"The bar is in the floor" is a common narrative for every demographic group complaining about the behavior of another group.

Everyone always thinks their own standards are extremely reasonable and common-sense, whereas the other side's demands are cruel, selfish and arbitrary.

Having said that - a good hueristic of whether a standard is reasonable is whether the person holding the standard meets it.

Is the dude who said all that also not fat, not a single dad, not overly promiscuous and not trying to exploit a woman for material gain? Then at least he's not hypocritical.

Yeah, some men say they’re “desperate” but still have standards. That’s not hypocrisy though. It just means they’re not attractive to the women they want. That’s a normal human experience. Women complain about “where are all the good men” while filtering out a ton of men too. Same dynamic.

The real issue isn’t standards. Everyone has them. The issue is when either side pretends they don’t, or acts like the other side’s standards are immoral while theirs are just “preferences.”

Men saying “women’s standards are too high” is usually shorthand for “the current market makes it hard for average guys to compete.” Women saying “the bar is in hell” is shorthand for “a lot of men aren’t meeting the effort or behavior I expect.” Both are market complaints.

Nobody is actually desperate for everyone. They’re desperate for people they’re attracted to. That’s just reality.

If we’re being honest, most people aren’t struggling because they have standards. They’re struggling because the people they want have options. That applies to both genders.

That’s not entitlement. That’s just how unbalanced dynamics in dating market work.

I think it's mainly down to a couple of things.

Fewer men can earn enough to support a whole household.
Even amongst those that don't, not many are actually able to perform household or childcare/ childrearing duties to the same extent as women.
Men need/are desperate for sex, a lot more than women.
Many more women than men have strong emotional connections outside a romantic relationship.

I don't think such a woman has to necessarily be "top-tier" in terms of looks. Simply, if a woman is self-sufficient, monetarily and emotionally, a man can't just be good enough, but actively value-add to her life for her to consider him as a romantic partner.

These men simply aren't up to the standards for the women they want to attract in general.

Common dating is very harsh to non socially-attractive people (I am not just talking about looks). However, there are plenty of spaces meant for women to find people who want them(bbw dating, interracial dating, dating based on disabilities, etc), but it doesn't work the same way when it comes to men.
CHILDREN ARE A NON-NEGOCIABLE. Being a parent is a gigantic responsability that not everyone is ready for yet, especially when it comes to someone else's children. You cannot expect people to bear a responsability that have nothing to do with them and has nothing to do with whether a man likes you or not.
People want love, not to be a sugar daddy or a walking ATM to a gold digger. If I wanted to pay for intimacy, I would buy an escort.
In case nobody ever told you this, you can easily look up plenty of studies who show that women with a lot of casual sex experience come with a lot of bonding issues and are at a higher risk of cheating, comparing partners, or being dissatisfied in long-term relationships. THAT'S the main reason guys don't want someone with a high body count. It has less to do with "being overused" or whatever other bushit.
Being desperate for love doesn't mean that you want somebody who can't give you love or asks for something other than love in return.

I agree that there are plenty of guys who lack complete self-awareness and ask for whatever they want without being prepared to give back. But, that's not how most people are. Generalizing lonely people doesn't help anyone.

The first paragraph, your observation skills are working. We aren't interested in those things. Then to link it to the top 20% of women being not that. If you put the two together, you get the truth. Add a third, we aren't seeking barbies.. just fair standards, basic standards. I don't think its anywhere close to 80% of women are sluts, etc etc, that be way too high, but definitely the pool of marriagable women shrunk , it was a bad era to be a man looking for a wife and start a family. I'm curious if solving that issue alone would solve all issues. I can say for myself if there were decent options out there then I'd work at dating and finding someone. But we must remember not all men are the same either, I don't know how many men would actually work out etc just solely for the reasons decent women in a higher amount existed. What happens is the few women get snagged and married, then its a gender desparity to compete with other men for the last ones. Men know that the old she is, its lower chance shes one of the good ones left, and I mean why do we prefer younger. The reasons are many, it doesn't just pertain to 'x most common reason listed to shame men' etc.

1) I'd say the dating apps experience is to blame. Try being a man on there and find a chicka, probably drop all your standards and pick the first one 3 weeks later that actually moves, and read the profile of that person. Likely a laundry list of standards. So just do that, then you'll get the vibe. It might be easy to do, depends on technology these days on the apps to discern faking a male profile, making one being the task.

#2 sounds like an elaborative text to previous, (nothing wrong with it). I didn't see the point. Maybe I answered it through the first. I'd say a lot of what you wrote sounds like you identified what's happening. It's a rehearsal from previous, in that some men , or 'I', am dissappointed and unsatisfied with the selection of women to choose from. They didn't change or destroyed their reputation (in 1 billion possible ways), they just aren't marriage material and that matters for me because thats what I'm surrounded by and it's like,... for me I say..

Simple. If their flaws aren't equal or bigger than the flaws of those they reject, they are quite right when they complain.

That said, a flaw is subjective too. A single mom can be single for many valid reasons, honestly, and while the kid diminishes her value in the market, it does not diminish her value as a human being and potentially amazing partner. A fat woman can be the nicest person on this planet, which might be irrelevant at certain ages but trust me, plenty of people end up hoping to find a nice face and a nice personality, even if it isn't the best body, cause that's already substantially better than nice body with awful personality. A gold digger who can be maintained can be exactly what certain men look for when they are wealthy enough and just want a hot girl who will remain happy as long as they provide.

However, those are just a niche. Fit guy wants a fit woman. Wealthy guy wants a genuinely loving partner, and so on...it's perfectly valid to look for someone like you and complain when people something as basic and fair like that can't be found.

Swiping and using dating apps only to meet someone is common now, but anyone who is paying attention can see that people who do that (men & women) struggle with basic social skills. You miss a point. Men do not want top % of women for what they have or what they are. Women do want rich and tall and handsome.

Men want girls who stfu, low looks\money standards and have little to no baggage.

You can definitely achieve that for a large number of men if men had more social power and could indoctrinate\force\manipulate women into thinking that being a good woman is not beiing a single mother, not be fat not have a hight body count, etc.

This is also why men are very pissed off when a girl says "I woulnd't date X type of men" because it reduces the dating pool, because her shallowness could have been corrected if properly indoctrinated.

A lot of the disdain for certain types of women is butthurt bullshit that I don't agree with, but also definitely isn't said by all struggling men. I think tons of lonely men would be okay with some sort of sexual connection with a single mom they see as attractive or a "slut" if it actually came down to it.

Because if they phrase it not "there is no chance at all for me" but "i'm not attractive to people I want" the problem stops being huge, and the only reaction is "So what? Everyone has been there"

The problem does not stop being huge, not everyone has been there, and the vast, vast majority of women proudly proclaim that they don't care about not having sex or relationships anyway. Many men do. And to some degree, they also objectively have a harder time in at least getting a learning experience or something. Just having the reassurance that they can be seen as attractive.

There IS something "desperate" about for example a lonely dude swiping endlessly on an app, getting one match after a while, getting excited, trying hard not to fumble it and opening with something witty, getting no reply, and then feeling like shit. It is a type of experience women just... don't typically have. The inescapability of it, the hopelessness.

Telling men they could sleep with some obese old woman if this really mattered to them is like telling women they can do sex work if the wage gap really mattered to them.

What’s up with the fat shaming? Single-parent shaming? Being fat or a single parent, or slutty, has no bearing on whether or not you are a person of integrity and substance.
