Getting braces later and not as a teen has a surprising benefit. I was offered to fix my smile a bit more and "cut" a bit of gums and to "saw" a bit of frontal teeth to make them more even. I have no idea how it's called in English, so sorry for a terrible translation. The point is that it's purely about aesthetics and I refused to do both things. These faults are rather small and I'm okay with them, but I'm pretty sure that as an insecure teen I'd agree to do both the surgery and sawing in order just to be prettier. It's interesting to see how your perception of yourself changes with time.

I’m unemployed, live with my aunt and am overall a failure in life. I’m learning a new skill in then hopes that it will get me employment but I’m thinking what’s the point when I look at the job postings and they ask for more than I can possibly provide on my resume.

Most of the “bad boys” in my neighborhood growing up where white collar criminals. They did things like insurance fraud and credit card scams. They weren’t committing robberies or shooting people or things of that nature.

I always laugh at the “would you want your daughter to date a man like you???” Comments that come my way after I reveal that I can’t be misogynistic or sexist or a woman hater because I have a daughter.

Like if my daughter dated a guy like me she’d be well taken care of and loved as long as she wasn’t neurotic and/or off her rocker.

But in the real world she’ll be her own person and I’m sure she’ll piss a good dude off. A lot of women put good men in bad positions to do things that they’d never do because the woman can’t control herself.

Covid is a bitch. Fully vaccinated here, but still got covid and it hit me like a truck. Thankfully, after 4 days of being bedridden symptoms disappeared and I was fine. Wife is also vaccinated, but she had no symptoms whatsoever.

To compare it to other times I get sick, this has been the worst thing I got in the last 15 years. For me, usually getting sick is me feeling ill for 1 day max, take ibuprofen for that day and be fine with that. This time, the same treatment did almost nothing for me for the first 3 days.

The good thing is that at no time did I feel bad enough to think that I need professional medical attention. The good part is that I have been working from home since March last year, so after the 4 days I got my laptop in bed and started working; I worked in bed so I can try to keep somewhat of a distance from my wife so I at least try to protect her.

I watched Lady J on Netflix, which seemed like a straight up imitation of Dangerous Liaisons but is based on a different 18th century novel.

I posted this story on AITA during summer (with a near 50/50 opinion split in the comments), but I would rather PPD's thoughts on this.

In June I went out with my good friend of 15 years to this thing called First Friday. It's like a big art festival on the first Friday of every month. My friend had been down on his luck recently, and I was in a FWB situation with a girl I met from bumble, so decided to go out with him to see if I could wingman or pull anything for him.

We go to bar, hang for a bit, eventually I notice a cute redhead. Redhead is there with a guy, but I got some weird vibes that he was just some dude hitting on her and not a date or BF. Friend goes in for drinks, I go sit next to redhead and creepy guy to listen in on their convo, and lo and behold, this was just some dude hitting on her. She is clearly disinterested in creepy guy, turns to me and compliments my hat (it was this), so we strike up a conversation.

In comes my friend, who hijacks the conversation. This is good, I turn away and let him do his thing. Friend, redhead and creepy dude speak for a while while I stare at the floor. Friend even takes redhead away to buy her a drink, they chat for another hour or so, until redhead notices that friend and I are friends, and asks everyone to sit down at a community table. We sit. Friend and creepy guy get into an argument about fuckin vaccines (lol). During this, redhead (who is sitting next to me) puts her hand in my lap and whispers that she thinks I'm cute.

From there, me, friend and redhead hang out at the bar for 2+ish hours, then go back to her place for more drinks. Redhead and I make out every chance we get when Friend is in the bathroom or goes out for a smoke. When we uber back home, redhead and I kiss goodbye and Friend gets super pissed at me. We argued the entire way back to my house in the uber. He was literally shouting at me that I already had a girl so why did I have to "take his", and that I was "supposed to be the wingman". While I understood what he was saying, it's not like I'm a Casanova or anything, I take what I can get, and she was an attractive girl at a bar who initiated first with me and obviously rejected him, so why wouldn't I take my chance with her? They had an hour+ together without any interference from me and I stayed pretty quiet during the communal table talks. Like, I did my job as a wingman and she just wasn't interested. I told him this, he told me I was a selfish asshole.

This friend has been deadset on never going out with me again because I will "always ruin his chances", which is fucking nonsense. Like, he blew up our entire relationship over this one incident, as if I'm going to continually sabotage every chance he gets. November now and still don't know what to do or how to feel about the situation. This is the only fight me and this friend have ever been in so it feels pretty fuckin weird.

TRP talks about "decline."

Lets brainstorm scenarios that constitute to be societal decline.

1.) Single motherhood. Single mothers are replacing our current law abiding population with chad spawns with little to no masculine influence to correct their bad behavior which metastasize into far worse illegal or law breaking behavior as they grow older. End result of this being the said chad spawns growing up to be very force that's going to harm women's rights. Look at [unspecified] and south America for two great examples. Violence begets violence. Today's incels are moping around and complaining on the internet. Do you really think chad spawn incels of the future will do the same? How are adult chad spawns going to deal with hypergamy?

2.) Family values becoming a thing of past. Alternative arrangements becoming more and more of a norm. In what ways will this cause decline?

3.) Income inequality. Which is mostly unrelated to TRP but its big issue. In a way, this "the great resignation" we are currently undergoing is kind of a reaction to income inequality in many ways. I mean... if slaving away for 12+ hours a day (work+commute) still results in poverty like living, why bother slaving away? Why not be in poverty without all that wasted effort?

4.) climate change. Mass immigration from third world to first world is going to bring back fascism again and erase whatever liberal policies we enacted for decades. And turn many of today's third world countries into... fourth world countries meaning they could literally turn into defacto warlord/mob/criminal/terrorist states from the resulting upheaval.

I find this kind of hilarious. The new Accords are really good. Honestly it'd be a tough decision, but I'd probably rather own a loaded Accord Touring than a base 2/3-series, and you'll still come out 2-3k ahead with a car that'll be way less of a pain in the ass maintenance wise.

Only thing bad about the Accord is the long wheelbase which makes it feel like a boat.

There's a "deadbeat mom" joke on TikTok now. Basically gen z girls and gender related stuff but overlapped with childfree. Joking like "my kid won't remember what I look like" and "when I'm a mom... I won't be" and jokes about paying child support.

It makes me think it would be interesting in the future to see how the unprecedented disinterest in motherhood in gen z girls plays out. There will probably be more single fathers or kids being raised by grandparents. Already you see more and more cases of moms being the ones to abandon the family than in the past.
