Most of the time when I point out problematic behavior coming from some men, a lot of guys immediately take it upon themselves to defend whole men population, even though i called out only some men and only about specific issue. They read it as an attack on themselves individually or as a sweeping statement about every man on earth, even when it's very clearly not that at all.

Instead of simply stepping back and saying “Yeah, that specific thing is messed up, illogical, unacceptable,” they almost always jump straight into defensive mode. They call me whiny, accuse me of generalizing all men, claim I'm just blaming men, being bitter for being rejected. Or they completely sidestep the actual point by bringing up what other men don't do, as if somehow that cancels the pattern that other men display. Or they switch topics entirely and start talking about how bad women are, or how easy women supposedly have it according to their imagination.

It's exhausting. Very few seem able to just acknowledge that certain behaviors are shitty without feeling personally indicted.

Ironically men use "not all men" often, but basically in debates like this they fail to acknowledge that there are different groups of men that display different behavior. It's either "men are wonderful" or nothing.
