I'm 36, that pic of me in the avi is only half a year old. And I have now documented photographic evidence spanning almost 20 years....

...I look better now than I did then.

Every year I can't really explain it but I know in my case that it just keeps getting better.

I have a few friends who are like this too. One of them started getting gray hairs and no homo looks super silver fox good. Like some kind of darker skinned George Clooney.

So it seems to be true for some men, but generally, the OP seems correct in that most people don't get better with age.

In my thirties I was surprised by how much easier it was to date younger women. I didn't have any money and was a mess. I was in good shape and well put together appearance wise, but that's it. If a guy actually works out, takes care of his appearance, and has basic competence (I didn't even have this), from what I've seen they do a lot better.

When reasonably put together guys 30+ divorce, they often find a better deal quickly.

This is not a suggestion to just hope things get better as you get older. But if you're holding the line, your prospects really do improve imo. Granted, there's also some truth to men aging more gracefully than women in the physical sense. Men have thicker skin for example, which tends to mitigate how quickly wrinkles/saggy skin sets in. Because of this, some men are "made" into better men in their later years. Plenty of men were dorky and un-masculine in their 20's and grow into their looks (build, face structure, style, etc) later.

Women spend hours everyday to put on cosmetics to artificially inflate and deceive people on how they look. Have you seen how most women look without makeup and all the filters they use on social media? Not so great. A man's aesthetic isn't based on deception, while a woman's is.

And men absolutely can look much better in their 30s than their 20s if they take care of themselves. A man in his 30s who can grow a full beard and has 50 pounds of muscle is much more attractive than his baby faced can't-grow-a-beard 20-something skinny fat self. You pair that with men having money to buy decent clothes in their 30s too and the potential gain is through the roof.

Men don’t age better we age slower, hence the common phrase men age like wine. Women are done growing at 14-16. Men aren’t done until 25 with most not actually growing into their frame or face until early 30’s

I have been hearing a lot about how a younger person can't be in a relationship with a older person other then for their money.

just want to make a point. I'm a younger guy that had deep feelings with a very older women. We dated for a while and only ended because we learned we didn't have much to talk about other then our love for each other.

It was a great relationship and in a way I still love her, but I know it wouldn't workout in the long term.

This pattern has biological origins. It’s uncertain whether it applies to the modern age. Better than their past self - depends. They definitely can. Single old men in particular have more spare time (and gained knowledge & experience) to put into their appearance.

Better than other younger men? Again, depends on whether they're competing for the same women? Since physical appearance is only one of the factors for women, older men can again be at an advantage to be more developed other areas (money, maturity).

Also slightly off topic but worth mentioning: younger men rarely date older women (and vice-versa) so older men have a larger "pond" to fish from.

How is that a guarantee? To me it seems older women would be more of a gold diggers than younger women. They're bitter and hurt by being used up by their "chad" exes and subconsciously looking for revenge. I mean, FDS exists for a reason. Women that got burned become super stingy with love and sex. To their own detriment. Whereas young people in general are less selfish, more giving, and easier to read so a young gold digger would be easier to spot especially by someone older. In fact it seems an older gold digger would be harder to spot easily.

There are definite and objective ageing asymmetries. Men bald while women's skin wrinkles more due to a different structure. Men mature later, as well. Also men remain fertile their whole lives.

Still, of course the classic idea that men age better has entirely to do with the subjective preferences of each gender's opposite sex. Women are not neotenous. Also, the line about money is an overly reductionist distraction: even in terms of what women find sexually attractive, aside from money, women are less focused on youthful good looks than men are.

Anyways, if one stops using this issue as a gender wars weapon and looks at it seriously, it is interesting. And technology and the lifestyle it engenders have altered dynamics significantly. Furthermore, today's culture of youth and sex worship are pushing women towards focusing more on male youthfulness, but still not neoteny.

Still, overall, all environmental things held equal, men still have an ageing advantage in terms of remaining sexually attractive the opposite gender. But it has shrunk. Furthermore, one can argue that all things are not equal as most women tend to put more work into staying young looking than men do.

You are overlooking the fact that puberty hits different for different people, for some people it hits them like a ton of bricks and they have a full beard by 16, for others it’s a slow burn and they manage to retain their youthful look much longer.

Then there is the economy, health, fashion, social skills, confidence aspects of being attractive. Some guys figure them out much later and that’s when they start achieving their full potential.

Energy expended & acquired all totals out.

Currently promoted nightly party lifestyles don’t favor anyone; male or female.

How much they indulge and how soon they become aware and nurture the other side of energies will make all the long term health impact.

Fertility and Fatigue will play in as biological factors. Eggs can’t be reversed.

So will testosterone and male hormones. Lifestyle will factor in.

Maybe guys have to earn theirs while females get free entry into VIP is why men have to work on themselves more, to play in the candy shop and the marketplace.

Too much candy without work becomes a habit, health declines.

It’s all individual factors variables summing up together for each person.

Trends occurs based on collective patterns also.

when people say men age better, they don't mean they actually age great, they mean that age doesn't matter as much for men, and men can make up for their age with the level of success, status, and social skills they achieve. women can't do this, therefore age worse
