For the computer one - it's missing some social weight behind it. A closer equivalent that real men actually deal with would be a father out with his kids being complimented on what a good babysitter he is just for taking the kids to the park. The assumption is that because he's a man, the standard of parenting is lower, so to meet basic expectations is exceptional. It's patronizing.

1) catcalls aren’t compliments

2) happening frequently would get really annoying, the non stop attention would get on my nerves

3) 9/10 guys ‘complimenting’ are trying to get in the girl’s pants, so she has to always keep her guard up

4)nothing is more annoying than a person ruining one’s thought flow by interrupting it.

There is a time and place for complements, cold approaches, etc - none of these examples are it.

And before y’all come at me, i’m a man - i get complimented and hit on a few times, less than i’d like but enough to know that i’m not invisible. That being said, there are extremes to this, faulting women for complaining about the other extreme is blind and grass is greener-ism at its clearest

Men would not like to be treated in the way that women are treated. How do I know? These compliments sound nice. But...Imagine if you'd heard them every day since you were a child. So much that you couldn't imagine life without them. Imagine if the women giving those compliments also had a biological drive to get their hands on your penis at any cost, so you can't really trust those compliments either.

But on the other hand, it's crazy how little compliments men get. Imagining just a couple of these made me warm and fuzzy, as sad as that sounds. It's not because I'd think those women want to jump my boner. It's because it feels nice to be appreciated and acknowledged, and it puts into perspective how rarely it happens. Especially for the little things, like fixing your computer.
