the resident conspiracy theorist at my job is surprised that he didn't get a promotion. It's not like he made himself very liked within any team (called colleagues sheeple directly).

Apparently the fact that he was looking for the promotion got leaked (most likely intentional) and most of that team said they would leave the team/project/company if he became leader. The good part is that he was not the only candidate and certainly not the best, but somehow was still surprised.

I feel like the wall is a lot less based on age and more on how you take care of yourself, there have been 40-year-old women who I would rate as significantly more attractive than women in their 20s based on the 40-year-olds being slim, having a skin and hair routine and good genetics vs some 20-year-old girls who are overweight, eat like trash and such. Honest to god, for my entire life I've never considered a man's finances when I assess dating him. For a litany of reasons it struck me as embarrassing/low class/trashy/gold digger-ish.

The same attitude pervades all the girls I grew up with. I think its because we grew up very coddled and privileged off the backs of upwardly mobile middle class parents; everything was handed to us but we were also expected to go to school and have a career. Therefore a man's finances didn't mean much beyond telegraphing class, we assumed we would always have to take care of ourselves (18 years of 'go girl feminism' conditioned us for financial independence).

The type of spaces we inhabited (college campuses, entry level corporate jobs, internships, etc) already selected for men who received the same sort of programing we did (privileged but expected to work, acceptance of female autonomy).

So when we met these men they already understood and expected that we'd be working and not need their money. Courtship happened organically via hangouts, low key coffee dates, mixed gender outings, and any sort of gathering that focus of people rather than conspicuous displays of wealth. Fancy dinner dates or spending money at the club was extremely cringe, but getting handsy under a blanket at a bonfire was the epitome of romance.

Women and men who factor finances into romance are so weird to me. I intellectually understand, and I know about the divorce statistic, but I'm 38 years old and I still can't shake the feeling that its all very embarrassing and gauche.

Looks like the Boynetta voice actress was lying about her pay offer a bit. Calling for a boycot was a bad look IMO but 4k seemed ridiculous. It turns out the 4k was for a cameo role and would have been about 1k an hour of work after she refused the same about 1k an hour for multiple sessions. (the 1k an hour would have been studio time not practice time etc that would lower that rate I'm sure).

Apparently she demanded 6 figures plus royalties.

She also apparently played the how much this has caused her depression, anxiety, and would be thrown out on the streets.
