Me and my boyfriend had a discussion on what men and women want in the other sex. If you were to read my previous posts, you’d see that I’m an opinionated woman and I rarely hesitate to speak up even though it honestly often scares the shit out if me. In general my confidence tends to go up and down, but I know my worth.

So when my boyfriend told me what men (in general) want is 🆘 submissive women 🆘, guys I thought I’d misheard him. This is a man who loves to tell me that I’m a force of nature. Who tells me I’ve inspired him to find his own core and self respect. A man who himself is caring, adjustable and has a great intuition for my wants and needs. He is, by nature, respectful and attentive. So I think you can understand why I was floored.

I proceeded to have a big reaction, not yelling or swearing but putting down some firm boundaries, to which he replied that I was being selfish in making the discussion about myself! rather than caring to explore his feelings. Long story short, we argued for HOURS and then he left. I was besides myself and called him crying (I know I shouldn’t have!) and he came back, but he didn’t stay even though I was on my knees begging (again, I know! Shame on me).

This happened a few days ago and we haven’t really spoken since, which has given me time to process things. And I think that I’ve come to the conclusion that even though he certainly didn’t speak for all men, he did likely speak for himself. His reaction to my reaction is telling me that he does indeed want a submissive woman. And I am not that.

I genuinely don’t know what’s happening right now. It’s truly breaking my heart.

Edit: in the time since I wrote this, he has sent me PAGES of disturbing messages. Borderline unhinged (for example, translating roughly: “after I scolded you the other day you seemed to feel remorse for your actions, but now I can tell that you’re back to being defensive”). I’m honestly in chock. I’m at work right now but I’m reading your replies when I can and my heart is lighter and more determined for it. I won’t be treated like this.
