I know some women who say they wouldn't date a man who has had sex with another man. They say the problem isn't necessarily that these men are attracted to other men, but rather that they don't like the idea that their boyfriend had a penis inside him and that they would lose respect for him.

I still can't quite understand the mental process behind this. The only thing I've noticed is that the same women also tend to have a problem with men showing “too much emotion” (whatever that means) and generally have a more traditional view of masculinity and relationships.

But I also know enough women, myself included, who have no problem with it, so I think it's less of a general thing and more of a personal preference of some women.

I think it is true for most women.

My theory is that male homosexuality is regarded with the same contempt as female promiscuity. Just as promiscuity threatens the idea of what femininity is meant to be, homosexuality does the same for masculinity (yet female homosexuality doesn't really threaten femininity, and male promiscuity doesn't threaten masculinity)

So women justifying their reasoning by saying they wouldn't do it because it "increases the chances of cheating" or "std risks" etc are coping as hard with their culturally influenced biases as when guys start talking about bird pseudoscience to justify why high body count = bad.

I've heard that its just straight up visceral disgust, and I've heard that it because people find sex with lots of men is 'gross'. (whether a man is doing it or a woman). However, most bisexual women are absolutely fine with it, so there must be another reason.

I also don't think its about STDs, because lots of women are lax with condoms.

Idk about "most" and the percentage will vary heavily by demographic but it's definitely a thing. I love bisexual men, and many of my friends would consider it a neutral to positive, but I'm aware my social circle leans a certain way.

It's common because biphobia is common.

The answer is men are icky. That’s why across almost every coupling sleeping with a guy makes the other person lose attraction. Straight women dislike dating bi men. Lesbian women dislike dating bi women. Men dislike dating promiscuous women.

We don’t see the same pattern when people sleep with many women. I often see sleeping with many women praised actually. This makes me think the problem is not sex but men.

I will do this again. There is a lot of homophobia when it comes to dating bi men. However there was a period of time when bi men who were not forthcoming about being bi increased the HIV infection rate for women.

So the homophobia is partially born out of the idea that bi men can be deadly to a woman but also generally homophobia. If you didn’t live during the down low era then you wouldn’t fully understand but kids were dying because their mothers were feeding them breast milk while being HIV positive and not knowing.

Once a person takes full responsibility for their sexual health including regular STI testing and having honest conversations about sexual history, bi men or women aren’t as big of an issue as one would make it out to be.

I didn’t think this would bother me, but when the situation came up, it was hard for it to not be a turn off.

It was just very shocking. I like guys who are more dominant in bed so it was very hard for me to picture him being a bottom, which is what he specifically liked.

It just totally changed what I thought he liked.

It might be similar if he had told me he used to do a lot of a very extreme kink (that I’m not into) and had never mentioned it before.

I did my best to express that to him but he clearly carries shame over it, and I don't want to hurt him by focusing on it so it hasn't come back up. I'd like to hear more about it someday when he's ready though

I mildly prefer bi men - because they're less likely to have swallowed all the hetnorm relationship bullshit down whole. (OTOH, if they're bi but want to have a hetnorm flavored relationship with me, it's just as much a no.)

I remember years back one of the advice columnists (Ann Landers, maybe?) used to advise women that bi men would always cheat. Which is bi-phobic nonsense, but I wouldn't be surprised it that's still a thing in a lot of circles.

I would. But I’m also bi.

And I admit that if I overly think about my man fucking other men, I’d be a little turned off. So if I were to date a bi man I just wouldn’t overly think about it. He’d also have to preferably be Aaron Pierre levels of masculinely handsome to counteract my thoughts haha.

Something about a man fucking another man doesn’t feel masculine to many women’s lizard-brain and thus can often be an attraction turn off to many women. I don’t make the rules! They don’t “hate” them. They’re just not attracted. Is that a crime? It’s unfair and may hurt some feelings but it’s not inherently evil.

I liken it to a man who would prefer his wife having never had sex with any man but him, but the reality is she has. If he thinks about her fucking her ex, he may get turned off or whatever.

But as humans with frontal lobes we know how to temper our irrational and unfair thoughts. Especially when it comes to someone we love, care about, am attracted to, and generally vibe with.

When I was younger I dated a guy who was very clearly in the closet and what felt insulting to me was that there was the chance he could be stringing me along or might not be as attracted to me as he claimed. In some ways I thought it was about me when it really wasn’t at all.

I am exclusively friends with progressive, alternative women and I live in a progressive city that often feels like a happier 2010 at times. I have never (socially) met a woman who wouldn't date a bi man.
This might be true for straight conservative women or dumb women.
Manosphere content will repeat anything that suggests men are not getting laid. And bisexual men are the ideal, quasi woke cause for them to latch on to.

Bi men: there's a vocal minority of lesbians who don't want to date bisexual women. It's good that these women are so open about their negative feelings, so I can avoid them and seek out date women who want to date me. Don't seek validation from these people! You really don't want to date someone who does not want to date you.
