Hey guys, So I stayed over at my girl's place last night. Early this morning I heard a knock on the door, tried to fall asleep and next thing I hear the key turn. And within moments a guy walks in the bedroom. He apologizes immediately and says he just wants his gymbag thats under my g/f's bed. My g.f offers no explanation and when I finally ask she says that Tony, he comes and works out at my condo's gym sometimes. She says he was in my snapchat once. Well this is weird but she is so blaze about it I dont know what to do but.I have to get to work. I get dressed. on my way out , guess who I see in the living room Tony. He is there playing video-games on the couch, he said the gym is opening later today since its a Sunday and he didn't know. I left him there. Whats going on here ? Sounds like my ex, he had one female friend that used to like calling him at 10 at night "just to chat while driving home from work", apparently about her gynecological issues (he'd never take these calls when I was around, but would tell me all about the stuff they apparently talked about - I don't discuss my gynecological concerns with any of my male friends, I guess that makes me weird.)

His other female friend would send him half naked pictures of herself "to get his opinion on her workout progress", also because they were such close friends. And yet in the nine years we dated (I know, slap me) apparently they weren't close enough friends to be worth actually introducing to me. And when I expressed discomfort with these girls he tried to make it out as if I was the jealous type and that he felt he had to hide his friendships with them from me because of that...? I do have a friend who has a key to my house, but it's just in case something happens to me, someone can look after my cats. I have a pet sitter scheduled, but if I die in a plane crash, I need my animals to be looked after, and I trust him to do this. I used to care for his cats as well when we were neighbors. But anything like OP has mentioned is just weird.

Here's what's going on:

The "friend" (#1) is the pickmeisha whose "relationship" with the guy never got off the ground. However, she thinks that if she allows him to see the OP, eventually, he will cherish her value and dump the OP. After all, men have needs.

I always picture myself and my male best friend in posts about situations like this. My best friend and I are as close as two friends could possibly be, and I can’t fathom ever having the kind of dynamic or arrangement that the OP’s boyfriend has with his woman friend. Never ever!

Super inappropriate boundaries.., I couldn’t imagine just showing up to my best friend’s house unannounced, let alone not immediately leaving if I did and found him in bed with a woman he’s seeing. Hell, my woman best friend and I are as close as sisters and I honestly wouldn’t want to just show up at her place unannounced, if I had a key it would be for emergencies only, and I would always ask before I even got in my car to come over.

To me there’s no difference between my two best friends, same boundaries apply the same. Healthy people in a healthy friendship don’t just show up at each other’s houses all the time, unless some arrangement is made that is recognized as unusual to the point where new SO’s are informed right away.

And if there is a standing arrangement, it gets amended immediately once one gets into a relationship. “Hey because I’m seeing someone now you’ll have to ask before you come over from now on.”

That’s what is healthy. What is going on in this post is not, and if I were the OP I’d run far faaaarrrr away.
