TIL me and that Caleb dude went to school together. We never met but we would have taken the same electives within a year or two, probably gone to the same gym, and were dating in the same pool of women before graduation.

I don't even blame him at this point. Looking back there was always 100% a demographic of women activley looking for guys exactly like that and even being another 6'4 artsy dude in the same environment I'll tell you flat out these women are activley screening for a guy like that and don't have the self awareness to realize this. I know this because again, I was dating in the same pool he was in my early 20's and I knew the girls planning to also move to NYC in his age demo.

Anything he could have done to not be a dickhead would not have worked. I know this because I had a functionally identical formative experience and the type of woman who right swipes on that kind of guy is activley drawn to the toxic parts first and foremost.

Here is a graph over the development of childlessness in Sweden (for women at age 45/men age 50), broken down into education background. Education is a most important class marker in Scandinavia. Probably more so than in the USA.

These groups:

Primary School
High School
Higher education of max 3 years.
Higher education of 3 years or more.

What is striking is that all groups are pretty much unchanged except the least educated group. Here the increase is more than 5%pt (more for women than for men). Which is really a rather massive increase of 25%-33% over only a single decade - and no reason to assume it has stopped increasing here. So now, there is a direct inverse correlation between education length and childlessness.

So anyway, we live through a period of increasing wealth inequalities. Perhaps many of the issues people have with dating is downstream from this. Its just a reflection of poorer people having fewer choices. No money = no dates; no gf/bf; no wife/husband; no children.

No money, no honey.

A few weeks ago someone on PPD server asked me to post an average guy from my school and I did, he was subsequently dubbed above average since he was tall and athletic.

It’s easy to say I am underrating men but I don’t even notice the statistically average men. So when I think of the average man, I am already filtering for “the men I notice” and most likely they’re just plain, not chubby or short. I feel like men on PPD can’t grasp the fact that when women go outside, they’re not noticing the chubby 5’9 statistically average man, they’re forgettable.

Q4 all those in LTRs but have single friends who complain about dating issues:

What differences do you see between yourself and your friends who're also in LTRs and those friends who're single complaining about dating?

A lot of husband's friends are single and have lots of complains about dating. He says it's mostly due to their own choices. One always falls for insta-girls, who expect to get dined, expensive presents etc. while he can't really afford this kind of lifestyle. Another works almost without weekends, as he supports his mother and helps financially his brothers, so he just doesn't have any time for dating. Another is depressed and pushed off anyone interested. So the main difference is in preferences, vetting and family situation, I guess.

One of my girlfriends knows that she's too agreeable and most her dating issues have roots in it. She's very feminine, rather quiet, men feel that they can use and manipulate her. She got into relationships because she couldn't reject a guy several times. Nothing sexual though, she has at least some boundaries. She stopped dating altogether and she suspects that she isn't really into men, they scare and disgust her more often than not. She wants to try to date women, but it's rather hard to do considering that we live in a small Russian town. So the difference here is that I have far easier times rejecting people and I don't have much boundaries issues. Also that I'm bi and she suspects that she's lesbian.

Quality doesn’t matter too much and I’m not talking about finding your soulmate, as long as she doesn’t obviously hate you and at least tolerates you enough to be in a relationship with you.

I’ve had girlfriends before but man, it’s so fucking difficult to get into relationships that it’s not worth it in my opinion. So many failed attempts and so much wasted effort. Really fucked with my head and made me question a lot of things.

I was listening to a blind item podcast earlier today about Jennifer Lawrence. They said that, in addition to being beautiful, charming and talented JLaw has basically fucked every director, producer and co-star she needed to to advance her career, and to great success. And specially Weinstein. JLaw has been notably mum about condemning Weinstein since he was one of her biggest advocates and basically got her an Oscar (which she also deserved, but he campaigned for her and that probably did it more than anything).

What was interesting was their take on Weinstein and the "Weinstein girls." Harvey Weinstein is of course a monster who raped and abused plenty of women. BUT there were still PLENTY of women who very willingly threw themselves at him in order to (successfully) advance their careers. Just because he's a rapist dickhead doesn't mean every women he was involved with was a victim.

Anyway, thought it was an interesting take on the whole thing, especially from a very BP podcast.

In my experience and observations, the main instance when “casual sex” happens without the lies and misleading is when both parties are mentally stimulated or intoxicated or inebriated particularly at a party, club, bar, festival, etc. Those are the “no one was misled” “hot sex in the bathroom” or “making out furiously on the dance floor” moments.

My brother became super religious out of college and is looking (with my family) for a wife the trad Muslim way. One of his requirements is the woman has to be above average height because he doesn’t want his potential sons to be mad at him for being short (my brother is 6ft). Which I understand cause that’s the standards modern day women have imposed on us but my brother has struggled finding a woman who meets this requirement, is religious (prays 5 times a day which is hard to find in the west) and that has mutual attraction which is why I had to basically give the talk to him that men have to give the talk to women who only want 6ft plus men.

Your basically already cutting your dating pool more than half, then you cut the woman who aren’t religious enough, then you cut the women who aren’t attractive enough to you, and finally, you cut the women who aren’t attracted to you (huge percentage), and you’re probably left with a handful of women.

I think his problem is he sees his strong religious values as a huge plus when that is a distant secondary to religious women.
