You should touch grass man. 70% of men are in relationships. 70% of men are overweight or obese. Barely anyone is muscular and lean, yet basically everyone is relationship material.

What one is most attracted to is not what one requires as a baseline to consider sex or relationships. If you asked men what they are most attracted to, they'd say 22yo, attractive and slim women. Which is <1% of the female population.

I can’t imagine anyone would have a problem with this incredibly basic premise. Of course most women are attracted to traits that are socially considered desirable, but most women I know understand that it’s unlikely they’ll hook up with a 6’5” roided up stunt actor, and therefore treat men who don’t necessarily meet all of those standards as legitimate romantic options.

I feel really sorry that most men in this subreddit think that if a woman doesn’t seize on the ground in a puddle of primal attraction juices at the sight of them, they’re fundamentally worthless. The manosphere leaks some terribly toxic sludge sometimes.

And just because we can find those people hot doesn't mean we don't also find other body types attractive, certainly when it comes to someone you love.

A majority of men are also prefer the same body type - a slim hourglass figure. Does this mean the minority of women with this body type are the only ones who can get a date?

Obviously no to both. Because while most people may have a certain ideal preference, that doesn’t mean they aren’t attracted to a wider range of body types. The people who struggle due to body type are generally severely obese people and really small dudes. If you’re not overweight in the US you’re already above average in that department.

After reading the study which seems sound I still think you are vastly extrapolating their results and conclusions here.

The conclusions here is that. 1) Women rate men strength correctly based on pictures of their torso. 2) When presented with two pictures of a male torso, no other informations, and asked to rate the attractiveness of these males' body. Women rate attractivenes according to percieved strength.

You can't conclude from these results that most women are attracted only to men with this body type. Particularly you can't at all conclude this :

For the simple reasons there is hundreds of other criteria women select for when searching for a partner.

It's like when the vast majority of men in every culture rated bodies with a specific hip/waist ratio more attractive. The moment could be skinny, thick, fat, fit... it's always this ratio that had the biggest impact.

But in now way this indicate that women with a different hip/waist ratio can't be attractive to most men for a lot of other reasons. Both physical, social and personality wise.

This is no different than the majority of men being attracted to the same type of Women. I.E youthful, slim, good looking woman.

Just because men have much lower standards then women when it comes to who they are willing to sleep with doesn’t mean they are not generally most attracted to the same type of women. It’s not like there is a big debate between whether most men find Margo Robbie more attractive than Lizzo.

Woman might live on easy street if all they care about is getting laid but if they are not conventionally attractive( as most people aren’t) they actually have it harder than guys if they are looking for somebody genuinely attracted to them-which is very different then finding a guy just looking for a wet hole. At least guys have the possibility of using other attributes beyond their looks to attract an attractive partner(money, status, intelligence, humour ect…). If a woman is not naturally beautiful no amount of compensating in other areas of her life is going to secure her a monogamous partner significantly more attractive than she is.
