I felt like i havent experienced much male privilege in my life, maybe its because im young(i just turned 20) i would even go so far as to say i was discriminated because of my gender, in school i could not have the hairstyle i want because it is against the rules to have hair past your eyebrows(when they comb it down) and hair touching your collar, so i was always forced to go to the barber to get haircuts i didnt like. That was just a minor grievance as a boy for me, but i was also shy and soft spoken, so people were always talking over me, in fact it was actually girls who had to ask people to listen to me in a group setting. I was also made fun of for being skinny and a pushover in school, my friend called me a "punching bag". I would usually cry alone in the toilet because i was taught to be ashamed of crying as a guy. And by far the worst one was that every male in my country had to be conscripted for 2 years when they turn 18, i managed to not be drafted since i transitioned before 18 but it still affected my life significantly.
After i transitioned i find life alot easier as a woman, people seem to care about my feelings more now and i have a loving boyfriend that takes care of me, people also seem to treat me nicer as a woman and i dont have to hide my feelings as much anymore. There are probably pros and cons to each gender but i just find being a woman alot easier for me. Maybe i havent experienced discrimination in the short time i transitioned into a woman because i have not entered the workforce yet (gender wage gap) but i dont think ill really have to worry that much about it since im going into a female dominated major and will be working in female dominated fields for my career.

I see a few valid points in your assertion. I’m going to take your points one by one, and please know that my disagreement with some of your points is coming from a place of respect and not hostility.

School hairstyle: You having to have short hair is wildly less prohibitive than most dress code standards for girls. Girls have to wear a certain length pant/dress/skirt, can’t have holes in their jeans, can’t wear leggings, can’t wear tight clothes, can’t wear shirts with spaghetti straps or tube tops- and these are just off the top of my head. There are more. The reasons girls are given these rules, often, is because they’re told it distracts the boys.
I don’t see how you being shy and soft spoken, and therefore spoken over, has to do with male or female privilege. Soft spoken females have people talking over them too.
Crying in the bathroom because you can’t show emotion: I agree men aren’t given enough opportunities to be vulnerable, but as it relates to privilege, women have it just as bad. Women get passed up for jobs, lose political elections, and are stereotyped against for being “too emotional” and are often considered incompetent for the same reason.
Conscription and drafting: Males having to be conscripted and potentially drafted is a very valid point. Just don’t forget how women who are in the military get treated. Lots of rapes, lots of degradation, lots of men who don’t want them there because they feel the other male soldiers would be too inclined to protect the women during combat instead of doing their job correctly.
People caring more about woman’s feelings: I’m not sure if people care about a woman’s feelings more, that’s your personal experience. It’s something I haven’t noticed but haven’t paid attention to. To keep it fair, I asked my husband what he thought and he said he thought there was an element of truth to what you said.
People treating you nicer as a woman: again, that is your personal experience and can be attributed to outside factors. You could be happier, more confident and outgoing, and comfortable with yourself as a woman, thereby affecting how you’re approached. My personal experience has been far different. Violence and sexism against women happens. Women get harassed, cat-called, and called bitches if they don’t welcome the behavior. Women are also often unkind to other women. I just don’t buy this argument in general, but glad people treat you nicer now. I agree there are pros and cons to each gender but I do believe men have more privilege than women.

1.Well we have uniforms here, so the dress code for girls is that they shouldnt have coloured bras and their skirt has to be at knee length, but i see girls pulling up their skirts all the time and teachers dont really bat an eye to it, only time i ever saw a girl getting dress coded for her skirt was another female teacher "advising" her to pull down her skirt but she went back to wearing short skirts the next day.

well i typically see people saying male privilege shows that guys get to talk over women and get taken more seriously/being listened to the most in a group but i havent experienced that so i was just pointing it out. I agree soft spoken women get talked over all the time as well, maybe even more than soft spoken guys but idk about it as there are no way to compare this as its different for everyone.
Nothing to say here as i havent have much experience in the workforce, maybe you are right, a common point people make for women being bad leaders is that they rely on their emotions, i mean even women say that they prefer men for leaders, there are some explanation for this, one being that women are judged more harshly for their attitude even if its identical to men, or like you said women preferring men could be because women are unkind to each other so they dont want another women being their boss, also some men probably just hate women being their boss.
Ive never been in the millitary so i cant say much , and when i said conscripted i do mean they have to serve and undergo training in the millitary for 2 years, and it stressed me out alot as a kid because i know ill never adapt to the strict millitary life and regimen
I think its absolutely true people care more about womens feelings, because men are seen as protectors(which is also the reason why they cant show their emotions or be vulnerable as much as women) and i think its naturally ingrained in them to want to comfort emotional women, my boyfriend told me he has never cried for his whole life(other than when he was a kid/baby obviously) and i just find it sad and i wont look down on him if he cried in front of me, but i do want him to be emotionally strong for me so im not sure if i can accommodate his emotions if he shows it too much(i admit im probably part of the problem of men not being able to be vulnerable)
well yeah it is my own personal experience, just like how your personal experience is your own, i dont think it really determines whether male or females have more privilege overall because its different for everyone, in your case you probably do face more oppression if you were a female than if you were a male based on your experiences.

You know, that brings up something odd. Women get tons of empathy and support for their trauma and yet they still create shit like FDS. I can almost excuse TRP... almost... because men get no empathy for the shit they go through. That's what is causing the extreme magnitude of male radicalization.

Men all over the place castigate each other over being superficial. Women form a titanium solid hivemind about it and quadruple down with the open and fanatical purpose of atagonizing men. Like all those "short men should kill themselves" and "nerds drool jocks rule" memes. And it's not even just the women who post this shit - it's the absolute armored wall of silence by all the other women.

There's only so much of that shit that men can take from the female zeitgeist before the boiler explodes.

While he seems fucked I found the so called experts review to be an absolute joke.

She talks about how he should "rethink" his deal breakers to appeal to a larger group. Why on earth should he do that if he doesn't want them type of people??

She talks about changing his main profile pic, but shouldn't an expert know that tinder has a feature that cycles through your pictures and ranks them based on how many swipes they get?

She talks about how he should get rid of his tattoo pic and just put in his bio his love of tattoo's, but what if he doesn't have a love of tattoo's and his spontaneous try something new attitude led to him getting that tattoo? I think the pic shows this.

Why does he need to remove the Epstein pun? It sieves out those that don't believe it and maybe he doesn't want to be with someone who doesn't think it.

Just sounds like she expects all profiles to be some form of genericness.

You can't possibly show your full self on a dating app bio, you have to pick aspects to show off and he is picking the wrong aspects of himself. If I'm selling my car do
I take a bunch of pictures of the glove compartment and the spare tire and say "well this is my car as it is", with the mindset that anyone who see's this shit and still wants to buy must really want that car... Dating is emotional, you get the feels on lock first, then you let people see the flaws/quirks through that lens, not the other way around.

His deal breakers are vague because he doesn't say no fatties, or overweight, etc it says large size. You don't let someone else, especially a woman, fill in the blanks as to what constitutes a large size... You new to this? Also, your interpretation of extravagant highlights why that is a poor choice, as it doesn't necessarily mean living above your means at all. A Ferrari is extravagant regardless of whether you can comfortably afford it or not, but also going on a ski trip you saved 6 months for could be considered extravagant as well. Hell, buying a nice watch could be unreasonable to some. It's entirely based on their subjective point of view.

He is setting up women, that he could find a genuine connection with, to self select themselves out based on what THEIR interpretations of his dealbreakers are. That is, quite simply, fucking stupid...

You do know that there are people out there who don't swipe on clearly over elaborate profiles right? not everyone is looking for the try hard types and prefer people who present themselves as, well themselves.

Your car analogy sucks, because if you don't show the car properly (including damage) and people turn up and see it they get annoyed and it will devalue it to them on the spot (even if your price is good for its condition)

The point of them deal breakers is to stop the kind of people who you don't want contacting you from contacting you and while it isn't full proof because it is left up to the other person to read into it the way they want it will cut out plenty of them, do you want someone who smokes weed to get in touch if you don't like people who do that?

The problem is his profile presents itself as try-hard, just in the wrong areas. I think a solid profile is pretty short by comparison, just a few lines about yourself and what you're about, enough to hook interest, let them vet you via chat or a date...

My car analogy is awesome because it gets them to the car. The idea being that once they've driven the car for a little bit, the dents aren't that big of deal anymore because it runs and drives like a dream. Your approach would have them looking for another car before even driving yours, which is stupid. Getting the matches is the biggest hurdle men complain about on here, why fuck yourself over when the system is already trying to?

How is it dumb or try hard to try and weed out the ones you don't want?

How does it create disappointment? How does this play out in your head?

Have you never met up with a women who has gone full on try hard (over elaborate poses that don't show her self properly or with shitty filters etc and when you meet them you find yourself face to face with someone that looks nothing like the pics? its a disappointment and turns me off (I've just left before)

People when viewing pictures will put a mental image of how they act onto them and if your pictures say one thing and then in reality you're not like that it will cause the disappointment (Have a load of fun looking action shots but aren't really fun and active??? Have a cute dog you borrowed from a friend?? these things happen people try and lie about themselves all the time and it just creates more and more disappointment not only for the people who meet them but for the person doing it as they have failed date after date.

As I'm too late for that household chores, I'm gonna post it here.

In a lot of cases it isn't about different levels of cleanness, but about managing the household overall. There are lots of arguments not about "how clean things should be", but about keeping the place and family functioning.

One should do their part of the work without being nagged about it. If you're an adult, you should get that dirty dishes need to be washed, dirty floor needs to be cleaned etc. But this conflict goes far further than just keeping the track of groceries, cleaning windows etc. It's also about not forgetting about important dates (whether they're birthdays, doctors' appointments, kids' school events), doing necessary preparations for them (whether it's cleaning your house before a kids party, buying some sport inventory for them etc), remembering your spouse and kids' dietary restrictions/allergies etc.

It's something that a lot of men here in Russia are very bad at. They just don't know or don't want to know how much energy and time managing the household and family takes. So most widowers/men who get left out with kids (it barely happens though) actively seek "a new mommy". A new mommy who'd take care of the kids as if she was their mother. And of the household. And of the family overall including the guy himself.

To be fair, there are some female equivalents of these men. They usually end up with men who go far and beyond to please their princesses. I guess they like the feeling of being needed and they put all responsibilities on their shoulders. But I doubt these families stay together for long. These men either get exhausted and suddenly see who the hell they work themselves to death or they really work themselves to death and these totally unadapted women end up leeching off their kids/other relatives/looking for a new guy.

I've just read through that thread and its mostly arguments about the subjectiveness of cleaning.

So how often should these things be done? Once a day, week, month?

Even the women in that thread have different standards of these things and yet non of them can seem to understand this.

See this is something I've said before on here but use technology ffs, no one should ever forget that stuff as nearly everyone has a smart phone and as such has access to something like google calendar, that's what I do, a shared calendar can be used to organize a families dates of importance (and yet people don't seem to do this)

It's pretty much it - clean, shop and remember family dates. I'd just change "dates" with "needs". It's remembering your spouse and kids' dietary restrictions, buying and cooking food according to them, planning and preparing for family trips, keeping the household running by fixing and cleaning things, buying groceries (and the ones that are indeed needed and not just some random ones), taking vacations in a way that would work for both you and your partner, picking kids up, taking them to classes, knowing what school they go, what problems they have (at least the ones they're willing to talk to you about), remembering and paying bills, buying gifts in time, planning and preparing for family celebrations/party or dinner evenings, taking care of pets you have etc.

It's nothing big when you look at it thing by thing, but if you sum it up, it's about being an adult, partner and parent and not just someone who also lives in this house.

I've got ex's and friends who have their family in their lives and they just cause drama and headaches and I look at them and think "wtf are you doing having these people in your lives".

I still think it comes down to how these things are organised and because its poorly done it causes friction.

How do you decide what you 2 are going to eat this week? I have a "menu" like spreadsheet that has all the dishes we enjoy and the ingredients needed to make them other items to shop for (cleaning supplies etc) are added to a shopping list via Alexa that then appears on my phone, this is the organisation I just don't see other people doing and they seem to just go shopping with some rough idea of what they need.

Kids side of things, depends on how old they are and what the work situation is, most people I know the man works FT and the women either doesn't work or works PT, so then it should drop to her to sort these things.

No, you didn't get it. What's the point of staying with someone who doesn't care about their own family. By family here I mean them, you, your pets/kids, not necessarily their or your parents, sisters, cousins etc.

I think this kind of stuff is partially related to the working hours. From one hand, the one who does all of these has less time/energy for studying or their career, from the other hand, the one who works more doesn't have much time for organizing the house. They key is to communicate clearly and organize things well. But these won't help if your parent just doesn't care.

Personally we don't have much issues with it. My husband has higher level of acceptable cleanness and I'm better at long-term planning/organization, so in the end we divide things pretty evenly. And we don't have kids, so managing the house is pretty easy.

I mostly see complains about it from working women. Women who are SAHMs have it a bit easier as they can dedicate all their time to the household, although I find it rather depressing.

Sorry seems to be some wires crossed. You said they don't care in one post (that I presumed was about chores) then you spoke about caring about family (and I thought that was extended family as you had spoken about extended family)

So you can care about your own family and not care about how often a floor is swept or the bathroom is cleaned and it be good enough (but not up to your partners standards) doesn't mean they don't care about you.

Most of the arguments seem to be about standards, imagine your partner only cared about the bathroom being cleaned once a fortnight but you wanted it cleaned every week, if you force your partner to clean it every week they will feel they are performing a pointless task (irrelevant if you feel its needed) and so cause friction in the relationship.

This leads to a point were a women will clean to her standards and moan how her man doesn't seem to realize the floor needs cleaning (or whatever) but that's because the man looks at the floor and thinks "that's fine"

Working hours will play a role in it as men on average work more hours but it can depend on other things, money is one, if the household money is shared and he earns more then shouldn't the women do more in the house?

There's a lot of nuance behind this and I think people don't realize what an actual balance looks like they just feel likes its unbalanced.

I don't think that money is a good base for chores division. If she's a nurse and works shifts and he's a manager and has less working hours, it makes sense for him to do more around the house.

Maybe its different in Russia but here nurses still work normal amount of hours over a period compared to any other normal job so she wouldn't be working more hours. I guess it might be a cultural difference. I know enough stories likes this, but to be fair they're mostly about older generations. A lot of my mother and grandmother's male peer were really...uncaring to say the least. Although even now I see here and there stories about "oh, I completely forgot that you have allergy to ___".

A more common example is just forgetting to cook/order a take out when you know that your spouse will be later than you and they'll be hungry and tired.

The issues isn't that it's hard, but that it should be divided and done by both partners. If one always does this job for both of them, it gets quite draining and raises resentment. Plus, if it's that easy, what is even the excuse for not doing it? Just not caring about your household and/or close ones, I guess.

In Russia legally nurses don't have to work more than office workers. But almost all nurses work far more as they take several shifts and some often spend a whole day in the hospital.

And how is it equal if she works more hours and is expected to do more chores although she has less free time? It can be gender reversed as well. I think if there is a bit difference in income, one of the solutions is just to outsource it and hire someone to come and clean. At least that's what I'd do if I had higher income. I'd prefer to give my partner time to rest and maybe to work on changing their fields/on their career so they'd be able not to work so much in the future and not just make them do more around the house when they already have less free hours a day.

I guess it's cultural then. Here I've seen a bunch of stories "I've bought flowers for you, oh, what's wrong with your face? You look kinda puffed".

Sitting around was fairly common among older generations. It isn't that rare even now to sit and wait your partner to cook for you, although you've had enough time to do it yourself. And some men won't even heat the already prepared food. The story "I served him food, but forgot to give him a spoon, so he just sat there and didn't eat" wasn't that rare among my mother and grandmother's peers as well. There are enough men, mostly older or younger ones who haven't lived alone, who can't cook at all.

Well, really different income levels do make things a bit more complicated. It's easier when you both have similar income.

Once again, it isn't just about cleanness, but about organizing and managing as well.

It's remembering your spouse and kids' dietary restrictions, buying and cooking food according to them, planning and preparing for family trips, keeping the household running by fixing and cleaning things, buying groceries (and the ones that are indeed needed and not just some random ones), taking vacations in a way that would work for both you and your partner, picking kids up, taking them to classes, knowing what school they go, what problems they have (at least the ones they're willing to talk to you about), remembering and paying bills, buying gifts in time, planning and preparing for family celebrations/party or dinner evenings, taking care of pets you have etc.

It's nothing big when you look at it thing by thing, but if you sum it up, it's about being an adult, partner and parent and not just someone who also lives in this house.

Running a house was hard before the Internet and modern appliances but it's stupidly easy now. This is why men and women can live alone so easily. Men don't need women to look after the house and women don't need men to provide for them. This is entirely because of technology.

I lived on my own or with a housemate for 9 years. It was never remotely difficult to do anything. I never remotely struggled with cleaning until my wife filled our house with clutter but we have an agreement that I do the kitchen and bathrooms and she does the living room and bathrooms.

Then look for logical 'red flags'. They're the easiest to spot and you don't need knowledge of the subject.

Look for cherry picking/narrative pushing. No one tries to hide the truth, so if they are, they are telling you they don't believe in their own narrative.

Look for incomplete information, and/or exaggeration.

Look for emotional manipulation.

Intentionally find reports/experts on both sides of the same issue and compare.

Look for 'duplicate' information, where things are near identical from multiple sources, most likely they are just copy/pasting from a singular source, look for that.

Double check supposed credentials.

Read referenced studies, even if you don't know the details, once you've read a few you can get a general idea if they are decent or complete nonsense.

Do some basic napkin math to get round-about figures, even if not exact/precise it still gets you a 'ball park' figure with which to work with.

Even just doing the basics will clear things up 99% of the time. But most of all, don't think with your emotions. Every salesman, politician, and news station, knows the easiest way to convince people of anything, is to drive them emotionally. When people are emotionally invested (any emotion) they stop thinking logically, and are easy to sway.

Q4ALL: I just gave an advice to a young man I know. He is confused about his GF and he don´t know what is going on and how to fix it.

-He is depressed, diagnosed. She is not. She is not supportive.

I’ll expand on the ones I listed. A lot of people just turn up less attractive, but similar to their pictures. Half the time I expect a +6/10 and get a 5/10. That sort of thing.

Went on a date with this guy who seemed to be my type based on his profile. It said he was a project manager, and men who work in tech are sexy to me. When I met him, seemed at least 20 IQ points lower than what I’m used to being around. He had never had ramen in his lifetime, even though we live in a urban place. I asked him about his job and he said he was “kind of” a project manager in that he helps work on “things” and just described the roles of a construction worker.

Height has happened multiple times. The last time I remember, the guy put that he was 6 feet tall in his profile and when I see him outside of the restaurant, he seemed smaller. I got up close and he was 5’8 at most. One of his first comments was, “I didn’t realize you’d be wearing heels.” I have no problem with that height but the distribution of his body I guess made him look more petite and his face also wasn’t as nice.

Alright, Hegel was never a major focus for me, so I'm thinking of a quote from a secondary thinker that may be off-base. He's one of those "I'll get around to it thinkers" which I really ought to get around to, considering how foundational Stirner is to my thought.

As for Liberalism, it's not as pronounced, but there is definitely an undercurrent of that same thought that history is progressing towards some final realization of a just, rational, free society (see: Whig history), which pervades all enlightenment thought. In this, I'd say Hegel is a crystalization of this sentiment, with communism and fascism (I omit socialism because it's such an immensely broad label that includes everything from Communists to Social Democrats to Trade Unionists, some of which may not fall into this trend of thought) carrying on from this point.
