Women ultimately want commitment. And they want it from a HVM. And they want it (generally) here before they start having kids and hit the wall.

Hypergamy exists in this sense:

men are like stocks. Their true worth (from a relationship perspective) is their value over time. Because once she’s starts having kids it’s a lifetime commitment to being a mother and that is her #1 job. She doesn’t have time to deal with an underperforming husband and father.
hypergamy exists in the sense that women are always gambling on whether the stocks we buy today and going to be blue chips over time. And this is where most men fall down because men don’t understand that this what women want from them.
when men fail to deliver ROI over time women start calculating whether they can trade up or whether it’s too late and they have to make do. Men have a major problem with this because they don’t think they need to keep delivering value over time. They think, hey i gave her want she wanted — I committed, married her and provided a home. I got what I wanted, my job is done.

And they think this because to men, women are the opposite. It’s a vastly different investment strategy. If she doesn’t produce returns over time, he just goes out and buys additional stock — no need to trade up. Because the old stock may not be giving him 15% annually but it’s at least a safety hoard of cash for the worst case scenario.

So basically what I am saying is that men have moralized their polygamous nature while demonizing hypergamy.

So your first link is saying they would want their partner to value their personality over their looks, mainly because their looks fade over time.

And your second link is all the studies that suggest women do like men taller than them?

I mean... yeah if short dudes were given the choice "Do you want to be valued for your looks or your personality" they would say personality because they want women to look past the height. Yeah it's hypocritical that women don't want their ideal fantasy man to be shallow where in reality these women are shallow themselves.

It might be gaslighting to tell a 5'5'' dude his height is ideal. Idk, every woman has a different minimum where shortness becomes a detriment. The average height for a US male is 5'9''. That's plenty tall from where I'm standing. 5'6'' is probably my personal minimum where if you are shorter than that you look less attractive.

Here's a compilation of almost everything I've heard here

So there definitely is a threshold. But I think where it gets murky for women(And I'll get to men after this) Is though most do want or prefer a 6 foot+ man, they're willing to settle/compromise a few inches off. Which means they think it is in fact "negotiable".

Cause after all, half of all men are 5'8 or taller(Which is already 75% taller than most women I think). And fwiw I have managed to find women that will accept me. I couldn't tell my n-count for instance. But it took thousands of matches and discussions to get my game to where it is.

And as for men, men usually get turned down a lot as it is when it comes to dating. So they probably don't consider the discrimination of manlets to be much worse than it is for normal men or even "chads". Cause as most women will tell you, height isn't everything.

I feel like you actually understand and you're being facetious, but just in case you're being serious:

"Ax" isn't new. It's ye olde Englishe stuff, been around for centuries. It mostly died out, but not completely, so the majority of modern speakers say "ask" and are surprised when they hear "ax." Some things kinda waffle back and forth over the centuries. There's evidence that "ash" is also another version of the word, though that one did completely die out.

"finna" is from "fixing to," from Southern American English. "Fixing" was around in the 18th century, I think? At some point that became "fixing to," then "finna." I've heard a few younger millennials (including my brother) say "funna." And I've heard one guy say "I was going to fix and to ..." and that sounded really weird and redundant to me, but hey, language does funny things and it doesn't happen everywhere, and even when it happens in multiple places, as mentioned before, it doesn't happen at the same speed.

That guy was from Sarasota, Fl, so maybe he grew up with a a touch of Southern English in his otherwise "Standard American." Whereas I grew up in South Florida, which is NOT part of the cultural "South," but my brother's English is influenced by African Americans and Hip-Hop, and of course many African Americans' English is heavily influenced by Southern American English in general.

Let's not play with definitions.

Im not sure there’s an agreed upon one but let’s see.

The implication is that men never need independent verification or confirmation from their buddies (or anyone) about whether a girl is hot or not or whether to date her or not. That's the main thrust of that saying.

Ah I see. Yeah I’ve seen ppd men say this with an implication that women are asking their friends if a man is attractive before she dates him?

What exactly does this mean?

If it means that, it can’t be true because women do that exact opposite: “y’all can call him ugly if you want, he’s cute to me.”

Women do not confirm or verify with each other to determine if a man is sexually arousing to her.

I think men are conflating the effects of status. Women are aroused by that. A cute man who has demonstrated the ability to command a room is even more sexually attractive than a facially cute man who cannot. The former man will likely become popular because of his aura and affect and impressiveness/talents.

That about him is what women are drawn to.

But this belief that a woman likes a man because her friends think he’s cute is missing the forest for the trees.

Last night, my boyfriend and I went over to a friend’s house and met her boyfriend for the first time. The guy is in tech, believes 40hr work week is a scam, and has an entire section of his apartment for his gaming gadgets (as he eagerly showed us pictures and told us he games from 4-8:30pm most days).

Somewhere during his talk about his gaming consoles; my boyfriend says “aren’t you a little old for video games” which led to a 2hr debate where my bf was being a douchebag and my friend’s guy kept citing how gaming makes him better at his job in cybersecurity and “mentally fit.” The whole thing was a shit show😬

I most likely lost a friend since my guy was such a jerk about someone gaming instead doing activities he deems worthwhile I.e swimming/golfing, working out, or reading and I am about to marry him so it’s not like this girl and I can be friends when our men hate each other

obsession is often money. if you read too much trashy novels as a kid, you will end up with an 800 on your SAT verbal. Right there that can send you to an ivy league college. Decisions of parents make children's lives average.

not true at all. because there are tons of tech millionaires too.

we all know people who start their hobby as a kid have a huge advantage in skills accumulation and expertise.

having an apple 2 as a kid? HUGE advantage. a kid using HTML to make a basic website in the 90s? HUGE advantage. interested in learning to program to modify video games like Doom? MASSIVE advantage even if it doesn't make you a billionaire and merely leads to a job as a software consultant.

reading goosebumps and collecting them as a kid? MAJOR advantage. this is real reading comprehension skills that take you to the next level when it comes to career choices.

all of these things are just skills, they form connections in the brain, which is crucial for children and gives them insane lifetime advantage. this is why there is correlation between simply how many books a kid has in their home and their income later in life.

Meaning logically speaking, they are now the bigger risk to be around, since this means they are more likely to have covid and not know it; thus be spreaders of Covid.

This makes sense on an individual level, but less sense on a population level when you consider vaccination status as a heuristic for lifestyle RE: corona in general.

I don't think it would be uncontroversial to say that someone who doesn't want a vaccine is more likely to, on average, not wear a mask, not respect social distance, pay for things in cash, host and attend large events, and dine out. Many of these people see living life as they did pre-COVID as an act of protest, even if there are minimal actual restrictions in their area.

Meanwhile there's a kernel of truth to the right wing meme about people who aren't them being "afraid of virus", in that they've almost definitely avoided doing at least one of the above things for the purpose of not getting or spreading the rona.

I’ve been caught, yes, but the way I see it is that the two things are separate so what they don’t know won’t hurt them kind of thing.

I understand this isn’t how most people think, but the way I see it is that I have two sides to me. The person who loves my partner and will do anything for them and the person who gets stimulation from seeking attention from other women.

This is definitely because of my own mental health issues, but it is separate from the relationship and I think the girls I’ve been with realize this which is why they don’t leave me.

As for me being cheated on, I think I was once, but I didn’t realize it at the time. The girl I was seeing would get picked up from my house and tell me not to go outside because the guy who picked her up, while just a friend, was really weird when he found out she was hanging out with other guys.

My current partner is truly perfect for me and I’m behaving myself for her because I know it will hurt her if she catches me again.

But I’ve spent a lot of time analyzing myself and why I am the way I am and I’m pretty sure for me it just comes from the fact that I didn’t start having sex until I was 21.

So it’s a sense of entitlement that I somehow deserve multiple women without any consequences and also it’s the fact that sneaking around and cheating satisfies this craving to know what it feels like to be a teenager having to sneak around parents to have sex with your boyfriend or girlfriend.

Plus it’s just an ego boost to have 5 girls you’re talking to simultaneously be smitten over you and to also have a long term partner who loves you.

I’m not saying my actions have never hurt anyone emotionally because they have, it’s just that in my mind the affairs aren’t real, they’re just fun, and I guess saying it out loud that is why it’s wrong because while it isn’t real to me, it is real to the other girls I was talking to so I am playing with peoples emotions

When people swipe on dating apps for example, women determine if you’re attractive or unattractive. If you pass the attractive test then they’ll will scroll down and view your “personality”. Your likes and dislikes and scan your bio. But if you never got past the attractive - unattractive part they won’t bother to find out more.

Since that’s not how vaginas work

I always found it funny, teachers would always say 'Keep your essay concise and to the point', and yet graded the exact opposite. I remember in one class on literature, I wrote one essay that was really well thought out, concise, to the point. It did ok (80%-ish). The next essay I had almost no good points, and just filled it with page after page of nonsensical bullshit. Got a 100% and the teacher was so impressed she read my essay in front of the class as an example of how to write a good essay... while I sat in the back row, slack-jawed and /facepalming.

I can write bullshit with the best of them... and it's just that, bullshit. Humanities and social sciences COULD be useful, but the vast majority of people/profs/research is just pseudo-intellectual morons patting themselves on the back because they made simple concepts even more obtuse and unintelligible.

I don't want to be in a dick measuring contest with her about her educational or career accolades. You can be proud of your accomplishments, but guys don't want to date or make friends with careers or degrees, they want to date or make friends with people. My and my friend's degrees were a tool to help us make more money, it doesn't need defending or much more than 30 seconds of conversation except for funny college stories or if we're in the same field and want to talk about silicon shortage woes or something.

I don't make friends for the purpose of comparing accolades or talking about work, I do it to play board games, go for motorcycle rides, play mario kart, or whatever. Work isn't entertaining, school is even less fun. If that's your whole personality then the conversation is going to be very dry and hostile because unless we're coworkers interacting on a project or directly learning from each other as classmates, I'd rather move on to something else. Some women (and men) seem to require that I be impressed, or demonstrate knowledge of their field before they're willing to move on in a conversation, for many guys that's not worth the hassle.

I see it slightly differently, I see it as guys acting out of necessity rather than deceit.

I am completely self aware and up front that I am manipulative and I know exactly what I’m doing to get girls to like me, but I didn’t come to this place because I’m an evil person.

I used to want marriage and companionship, but I realized that women aren’t pure like the way television and movies try to convince us. Call it a Madonna/whore complex or whatever, but I shedded all those beliefs and I realized the only way to get girls interested in you is to present a false self that lures them in and then push them away slightly and pull them back in repeatedly to get them hooked on you.

If she forgives you once she might forgive you a second time. If she forgives you a second time then she’ll most likely forgive you a third time.

If she forgives you the third time then you know her commitment is real.

The thirst never ends does it?

My mom is 71 years old, in the 7 years since my father died she's had to turn down 6 men trying to be her boyfriend; the latest is a recent widower (as of Sept 2021).

The man is a long time family friend, actually the father of my childhood best friend, his wife was also my piano teacher. He's known my mom for about...32 years? As far as I gather he was faithful and steadfast to his wife, but 3-4 months after she kicks the bucket he's already sniffing after my mom.

She's retired, she's a grandmother, and she's finally living on her own terms after a lifetime of taking care of everybody else. All she wants to do is travel, gossip about family and neighbors, attend her fitness classes at the Y, have brunch with me, and fuss about her grandson. Yeah. Hard to control for cultural factors. I mean older girls are better at glamming up, holding themselves, etc.

I teach HS where there are uniforms and makeup rules. Usually the 15 year olds do not even register as attractive. The 17 and 18 year olds sometimes do. But one year we had this Xmas party where the kids were allowed to glam fully up. Not sure what the school was thinking. Canceled after that. But my kids are rich. They got help with makeup. Wore semi-slutty cocktail dresses and heels.

It was like 'Holy shit. These 15 year olds look like women suddenly.' At least when they were posing for the inevitable pics. Then they'd start to move and get all slouchy and non-sexual like 15 year olds should, and even with the makeup they'd go back to being children haha

But this is China. I imagine in the US even 15 year olds are more sexed up and move more confidently and sexually. Gotta love modern culture.

For me in particular the reason I was an incel was because most of my early relationships involved me becoming verbally abusive at the first sign of any rejection.

Like I was 16/17 and I would get all upset because the girl I was dating wanted to wait to have sex with me even though we’ve only hung out once.

Idk, looking back it seems so reasonable. I was jealous because I was a virgin and they had mostly lost their virginity at 15 and in my head I was like what is wrong with me, why am I such a loser that no girl likes me enough to want to have sex with me.

I didn’t have any empathy or understanding for their situation. Of course they’d be nervous to have sex with the person they had sex with broke up with them, they were defensive of their bodies.

I saw some guys who would sleep with a lot of girls then break up with them and I wanted to be like them because I felt I wasn’t good enough.

I didn’t realize until my 20s what was going on. When a girl would say she wanted to wait I’d say some really awful things like about how she was wasting my time. That must have been awful to hear from someone you did like.

But then I realized it was easier to get girls to be sexual with you if you acted more patient so looking back what I should have said was something like "it’s ok, I just want you to be comfortable, I’ll wait until you’re ready, I just like you so much"

TRP will say that won’t work, but believe me it does. I tried to be the macho agressive guy but I’ve gotten much better results being more quiet and intimate and sweet which is behavior guys will say are simp traits.

The issue is maybe it wasn’t being an incel that messed me up, maybe it’s because I have a personality disorder. I mean I can lie to women to get them to want me and I don’t feel guilty about it, I feel incredibly entitled and I justify my deceitfulness because of my belief that I was an incel.

Funny thing is I made out with a lot of girls when I was a teenager, but aside from one blowjob and having sex once at 17 I couldn’t figure out how to get regular sexual attention.

Idk, I guess what I’m trying to say is that sometimes people have red flags and don’t realize it

Almost any given man who doesn't have serious, biologically-based mental issues or is taller than 5'5" can in theory stop being an incel and get some women. This is true on an individual level.

But on a macro level, below average people are below average in many ways, usually including motivation and discipline. So as a group, the chances of them all improving are zero.

There's always gonna be a lot more unfuckable men than women due to greater male variability (if the right tail is wider for men, so is the left), and due to greater female sexual selectivity. That's life. We can't really worry too much about those incels.

The question just becomes at what point does male sexlessness become too high? If 10% of men are incels, OK. But if we get to 20% or 30%, then its those next 10-20% we need to worry about more. If we go to 50%, I think we may be in big trouble.
