I'm so glad we have up to date statistics now, because women on this sub have been desperately denying this for so long. Trying to discredit the Tinder and OK Cupid stats, grasping at every straw in order to gaslight us. "They are 10 years old," blah blah blah. Well there are new stats, and it's even worse than we have been saying. Here is a pretty good video on it, not that any of them will watch it.

I tried to put number to this but I'm missing stuff.

Women hinge users 40% let's say 400 women. Male hinge users 60% let's say 600 men.

Top 25% of men would be 150 men.

So if 80% of woman got with those 25% of men it would be 150 men : 320 women.

However not every one of those 400 women gets a match

. ( The article is missing enough stats for women) Like where are the majority of likes distributing for women ? Like top 30%, top 50% etc. Bc women get a 23% match rate which means not everyone they swipe on likes them back.

The Hinge match rate for men hovers around 2-5%. That means for every 20-50 likes you send out, you get one match. One. If you're sitting there with a 3% match rate thinking something is broken, nothing is broken. You ARE the average.

Women? Their outbound match rates historically sit around 23%. Roughly one in four likes turns into a match. Different universe. Different app, practically.

Men right-swipe (like) about 33% of profiles

Women right-swipe about 6% of profiles.

Women average ~5 matches per day Men average ~0.6 matches per day 52% of men get less than 1 match per day

Each woman swipes on 6% of profiles and that distributes to top 25% of men. Then a match rate of 23% . Where are the men's likes going ?

Let's say that the match rate is 23% of women to 25% of men. (?)

So 100 women to 150 men. Missing stuff this math is likely incorrect

One of my coworkers showed me her Hinge account once and she had an enormous amount of likes just sitting there. Since you can only talk to 8 people at a time, I can imagine it would take forever to even just look through everyone's profile.

With that being said, at least anecdotally, my friend group used Hinge and everyone was able to get a reasonable amount of matches and dates from the app, and I wouldn't classify any of us as male models or super successful guys.

At least for me, I had never dated before using Hinge and it helped me gain confidence in myself and just get out there and talk to more women. My first date was horrible but I definitely got better as time went on. I would say it's worth trying as a dude if you have nothing better going for you, just don't have any crazy expectations.

Im in the top 10% but when it's not in person it's a different game. Men are super straightforward. Women want experiences and to feel good about their choices.

What you're left with is a man's way of looking at dating with online dating, then you have many, many, many, women getting suckered into "bad men". By bad men I mean guys who aren't what they appear as. The truth lies somewhere in the middle, and everyone makes a fantasy of what they hope someone will be before they meet them

Does it really shock you when you take away how women have always dated, and instead put it into a man's point of view that things became heavily skewed? Everyone isn't dating as much, talking as much, or even hanging out anymore. You can blame technology, social media, or whatever. But the end point im getting at is that until people get back out to making it out to meet in person, things aren't going to improve. I can swipe for 2 hours and not have a match, or I can go to the bar and have a match in 15 minutes

Or is it something else, like they are not attracted (or less attracted) to average men when they can't see other features of the men like personality and similar interests/compatibility?

I feel like Hinge is the only dating platform that my friends and even some family members had work. I would consider these guys normal, “average” men as in, the kind of men that I am surrounded by in my day-to-day life. Idk what you mean here by top tier vs. average men. If it’s about looks, it needs to go in the weekly megathread.

Is that actually bad? I mean, it's obviously not ideal, but what would it be useful to even compare to, aside from other apps? If I walked into a crowded party or bar, I'd be fine with 60/40. Are we all supposed to be afraid of any competition?

So, assuming you max out your 8 free likes a day (which, given men's 33% like-rate, would take onl a few minutes, tops), you're averaging 1-3 matches a week. That's not an embarrassment of riches, but it's probably more shots than you get to take outside of apps.

So, the main problem with this data set is, of course, self-selection. This isn't a random or representative sample of Hinge users. This is a sample of user who are invested enough to know about this and then retrieve and submit their data. A reasonable hypothesis, then, is that is undersamples "average" users and oversamples users who are either struggling so much that they feel the need to analyze and/or users who spend a lot of time dissecting dating issues online. There's also probably a lot of overlap between those two groups.

Still, even taking it all at face value, I would make a suggestion before considering it hopeless: don't be so average (by present standards). The data doesn't take into account things like picture or profile quality, let alone more general and controllable factors like fitness and style.

Also, it's not a zero sum game. That is, we shouldn't assume the average female like-rate is static, nor that likes or matches take a woman off the market. It is possible that men would simply get more likes and matches, collectively, if they collectively elevated their game.

We see these posts all the time. Sure - just remember an AI on “swipe stats” isn’t accurate exactly, and you forget all the female bot accounts in these stats that swipe on everyone. Also, men do the exact same thing, but I guess that’s not as commonly reported.

At the end of the day, dating apps are like window shopping. If you’re window shopping, you’re not gonna ask the price on something you don’t actually like, right? You’d only go in and ask the price if you were interested in it.

Do women even get to the bottom 80%? It took me a few weeks to get out of the top profiles with only a few likes a day. I assume women don’t use it as much as men. So do the majority just match with someone before they make it past the top 20%?

It’s also worth noting that the top 1% of women get 11% of all likes and the top 10% get 46% of all likes. The lesser concentration among women is likely due to a small minority of men who have premium and swipe right on everyone. If ~3% of men swipe that way and the other ~97% swipe like women do, then that could explain how the top 10% of women receive 46% of all likes. Most men are picky and save their likes for the top women.

So when one of those men sends 200 likes per day and gets 0 matches, his 0% match rate has just as much influence on average as the match rate of 25 successful men who are limited to 8 likes a day. A small percentage of those men have a massive effect on the average match rate.

I mean, it's not that hard to beat the bottom 90% of men. Get yourself groomed (go to a good experienced barber), get some nice clothes (go to Zara, buy two outfits you see on their mannequins), get a DLSR camera and get a friend to take pictures of you outside where are people. Boom, you are now the top 10% of men. If all men just did that you would see a normal distribution on how women rate men. You just misunderstand the pareto distribution. That's about production, and it turns out only 10% of men produce what 50% of women want. So start producing. Women are way less picky than you think.
