I work in a commercial gym.

Men, especially that younger 18 - 30 bracket, are for the most part absolutely helpless.

And not only that, they’re not aware of it and seemingly comfortable being that way.

The amount of men who are almost compulsively asking for help over the most embarrassing things ( note, I am not including asking for help in the sense of asking for help about how to use equipment or exercise properly. I respect anyone who doesn’t know what they’re doing in the gym who puts themselves out there and asks)

No, I’m talking about asking for help for things that I know when I was their age I’d absolutely try everything to avoid embarrassing myself by having to ask somebody for help.

I’m talking…basic stuff….”i spilt my water bottle, I can’t get in the gym, I cant log into my account, my membership has defaulted (ran out of money) have you had this handed into lost property” blah blah blah.

But it’s constant and shameless. Very basic adult things that if you have anything about you you’d be on top of.

And listen, I get it, sometimes little things happen and you need to go tail between legs to staff and ask a little boy question, but I am telling you, this younger generation of men its constant and more importantly they do it without shame and totally at comfort with it. It’s their default setting to revert to the nearest authority/parental/supervisory figure they can find before even trying to fix a problem themselves.

I feel they have been over mommied and trained to ask for things or to be just totally helpless, and I believe this carries over into their ability as partners and as members of society.

Men cannot fix things, they’re all socially awkward, they’re all a little bit of a mommys boy, they’re all kinda weak in a way?

You get outliers but these guys are clearly guys who had good role models and are into a hobby or job where competency and resilience are required.

I just feel I can’t blame most women, men really are a bit limp these days

I believe they used to be less reliant on others and more independent and confident and competent and that translated to dating
