Did a family assessment with a dad the other day over the phone bc mom was resting.. he couldn’t answer basic questions like “ are there any safety concerns at home?” “What are your expectations for your daughter in treatment?” He kept acting irritated that I had the audacity to expect him to know these answers! I wanted to say “your daughter was just in a mental hospital for two weeks.. maybe the fact that she’s so depressed has something to do with the fact that her father really couldn’t care less.”

This is nothing. Most of them can’t even fill out the intake paperwork. I worked in my uncle’s orthopedic practice in high school and college. It never failed to amaze me how many left their kid’s birthday/ social empty or had to call their wives to ask. They would never have their insurance card and were always asking if you could just look it up for them. They also didn’t understand the basic principles of insurance, like you pay your copay and if your kid needs a cast, you’ll have to hit your deductible. I was 16 explaining this to grown ass men. You’d also see them in the waiting room asking the kids if their right wrist or left wrist was broken. Like use your eyes and look!

The funniest thing is that they can't even take care of themselves. When in hospital, we ask them basic questions. What medication do you take? Since when? Etc.... Most of the time they act mad and call me incompetent for asking such questions to mask the fact that they don't know it themselves. "I'm taking a blue pill", sir, do you have any idea how many blue pills there are on the market?

So they wait until their wife arrives who can tell me exactly what medication he takes. It's fucking unbelievable. And DON'T get me started with the hygiene.

So much word to this. I have example after example With my ex husband. Not just with My kids but with his son from his first marriage.
Long story short- his son had pneumonia- kid had a high fever and was very sick. He would not take him to the hospital, so I did. After that I knew I could not trust him with our kids either. I have custody.
So many fathers are completely clueless- or can’t be bothered to give a fuck. Now when THEY get sick, then it’s a big deal. But when their kid has a 103 fever and is hacking up a lung- “it’s just a cough”. Asshats.

So I had to have an ultrasound yesterday and I had to check in at the ER desk to be escorted back. When I got there, there was a younger teenage girl who had a very bad broken leg. Instead of helping the girl inside, her dad stood by and watched her try to use crutches and walk by herself while she was basically in hysterics from being in so much pain! She was sobbing and crying and just looking at her leg it was super obvious she had a bad break. What did he do? NOTHING!! This loser stood back and watched his own daughter struggle when she needed help the most. Didn’t carry her in, didn’t get a wheel chair. Nothing. I was so mad. What kind of horrible human doesn’t even help their own daughter into the ER?

Everything written about in the comments is part of the life-long scam perpetuated by men against women. They are all laughing at us behind our backs for accepting their shitty low-value behaviors, all the way to agreeing to marry them and have their children, only to be the sole caretakers for both them and the children. Some of them keep it going into abuse and even killing their female partners. For almost all of them, their only goals in life related to women are to trick them to the furthest point possible so they can feel powerful. Don't think for a second that considering ethics or even logic is anywhere close to the norm for men. Of course there are exceptions, but I'm describing the vast majority. If you feel like you've been "punked" your entire life by men, it's because you have been.

It’s hard not to shame them but I sometimes do, subtly, by repeating back “oh you don’t know your wife’s birthday or what medication you’re picking up for her or if she’s had it before even tho she gets it EVERY MONTH???”

Since my parents refused to take me to the doctor as a child, unless I practically was dying, this was not an issue for them. Being frank, my mother was as bad as my father. She never should have had children... Let alone three.

Her sex-ed talk with me consisted of "if you get pregnant get an abortion."

They are why I need FDS. I had zero positive role models growing up and moved out on my own at 17. Due to that, I was used and abused by men for over a decade.

My dad has always been very involved in me and my brothers' health. He was the main one taking us to the doctors when we were younger even, because my mom was the one working full time (she ofc knew what was going on though and always was updated after appointments!). I can't believe stuff like this post is so common, but then again I guess I can believe it 😞

When they were sick, they didn't go to the doctor, he'd give them herbal stuff only. It took the one boy who was 5 to have a perforated eardrum for this useless jerk to be like oh I guess maybe antibiotics would be smart let's to to the walk-in...

I am so sorry to my fellow women who are married or otherwise attached but do all the damn labour. It seems divorce is the only way to get most men to actually take responsibility - court appointed financual support and court appointed time without mom so she can have a damn break and live her own life for a day or two.
