I'm an atheist. I actually have a deep respect for Catholicism, it seems pretty great. Love all the stuff about natural law, and I think the Church plays a vital role in keeping communities together. I just don't believe God exists. So I don't go to church. I'm not going to live a lie.

Plus, really devout women, devout enough to regularly attend church, don't want an atheist husband.

Most of the good folks here have issues with organized religion, seeing such institutions as instruments of oppression [towards them in particular]. They are unlikely to compromise their moral virtues or materialistic hedonism (Whichever one applicable) to join a church, even on a fake basis.

Christianity is dying in the west. My wife takes me along to the church we attend on Sundays, and she is more involved over there than I am. It's like a social club with the rock band, bbqs, and feel-good message.

I rarely see any single women in the congregation. All are either married, windowed, or the teenage daughters of attendees. There are some programs for the high-schoolers, and the kids can meet boyfriends/girlfriends at those events (I assume), but it is not somewhere a guy in his 20s goes to meet single, high-value women.

Christian churches in the US are feminine spaces, and the few, single women who attend, will not tolerate guys approaching them in that space--it is a "safe space". Likewise, the churches are filled to the brim these days with woke ideology, liberation theology, etc.

The church isn't going to save the dating scene and marriage market, nor is it going to save the west. It does more harm than good these days

I was at a college weekend recruiting event once and the girls from BYU were probably the hottest of any school represented. Then come Sunday morning they all got up early to walk to church in the freezing cold. It gave me a lot of respect for Mormons tbh.

By Gynocentric, I mean they still push the concept of "men need to be traditional, but women can do whatever they want, and it's on the men to keep them in line". Essentially, they're tasking men with being their own partner's father vs. her acting like a rebellious daughter (which is not a healthy christian pairing in the first place), while levying no consequence on the females for being out of step with the faith to reinforce the authority necessary for men to do that.

Long story short, "religious" women have the same problems with understanding how to attract/keep a relationship/marriage/family-minded man and make a marriage work that "non-religious" women have, but with an unearned sense of self-righteousness to go along with it.

Using a church as a dating service felt disingenuous. I was considering attending right before covid but that plan kind of died. My religious friends don't ping me as religious in any capacity and I really just, don't know if I have it in me to be that kind of person. A mans relationship with his god or gods of choice is a highly personal thing though and to try to fake it without being truly committed leaves a bad taste in my mouth, even if a local pastor did used to mention a lot of young women there I just don't think I could be the guy they wanted and I doubt many others here could either.

Also that was about religion, but I would also need to ensure the church itself is ethical and on the up and up. I have 0 interest in sticking my money in the collection plate to pay for the fathers mazerati and there are certainly many such institutions now.

I don't know about now but when I was in college church was an untapped resource for meeting women. You could see the most attractive women in church.

I didn't really try to approach in church but at least when I saw them later on campus or at Walmart, they would be way more receptive for conversation.

At one church, everyone would go-to the Walmart that was next to the church after service. That was your best opportunity to introduce yourself, you had to move a little slower with some of the church girls (as far as getting numbers) but if they were receptive you were good to go...

I visited my twin sons at a major state university in the South during the spring semester and went with one of them to see his girlfriend get baptized at the local college church. There had to be 2,000 people in there and it seemed like 70% or so of them were women.

That’s probably still not the best way to meet women on that campus, but Lord, you don’t have to try that hard if you have any game.

Meh. I tried going to some services a few times. I’m somewhere between atheist and agnostic most days, but I think that most of organized religion’s tenets overlap enough with what I think constitutes a good society that I’m not averse to dating a religious woman. So I tried going to a couple of Unitarian/non-denominational churches. Yes, there were attractive women there. But as a single man flying solo in a foreign environment, I was just too out of my comfort zone to chit chat with anyone. Plus they had a mini-concert. It was all very bizarre, and felt very clique-y to me.

Perhaps if I put more weight into faith, I’d give it another go. But honestly, the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. I’d rather have a few extra hours of leisure time every week than commit to something I’m not passionate about for the off-chance that a reasonably attractive single woman crosses my path and we somehow start dating.
