Story time:

I have a female friend. One I care for and have helped when she was in a pinch, and though I find her attractive, due to a mental health thing on her end, I'm unlikely to ever try dating her.

We were chatting casually about our day, and right before talking with her I'd watched a video advocating universal paternity testing. I was just skimming the topic and hadn't even made a specific case for it, but merely mentioned in passing that as a man it made pretty obvious sense to me. Insert record scratch here. She immediately argued against it, like the whole tone and focus of the conversation shifted so fast that I got proverbial whiplash. The topic took over the conversation, and she took the idea as an attack on women, though I calmly pointed out that it's not an attack on women, but rather, a protection for men against fraud (and indirectly protects some women too). After all, we have passwords and IDs and captcha's, etc., etc., to protect against all manner of fraud. People commit fraud - it's what they do. So it only makes sense to protect people from fraud. I work with money, where all day long it's fraud this, fraud that; everything we do, and much done in probably most industries, really, is influenced by or complicated by the existence of fraud. It's not a joke. That this particular type of fraud can only be committed by women is merely a biological coincidence. Nature is sexist.

Despite the use of a word as ugly as fraud, she strongly defended women's ability to deceive as if it were a right. She wants women to be able to deceive men unrestricted!

I was kinda shook, I'll admit. My dear friend, who I usually think is a darling. If there was any previous dating potential before, she's red flagged all over it; where I thought we'd probably never date, now it's a definitely never. I know she wants children, and so do I. So how could I possibly knowingly go into a relationship where the woman insists that women should be able to steal from men and get away with it scot-free? Doesn't that scream, "I intend to cheat!"?

I operate by the maxim of keeping things simple. I don't even password protect my phone around my girlfriend, cause I don't have anything to hide from her. Shouldn't women who do not intend on cheating similarly have no issues with universal paternity testing? If you're not cheating it doesn't affect you. And making it universal would make the cost dirt-cheap and it'd just fade into the background of all the other tests and bloodwork and password verification that we do in this modern life anyway.

I'm tempted to bring it up again some day and see if I can bring her around to reasonableness. But I also feel it would be a lost cause, and potentially, a lost friendship. I'm disappointed and saddened that she wouldn't stand against fraud in an easy, no-pressure situation. I guess I just have to re-categorize her mentally. I'm kinda afraid that if I asked around, I'd have to re-categorize many women mentally. And with the pandemic on top of that and all the dumb-asses in the news, I'm just disappointed broadly in humanity these days, cause humans are dumb and irrational and hypocritical and if you trust them, they'll let you down. Sigh. 😔

Moral of the story, guys: don't discuss paternity fraud with a female friend if you want to remain friends with her.

Just found that someone I went to high school with just got married one month ago. He is Christian and found a good Christian girl from the south. They're in their mid twenties which by today's standards would be considered crazy; why didn't both he and she slut it up and get married only after the age of 35? That's what liberals would probably be asking.

Can't wait for him to have kids. His parents and my parents are friendly and I'm happy for his and his entire family.

spent my first plane ride listening to a 2hr podcast, Huberman brought in this Buss dude... straight up eerie to hear to source of all the RP shit i read here. Albeit, i learned nothing new lol.

Huberman's episode on bonding was far more interesting. A point that I've noticed before hearing the podcast, and had previously discussed with my partner: humans bond through "events" .. shared experiences, such as going to a concert togehter, the movies, a dinner, etc.

Huberman emphasized how important this type of bonding is and how it's a great tool for forming relationships. He mentioned that relationships that are just based on merely enjoying the interaction with the other are less widespread.

Our perspective on the other hand is that the reliance on external events to bring two people together signifies they need a lubricant to have something to talk about or do, and that isn't really a good relationship. What do y'all think? How important are external events to your relationship (be it romantic, familial, or platonic relationship)?

Another note, perhaps this reliance on an events during the dating phase causes a false sense of connection that makes people unhappy later on in the relationship when events aren't as frequent. They don't have much to talk about or do without it, and end up feeling bored and leaving the relationship to return to the dating events phase of a new relationships.

Landing pages nowadays typically are these polished things with "Pricing" "Blog" "About" "Login" "Signup" tabs full of wishy-washy descriptions to dress up some trivial bullshit. For $10/month? Seriously? Just to send me a reminder? I guess? Which is why I almost always head immediately to youtube to find someone struggling through the lack of documentation to show me what the fuck they're talking about because there must be some reason people feel the need to drop $10 on some bullshit.

But this brings me to my main point: I want to destroy the words "stunning" and "brilliant". I am so tired of seeing it slapped everywhere on every fucking landing page of every fucking half-witted library of whatever. HEY EVERYONE I USED A THESAURUS FOR THE WORD GOOD BECAUSE IF I SAY GOOD ENOUGH YOU WON"T NOTICE I"M SAYING NOTHING. "Create stunning this" and "Brilliant that". The OED needs to start deleting words rather than adding new ones.

And my advice to all the coders out there: HIRE SOMEONE ON FIVERR OR WHATEVER WHO KNOWS HOW TO FUCKING WRITE. God.

I preferred the gaudy 90's hand crafted HTML. At least it had some personality. But they were also mostly created by english lit or library science majors.

Whenever I’m looking and or feeling good, I’m much better at talking to women. Feeling good or not, I’m much more confident and more socially smooth than I was say… 5 years ago. Even something as simple as holding eye contact used to seem so hard, now not so much!

But now I have a different problem. I can’t tell when a woman is being nice to me/having a good convo with a stranger or if she’s feeling the kid. This problem is even more layered when they’re workers. 😫

Like today, I was talking up an owner of a store and it was really nice. She eventually reached out her hand and asked for my name. I gave her the light death grip lol. She said I should come by more. Is this a ploy for my money? Or was she feeling the boy?

I may not act autistic anymore (generally lol), but I definitely still have a brain of an autist 😭

I keep telling myself this, but I really need to get serious about my hearing loss and figure out a hearing aid. 😔 I don't know if it's denial or laziness; probably a combination of both. I used to blame cost for my procrastination but the tech evolved and has driven the price down.

Bone conduction hearing aids seem kinda neat and cyborgish, but that requires an actual procedure, insurance, doctors appointments, etc. Whereas I can just roll into Costco, pick up a hearing aid OTC, and hope for the best.
