I love her reply! I went on a date where this guy did something similar. He spoke non-stop about his job, his Mustang, his life, how he was adopted, etc. When I finally could talk about myself and my work, he immediately tried to act like he knew everything about it and tried to get me to shut up about it. Then, when I tested his knowledge, he got a little angry and said that I wasn’t doing anything cutting edge, just some “mundane” lab work. I told him that he wasn’t anything special since he just worked a mundane job at a car dealership. He could only half-laugh, half-snort in reply. The date was pretty much over after that.

I never saw him again, but I did get some nice beer glasses from local breweries that he insisted on buying for me. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve realized that when men need to be condescending and throw shade at me for things that aren’t really good reasons to throw shade, I’ve already won. They already feel “less than” than me as a woman because some element about me is very cool, wonderful, beautiful, or successful. I think we should consider applauding every time a LVM does this, because technically it’s giving applause for our own greatness.

No one who is truly confident and who is not jealous of you would ever need to cut you down. Especially over something that doesn’t need insulting( like being an amimator).

I work at a daycare, youth centre, and tutor on the side so I literally work with children all day long. Am I childish? Do I consider myself childish because I work in a field catered toward children? Hell no! I have to make serious decisions that could change their life.

Trust me, you do not want to be with people who think your job is childish. You’re always going to be seen as less than to him. You need to be with someone who genuinely sees value, respects your passions, and most importantly sees you as an equal.

I don’t mean to be rude and debase your brother, but the reason why he said what he said is because it’s out of projection and he probably never brought his partner to anywhere fancy either because he’s in the same position as his friend. Sadly, you can’t cut your brother out of your life but you can hang up on him when he says hurtful things as such. Being in the same spot as you, just know that you’re not like the girls that your brother and his friends date.

All I can say is that your brother and his friends are beneath you. Don’t ever consider any of them relationship material, and don’t give them a chance.
