you could potentially meet someone cool who just happens to be there.

Focus less on discounting people because of where you are location wise and just pay attention to the content of the character rather than making assumptions. If you don’t know how to recognize an alcoholic or trashy person vs a normal person having a fun night out— that’s more on you and soft social skills you should hone.

So firstly, I wasn't a trashy girl, and I ended up at bars many times and night-clubs a few times. The bars it was because my brother was going to them with his girlfriend and I was trying to be supportive, get to know her better, and just generally be a good sister who kept her brother safe from crazy beans stuff.

Similarly, in college I got my arm twisted several times by the women I was friends with into going with them to be more fun which was really just code to keep them safe from guys hounding them. And I'd do it because just because dancing in a club isn't my idea of fun, doesn't mean I don't think it could be for another girl who happens to love dancing and a few drinks. And I'd rather she get home safe than not even if it means I'm uncomfortable for a few hours of the night a few times a month.

I also went several times wondering if it was something I might like. I like music. I'm not good at dancing and that makes me feel awkward, but I admit surrounded by a few good female friends, it can be an awful lot of fun. So yes, we absolutely end up there under duress. You just have to look for the girl who looks a little awkward or under-duress.

I also have to say, a lot of the girls who did go happily weren't trash and will make great moms and wives someday. Liking dancing is real. Liking chaotic environments is real. Enjoying alcohol in the safety of friends is real. Liking music is real. Wanting to be young for a few hours of the week isn't some major commentary on you as a total package. Most of the girls I knew drinking and clubbing were not sleeping with lots of guys or even any guys and ended up in loyal committed relationships.

But, assuming you won't believe this, I've said it once and I'll say it again:

Meet women at your hobbies or hobbies adjacent to the ones you do. If you work-out, try yoga. If you like nerd hobby shit, look in the theater/artsy communities, if you bake, look at cooking. Most people find their partners through communities or communities which overlap with their own.

In germany we have "Studentenkneipen" Bars for university students/academics. Its realy easy, trashy people go the the club and the other to those places. Or art thingys open air movie night with old movies. Art galleries and so on. Age doesnt matter all age groups are there. Young academics and older ones. Or in the trashy places its the same.

Then we have Coffe Shoops and cocktail bars for "finer people" or "Saufkneipen" (drinking bars) for trashy people.

Its actually realy realy easy in germany to find people that fit good together. There are many different tiers of Bars where every kind of person can find fitting people.

Literally every guy and girl I know in their early to mid 20s goes out to bars on at least a semi-regular basis. Clubs are a little less common, but it's still an occasional thing for a lot of people.

When you step into a semi-decent bar, a lot of the people in there are the ones I'm describing. A much smaller portion are these habitual party animals you're envisioning. Obviously it might be different in a really rough, shithole dive bar, but that's not where most young professionals are hanging out on the weekend.

Yeah. TBH as a woman, I was always kinda amazed by women who were willing to be "picked up" or "taken home" by some random guy in a bar. Not amazed in a good way.. They are creating so much risk for themselves by getting drunk in public, especially because of their willingness to trust others - particularly men. If I am in a bar, it is because a friend dragged me there and I have my guard WAY up.

To be fair though, I honestly view men who look for women at bars to be just as low value as the women who go there looking for "dates". Probably trying to get it in and likely to be a weirdo and have STDs.

My partner and I met through mutual friends. We knew each other for a few years prior to dating. Maybe I am too risk averse, but risk adversity does make for a good mother.

Dating is a waste of time for men since women these days don't deserve the same kind of consideration that even their mother's generation did.

I think that men should stop looking for long term relationships in the West. The quality of women doesn't support such an aim.

Focus on yourself, get personally better with health and skills being the main things to aim for, focus on work, and enjoy your personal time by increasing your non professional skills like hobbies.

For sex, if you can't take care of things yourself, budget for hookers. I don't recommend them as they expose you, even with precautions, to disease and the seedy side of the society that brings its own risks in the current climate. However, they are more honest and safer than dating. One night stands and affairs are too risky, and in any case, will cheapen you as a person.

Keep dealings with women strictly limited to work, or utilitarian aspects like services you might pay for. Do not ever get personal with them. You will live to regret that if you do. If they flirt, pretend not to notice. Ensure that you have cameras wherever you work, or live. Keep communications in written form to the extent you can. You are dealing with amoral and unethical creatures that won't bat an eyelid before deciding to me-too you. In every he-said-she-said, the he always loses. As the levels of desperation among trashy women rise due to men dropping out, their tactics and the social laws that support them will become more and more outrageous. Keep yourself informed about your legal risk and modify protocols when there are changes in the risk outlook.

The above lifestyle can get lonely, but it is the only way to navigate the present day society. Especially in the West, the supply of decent women is practically non-existent.

Comparing promiscuity to being a drug addict doesn't make sense as promiscuity doesn't indicate addictive behavior. In fact someone who is promiscuous might reject and decline to spend time with a higher percentage of men than someone in a marriage.

You can have places with bad security and poor management where fights breakout and people are overserved and sloshing old beer everywhere. You have places that are flawlessly maintained, no tolerance policies for harassment, play movies on a wall and have live bands. You have places with well produced DJ-nights and various rooms in the venue with different energy levels (one being a relaxed room with quieter music, one being a dance room with more rave vibes).

You have barcades, gaming cafes, night clubs that are more like jazz lounges, bars that play folk music and host puppy visiting hours from local shelters.

You have goth nights that play old horror movies in black and white and light everything with candles, you have western venues with line dancing, you have night clubs with ballroom dancing and salsa nights. You have events for bookish types, those for sophisticated fashion types, and everything in between.

You have old-school disco-type venues that tend to attract and older crowd and play dance hits from prior decades. You have ice skating and rollerblade/roller skate venues that have adult nights and singles nights, and yes you have churches having strawberry socials, you have hippies having bonfire parties, you have conservative groups hosting formal dinners, you have leftist groups hosting formal dinners, you have colleges hosting open to the public dinner and a movie and a discussion nights, you have libraries and science centers holding adult events, and everything in between.

If you're in a big city you have singles groups that do wine tastings or gourmet restaurant outings (and MeetUps).

You just have to look, ask around, or in some cases, start them yourself (usually if you're in a small city).
