I’ve had a change of heart from when I commented in automod. I’m probably going to copy and paste this same response to the daily “men like virginity” post from now on when I see it. Then I’ll tweak it as I go along. Here it goes:

This virginity topic is so over debated and there’s really nothing unique to add to it anymore. So once again, if you are a virgin man and want a virgin woman, that is fine. If you’re a man who does not have casual sex and wants a woman the same way, that is fine. If you are a man whore who wants a virgin, even that is fine and if you are able to find her, great. If you are a man whore or an aspiring man whore who goes about shaming women for having casual sex, you are a hypocrite who is directly contributing to the problem you go out of your way to call out. Either casual sex is immoral or it isn’t. So pick one. Morality is not gender specific. Just because men have to earn the ability to do something immoral does not make it moral.

Nobody really cares if you want a virgin. People only care when you shame people for not being able to meet your standards when you can’t even meet them yourself. If you want to politely reject every woman who isn’t a virgin despite you sleeping around or wishing you could sleep around, go for it. If you want to reject every woman who isn’t a virgin and proceed to lecture her on how she’s for the streets and will end up being a crazy cat lady, then you’re just not a good person.

Only the types of men who live on Reddit believe this to be true. In real life and in most other relationships subreddits, virginity over a certain age is a "red flag". An attractive woman has many opportunities. The average age to lose virginity is in their teens. If she is still one, there is likely to be a reason. Or is the op only dating teenagers?

Also men like the OP tend to expect the woman to have kept herself for many years but drop panties just for him as soon as she meets his "as a high value male" self. What if women who actually are virgins over age 18 are staying that way by choice , like they are waiting for marriage and are religious? These men are the types to cheat on the side while waiting and lie about the religious because "she wouldn't give me any and I had no choice" .

I am 33 and have yet to be asked my any man or woman what my "body count" was. A boyfriend knew his at the top of his head, but he was incredibly insecure and anxious. He even used viagra since his first sexual encounter because he associated sex with self worth and he didn't want to even risk not being able to have it. He only mentioned his because he'd feel happier if it were higher as it would make him feel more manly and desirable.

I don't even know what mine is, not because it's a high number but because it has no significance whatsoever. Does sleeping with women count, even though no penis was inside of me? I've known 2 people close to me that got herpes on their first sexual encounter. If you're truly concerned about your health, you and your partner get tested and share results before you have sex and you use condoms.

Plenty of studies that show men statistically are more promiscuous and are more likely to say yes to sex with new partners if offered than women are. If someone feels inferior for being virgins or not having more than a few partners, they're just furthering their suffering by giving themselves even more reasons to not have the sex they want to have. Studies also show how risks of std transmission are virtually non existent if both partners have consistently used condoms.

Imagine meeting someone you have amazing chemistry and mutual attraction with and refusing any romance just because they slept with more people than them. Having a slutty year in college 20 years ago doesn't mean they're not worthy of love and it doesn't define a person. It shouldn't be a sense of pride or shame and it's creepy if someone keeps a tally up in their closet or something. It's horribly objectifying to view people as numbers.

Some of the best experiences of my life involved sex, and if they didn't lead to beautiful loving relationships they at least gave me memories that still make me melt. I can't imagine missing out on those experiences because keeping my "body count" low enough was deemed more important. The ultimate pleasures in life (sex and love) doesn't take away from your life, it adds value!Anyone who thinks the joy of sex needs to be limited or non existent and makes efforts to prevent themselves and others from having sex is showing they view pleasure as a bad thing, something that needs to be limited. Why would anyone want to be with anyone who views pleasure as a rare commodity that is only OK if shared with them? Don't be mad at things you can't control, like people living their life before they knew you.

Anyone who obsesses about the body count thing is showing how limited their experience is with sex and relationships is and it makes it seems like they'd be horrible at both. A person's worth is not based on their sexual experience, or the lack there of like so many of the guys constantly posting about this.

Nothing is wrong with having preferences on either side, it is pathological however to lament on how women are broken whores/high body counts then spend your weekends going out to sleep with such broken whores high n women. Smh. There’s some context to modern dating that involves some degree of sleeping around and women are humans on their own journey, who go through phases and make mistakes. What you should be looking for in a woman is one who isn’t reckless and treats her body as cheap. I also don’t think men particularly care about pasts when commitment/exclusive relationship isn’t on the table…a man not caring should definitely raise an eyebrow to a respectable woman who’s wants more. Ambiguity is King with casual hookups, I’ve noticed as I’ve never been asked up front about body counts ect however it was an eased into conversation once seriousness about each other was on the table. Once the exclusive relationship genuinely comes into play men definitely get concerned about getting her sexual best where ones past could be a problem. I believe most men become very attached to the women they have sex with, it is a very intimate event and most men are loyal. There exceptions of course, the so called chads that don’t get emotionally involved at all. Chads are an evolutionary strategy that pays off for them but most men are different. So a women that has a high body count shows that she is a female chad with no to little emotional attachment to the men she has sex with. That is not a suitable partner for a serious relationship.

Straight up insecurity. As dudes we like the idea of being the best sexual partner our women has ever had, and that gives a sense of security against the idea of her being picked up by another guy.
