Men like this take advantage of women with abusive parents. He saw that her parents abused her and added on to the same abuse to manipulate her into believing she’s actually ugly. I don’t think she looks in the mirror and sees someone ugly based on her descriptions of herself. When she describes herself as ugly, she mostly repeats what has been told to her with no real details. She’s being gaslit on all sides.

This happened to me as well. I had an abusive mother who would always tell me I was ugly and repulsive and no one would ever love me. When I dated a narc ex, once he realized this is what she was saying and I didn’t feel pretty about myself, he did the exact same thing.

Once I went no contact with family, dumped the NVM, and gained good friends, I was finally able to fully acknowledge my own beauty. I mean I don’t even wear make up, I’m just a naturally pretty gal with clear skin and nice complexion. I get compliments all the time. If I ever got compliments before, I’d tell myself people were lying to be nice. It’d make me uncomfortable cause it was against my reality.
