Question for my fellow gents out there

I noticed plenty of words out there are used to describe a girl (hot, pretty, beautiful, etc.)

But I wonder, in what sense do you guys use each word? If possible provide general ideas. And which type you prefer

Personally here's how I'd use them:

"Cute" is generally good-looking in a diminutive way. Usually this is largely about demeanor too (having a cute smile, etc.) . For me there's a lot of leeway in what fits into the "cute" category, but what first comes to mind is more petite, smaller girls usually.
"Adorable" is a childlike cuteness that I wouldn't apply to someone in a sexual context ever. This is a word I would use to describe my little sister or my neighbor's cat
"Beautiful" describes an alluring look. Something sophisticated looking or dazzling shall I say. Think of a tall brunette with a serious gaze who can command the room simply by entering it. This is that woman who exudes power that makes men too afraid to approach her.
"Pretty" is like a poorer man's beautiful. It's like if "beautiful" and "cute" had a baby almost.
"Sexy" is pretty self explanatory and has much less to do with face than the rest of it
"Hot" is similar to sexy except it's far more encompassing (kinda hard to explain)

Personally my preference is probably "pretty" out of all these. "Cute" can also have a lot of potential, but it can go either way (either they can be "cute" but I don't find them attractive n any way, or they can encompass many different traits of the various attractiveness types)

Actually , the women reading should also pitch in what different words mean when it comes to guys (hot, cute, handsome, etc.)

Since you didn't respond I'll assume you are not familiar. The appeal to nature fallacy is when someone implies that which is natural is just or right.

The reason that this is a fallacy is they usually focus on things that they deem to be positive while ignoring the negatives of this type of thinking.

You seem to believe that if nature deemed not all men should reproduce, that this is a just or correct course of action.

But that logic also applies to rape murder cannibalism incest assault etc.

Since we as a society have decided that those things are not good, and I'm sure you'd agree, we cannot justify things with suggesting that which is natural is good.

We hold ourselves to a higher standard, which is what created civilization.

You seem to think that this form of holding ourselves to a higher standard is artificial and therefore bad, but the only things keeping people unraped unmurdered etc is that "artificial" control.

Another note is that women are not shown to create higher quality offspring in any way shape or form if given free reign. What they do is select for pretty faces almost exclusively. Vaginas aren't good gene detectors and there's only been very weak and unconvincing correlation between good looks and good genes.

Higher quality also means something different now that we live in a society. A very hot unhinged sociopath would do very well in nature, but in society would end up in prison.

So to sum it up, that which is natural is not necessarily good and that which is good or desired by women's lizard brains is not compatible with modern society.

And may I ask a question? Why is it you think that society should "artificially" keep rapes and murders from occurring but for some reason women's sexuality should not be held in check in return? Men are expected to act against their instincts for the good of ALL and punished heavily if they don't do so.

Why should women contribute nothing to the well being of ALL yet still be afforded societies protections?

Humans often think they can out-smart evolution, but I think this in of itself is fallacious thinking.

Just look at the rise of depression and unhappiness among modern peoples. Early tribal humans actually worked LESS than modern humans, and our farming ancestors. And look at climate change, we have practically fucked our entire species by being short-sited and not sticking to what has been proven to work by 3.5 billion years of evolution (cycles and diversity - our systems are based on linearity and standardization). Trusting humans, who function subjectively and have been around for 10,000 years, sounds silly compared to trusting nature, which functions objectively and has been around for 3.5 billion years.

Peacocks are actually a terrible example because they have actually entered what is known as a fisherian runway. This means they actually exert more energy and calories into their fathers beauty than is beneficial to them as a species.

Lions, as I pointed out in apes, kill their rivals and then kill all the females babies and any females who don't comply are killed or cast out childless from the pride.

Your understanding of nature seems to be very black and white, nothing is just black and white.

Well, first I would like to say that I think your point about depression is not well founded because you cannot separate the fact that overall depression has increased and now women are expected to work AND do most of the household chores. Not to mention, male suicide rates are far higher than women's, so it is very likely that the men who were depressed just killed themselves, thus no longer contributing to the statistic and making depression seem like an overwhelmingly female problem.

I think we are all miserable, lost, angry, drugged up, overpopulated, controlled by corporations and governments that don't care about us, haunted by expectations and comparison, and depressed by existence.

I honestly don't think we are better off than our tribal ancestors, even considering rape, murder, disease, hunger, etc. At least we know how to deal with that shit because all animals have for hundreds of millions of years.

If we have 100 women and 100 men: 30 women and 30 men are depressed. 75% of suicides are male, so let's say 5 women and 15 men kill themselves out of 15 who attempted. The other 10 women attempted and fail, and are still alive but depressed. Now what do we have?

25 depressed women (10 who attempted suicide), and 15 depressed men (0 who attempted suicide).

Do you see that looking at those stats, it seems more women are depressed? And more women attempt suicide? When really, the rate of depression for women and men was 30 / 100 for both and both had 15 attempts suicide. Since the men died, they were removed from the statistics.

haha my partner thinks this too, more or less. He's an advocate of war as the only way for societal peace, which I think relates to your idea. Initially, I (like most women, I suppose) was vehemently opposed to it, but to be honest, I have come to understand and even agree with it.

Looking at early tribes, it was indeed a critical component of any society. As my partner puts it, where you have humans, you will have disagreement. And if there is to be unity under a single system, one of those views is going to be silenced. Which one? The weaker one. Morality isn’t built into existence. There is no natural law that says humanity as a concept should exist. There is no natural law that says society has to exist. There is no natural law that says human being are or aren’t supposed to suffer, or create, or do anything. There is no “natural design”.

We can either accept that these concepts are constructions, and agree that despite the fact that life is inherently meaningless, our existence is enough reason to pursue (chemical?) fulfillment, OR we can reject meaning and morality entirely .

But half measures like this are not sustainable. You cannot appeal to nature and claim that you have the best interests of society and morality in mind.

I like the idea of MGTOW for individual men, but I don’t see it as a stable ideology. What is much more likely is that men and women will naturally separate en masse, despite cultural messaging staying constant. Yes, there will be “angry men”. hmm, i both agree and disagree with you. Agree that there is no morality, etc. But if an organism exists then it follows all the laws of physics, chemistry, and biology (evolution). I've this argument a million times with my partner on whether the universe is determinalist. It's not illogical to make the claim that if you have full information, you can predict everything from the first particle that exploded. Everything that cannot exist, does not.

Anyway, point is I don't think we can make the claim that humans, society, etc. shouldn't exist. If there were a million ways for things to happen, why did this one happen? Whose to say this is the only way things can happen, and so it did? What are mathematic models if not proof that the more knowledge you have of a system that you can input, the more accurate the output? Thus, in full knowledge, there is this output.

I think it's more that our brains are too big for females to do things solo as many other mammals do. So we're looking at either female social groups supporting pregnant women and raising the young or social groups that include males hanging around.

Generally I think humans have survived on the brink of extinction for a long time. This required keeping fertile women constantly pregnant. So female-only social groups would have required support from menopausal women and let's be real, that ain't happening. It would be immediately overrun and ransacked by male pillagers.

Also human females have evolved concealed estrus. Generally my interpretation is this supports keeping multiple males around and cooperative.

So that's my thoughts on our "natural design".

But with modern large-scale industrial economies the immediate presence of males and constant pregnancy is no longer needed. So that evolutionary pressure is gone.

Can't really say because there are a lot of different mating dynamics and behaviors among different species of animals, including mammals.

"Hypergamy" doesn't exactly apply in species of animals that don't wildly vary in secondary sex characteristics. You can see how exaggerated it is in species of birds like the peacock, but not exaggerated at all in animals like horses, zebras, and other similar species whose sexes look nearly identical apart from their sex organs.

Not only mammals, most animals in general. In ant nuptial flights, all healthy queens are mated, but only few males mate. A healthy woman is an attractive woman.

Ants and those types of eusocial insects have a very specific dynamic lol so I don't think we can use them for comparison here. Women like to call themselves "Kweenz" these days but they aren't much different from any other ant.

If you go look up the mating dynamics of horses or zebras vs deer, you'll see different mating behaviors, and that's largely because of the gap in secondary sex characteristics. Animals with large differences tend to be more aggressive because of differences in hormones. Likewise, if you look at a species like Hyenas, their dynamics are almost inverted. The females are more aggressive and they even have a pseudo-penis.

This topic is much more complex than "female = judge; male = compete."

Keeping these things in mind, if you look at the natural world, the vast majority of males act like sperm, and the vast majority of females act like eggs. I think the most beautiful example is the convergent evolution in gametes in animals and plants. The most recent common ancestor of these two groups did not produce gametes, it just did mitosis (cell clones itself). Thus, the design occurs independently twice, which in evolution generally means it's a pretty damn great design. Some other examples are wings (occurred independently in insects, dinosaurs/birds, and mammals).

Pollen is the male gamete of plants, which plants throw into the wind in vast quantities. The ovule (female) is retained on the plant and protected and nourished as the embryo and its associated tissues (seed coat and fruit in angiosperms) develops.

Organisms like hyenas and penguins are the exceptions, not the rule. Proof:

Yes, I see. Although I can't really verify some of the things that you've said right now, from the general vibe that I'm getting, it seems like you're only taking a current perspective of the way things are and then building a theory to fit or explain it, whereas that's not exactly how reality or science works. In your case, you're saying that "this is just the way it is" and while it does cover things currently, it doesn't exactly cover the entire breadth of the situation where evolution is concerned.

With a mindset like this, everything that exists right now hasn't changed very much at all, which is basically sweeping evolution aside and pointing more toward an idea of creationism as to the explanation of why organisms exist the way that they do. There's really no way to validate this and hence why scientists and researchers make these hypotheses or theories that aren't validated or confirmed either. I'm not saying this in the sense that it's wrong. Just that I disagree with this idea that organisms haven't changed that much throughout the course of their history on the planet. I formed my theory from my existing knowledge of sexual behavior (which is based on scientific findings, as can be seen by my sources).

I have no idea where you got creationism from and "sweeping evolution aside" when all my points are hinged on evolution.

I never said "organisms haven't changed" - I said, when something works, it tends to 1) evolve multiple times and 2) be conserved. You know that thing people say that you share 50% of your DNA with a banana? That's because at the cellular level, your cells and DNA functions rather similarly as the banana plant. I think the ‘how much casual sex question’ is very situationally dependent. Someone living in the suburbs with their parents is not going to have the same time as someone in a fraternity living with sorority girls. The people of PPD come at this with anecdotes. The evidence I’ve seen in aggregate suggests a declining number of sexual partners in young people and and an increase in the number of people who are virgins into their 20s. But then you have people liked my buddy who’s slept with 80 women and even if you divide that number in half, the dude slays. And then you have people like my college neighbor who’d like to pick out special outfits for each new guy she planned on seducing. The edge cases get discussed here a lot, but most people simply aren’t having that many partners.

How does this relate to your initial premise? Your premise was that inadequate parental leave policies are at fault, yet the nations with the best parental leave policies have the lowest birthrates.

I wonder, man, how soon would I/should I drop someone after I find they don’t want kids?

This is the topic I'm debating myself with now.

So, two dates ago, she said she considered going childless, although she also seemed to waffle in having a kid. In theory, depending on how much I like someone, that's acceptable for me. But at the same time, from the last date, she said she wanted to have, like, four or five cats (she already has one) along with a dog.

To me, it seems like the pets are her child-alternatives, and not pets. Combined with my cat allergy, that just seems excessive to me.

I think relationships are about communication and compromise. I don't mind a pet if she doesn't mind a kid. If she's fully gung-ho about having so many cats and no children, I'd seriously consider leaving the relationship.

Based on your replies I’ve deduced the following. But grain of salt because it’s based on my experiences.

Meaning you don’t seem to have that gush of feel good feels which has freed up your brain to pedant about compatibility.

Ngl. When the compatibility is there I don’t have to overly think about wondering if it’s there. When I start thinking too much it’s because the compatibility isn’t there.

You also said you don’t have any of the NRE feelings as described by the link. Don’t fret. Many ppl don’t. But those who don’t need to ask themselves “why am I in this relationship, again?” And ask yourself is that what you want for the rest of the relationship or marriage because it won’t get any better than what you’re experiencing now.

Honestly, I don't think I've had any of those NRE feelings even with those I've only dated once or twice. It can truly be just a compatibility thing, or just me on that point. But relationships overall is fairly new to me, so I don't wish to be quick to judge the scenario as I don't have that experience to really judge for.

All I can do is take my time to be sure. The relationship itself is only about a month or so in, so it feels too rushed to make a final judgement call.

Though Mech has debunked the idea amongst wolves, alpha males are very much a real concept amongst some primates. “I could take you into the forest in Costa Rica, show you a group of monkeys and say, okay, pick out the alpha male,” says Kathy Jack, a primate behavioral ecologist at Tulane University who studies alpha male behavior in Capuchin monkeys. “It probably wouldn't take you very long to figure it out.” The male who eats first, whom others move out of the way for, who lies down for a grooming and is instantly approached by others to get the cleaning done — these might all be the marks of an alpha male. In some species, dominance manifests with biological changes too. Capuchin alpha males typically grow to be the biggest ones of the group, and once a male Mandrill becomes an alpha, for example, his testosterone levels rise and his testicles grow larger.

In primates where alpha males exist, where an individual ranks often determines their reproductive success, Jack says.

Chimps, for example, have alpha males. People get hung up on the wolf thing and think it debunks the entire concept of the alpha male. These people should probably read a bit more before they upload videos of themself trying to talk about something they're not all that familiar with.

I'm sympathetic to her overall point but my main issue with the whole "alpha male theory is based on studies of wolves in captivity and thus is inapplicable to humans" is that modern humans basically are living in captivity.

We're a species that effectively domesticated ourselves, and a lot of our rebellious antisocial behaviors stem from that fact.

That said, studies of so called alphas in other species obviously don't map exactly onto humans. But glamorization and fetishization of male rebelliousness, aggression, and social/physical dominance is cross-cultural, and there's pretty clearly something viscerally attractive about it to women. The issues that the male mythopoeic movement and adjacent texts like NMMNG were analyzing were about how excessive male prosociality and docility were harming men just as much as so called toxic masculinity.

Yeah climbing with a mask blows, but it blows less than the gym imo. I can never stay consistent with noncompetitive sports because I get bored out of my mind...I ain't working a 9-5 to work another hour

Actually if you follow that link, for a majority high intelligence IS off putting.

If the dude thought he was gods gift to women because of how smart he was and was failing but unable to see why and blaming other factors than perhaps the idea would apply.

And I'm not saying you are wrong about the personality, only that he would simply be unaware that there was more to it than his intelligence at play, but that doesn't put him into Dunning Kruger or anytime you miss what the real issue is that would apply.

Its also not a universal. I know I suck at sculpting. Its not because I'm actually very good but underestimating my ability (which is also Dunning Kruger) but I just suck.

he’s self purported intelligent but wasn’t coming off that bright per my comment about him not connecting simple dots.

I'm willing to give benefit of the doubt in that I know some very intelligent people who I wouldn't trust to cat sit, and even the better ones will often overthink things.

second time i encounter this "everything is nature" argument here and I'll say the same thing: you're technically correct but there is obviously a distinction between man made effects and natural design in practicality. If there weren't, we wouldn't have separate concepts in language, in law, in public discourse, etc.

Nature - the forces in space, earth, particles, DNA, death, life - are objective and impartial.

Humans, we make decisions based on our conscious or subconscious interpretations of sensory input that is usually to self-benefit DESPITE being able to understand the consequences.

Forces without conscious partiality, so called objective, or those that do not have concepts of consequence, and especially deception (animals, etc.), are good equalizers (unbiased, random).

I can respect entropy, i can't respect idiots. There is my "ethics" that allows me to make the both the claim 1) life is not egalitarian and 2) govt fuck off my business with moral consistency (your judgement of me that i am pushing against)

Well if we get war and colonisation, we can see if those men really are losers(or if that's just your opinion) and if you can come out on top or not.

when i say loser, I'm not taking about like, the scrawny nerd in high school with no friends. I'm talking about people who are not succeeding in the system. We are both losers of our govt system, almost everyone is, the only winners are the multi-millionaires, leadership of major industries, and some top politicians. When I say, im gonna come out on top, i mean that i will expend my life energy to joining thia elite group, or die trying.

That would definitely be my preferrence. I'd definitely trade longer commute to the city for more land, privacy and bigger house.

Yea, the thing with that is that the houses in the suburbs out here honestly look fucking terrible, lol. But yea, you'd def get more house + land the farther north/south you go. Eastside of Lake Washington is weird in that it gets more expensive, but a ton of that is due to Microsoft $$.

The general location is great in that it's a city that is very close to nature, which is super cool (and like, there's skiing within an hour drive of downtown Seattle, for example).

As far as why PPD people might dislike it here, aside from the fact that it has been called one of the worst cities to date in, the social environment is relatively cold and quite insular compared to other regions. Clubs here are really not a huge thing (think more breweries and bars instead). And the general culture most of the people here fit into is one that would drive a lot of people on this sub mad.

They can! And I have friends that do that. But realistically it's like less likely for several reasons:

Less men are likely to agree to this. This might be because of societal expectations.
For the first year or so, breastfeeding is a thing that only the mother can do. It's very likely for the child to get attached to mom like this. My friend that has a house husband still has her youngest very attached to her because of breastfeeding, even though she's working and he's doing most of the child rearing. This works for them, but between two reasonable people, most women will just go "ok fine, I can do the child rearing so it's not so complicated"
It generally makes sense for the person that's making less to do the primary child care, which often falls on the woman.

It's usually expected that the woman will make the sacrifice. You can go against expectations, but I'm talking from a population level here.

My numbers were correct. If you want to add in Caring for and helping nonhousehold members then were talking about an addition 0.04 h/day added to the women total, which changes nothing.

Women spend more time shopping, and sleeping/grooming, men spend more time on leisure. The difference, like I said, is nothing more than a few minutes in any given day.

It’s a reduced answer that sounds like a non-answer. I used to have severe social anxiety, and it’s probably in part why I come off like a male incel to people if everything is just over text. I could write an essay about this. He needs to socialize more and broaden his social circle. He needs to be able to talk to women platonically. I'm sorry to hear that. I used to get that grimaces, eye rolls, people's smiles dropping, etc when I was younger, but I couldn't tell why at the time.

I'm still a little awkward in real life and I don't know how I can fix it, but I can feel myself becoming more likable the more I talk to people. Socializing is a muscle that needs maintenance. When you don't get it, your socializing "muscle" is limp and frail which presents to your exterior confidence.

It sounds shitty, but looks are also a really a defining feature to not seem "weird." If you look up "decline blackpill" on YouTube, you may know what I mean. He used to be somewhat approachable in appearance and maybe even a little cute at the start of his videos +5 years ago and know he looks/acts genuinely creepy.

Completely agree. So far been on 4 dates since breaking up w my ex in early august. The first one i got there and my hands were literally shaking. I had not met a new girl that i didn't have some sort of previous contact with at any point since 2017. After my college ex, i just hooked up with the number of women i had already hooked up with who went to my college, because i was lazy, we both liked eachother for sex, etc. So even though technically i went on maybe half a hundred to a hundred total dates in those two years, i had no nervousness or anything and it became routine.

Then i dated my ex for the next 2 years and I'd known her from middle and elementary school.

So. In August when i went on my first date with a girl off tinder, i was a wreck. Then the 2nd one went better and i got a rebound off of it. Even though she did comment on my hesitancy to fuck her immediately when we got home. I guess she was used to "straight to the bed room" lol. Anyways. Then the 3rd one i wasn't quite interested in her so i didn't really care. Then the 4th one i just went on sunday was the best. Fucking best. We had literally a 10 hour date and it was so smooth and natural. Great in bed. Very intellectually compatible. And im gonna see her again before i move.

I honestly don't know. I do feel like men want casual sex more than women, so it creates a market imbalance. I'm not certain on exactly the cause of that, and can be convinced it's biological, social, or a mix of the two. I feel like it's a mix of the two, I feel like biologically there is a difference, but that causes a social structure that amplifies it. For example, before puberty, my brother and I had the same strength, I was actually stronger because I was a bit older. But because people think men are strong, my parents always made my brother do physical work. I remember thinking, of course he's going to be stronger if he has to lift/carry all the things and I don't. Men are biologically stronger eventually, but the fact that we expect men to do all the physical labor makes men more athletic than they otherwise would be, and women less athletic.

I'm open to hearing other people's opinions on it too.
