I honestly have no idea. Maybe it depends on where you live and the demographics of that area.

I grew up in poverty everyone was getting married and starting families in highscool. They're now on their 2nd or 3rd marriages.

Where I live now most men and women that I meet want to get married and have children. In my social circle, the complaint is that they can't find compatible or reliable partners. Either everyone is too busy and ghosts, or they're inconsistent due to life obligations, depression, and anxiety. But both men and women are actively dating to find a long term partner.

Online I see more women claiming to be happy and content while single. But the women who do complain about being single are complaining about the lack of quality men. I see more men complaining on not having the option to be in a relationship or have sex.

To me there is a difference between opting to stay single because you don't like your options, vs being single because there are no options.

Pretty much every guy I have ever met in my life was willing to commit and has committed when they find a woman they really like. However, all of these guys have been willing to also engage in short term sexual relationships or non-committed relationships with women whom they would never consider for a long term relationship. I fell into this type of behavior for a few years after I got out of a LTR. I'd keep things casual with a woman who I was not interested in a LTR with. No commitments and the relationship would end when they pressed me for a commitment. I realized that it was unfair to the woman (even though we never talked about a commitment at the onset of starting a sexual relationship) and I was being unfair to myself as well because I ultimately wanted a long term relationship and these uncommitted relationships were getting in the way.

Men will sleep with a much higher % of women than the % of women they would consider a relationship with. With people meeting through online dating apps it is really easy for certain men to connect with lots and lots of women. With the trend in relationships to keep things casual for longer time periods you have women who think they are working towards a relationship and men who have an expiration date on the time they are spending with that woman.

Women are much pickier in whom they will consider to date. There just aren't enough guys whom women desire a relationship with to go around.. It doesn't make either of the sexes evil or wrong. It is just the present reality which is magnified by dating apps, mobile technology, and the trend towards not defining relationships for longer and longer time periods. I have a feeling that as a society we will eventually figure it out and course correct. But it is going to take awhile.

Eh I've seen a few women struggle but the reality is a lot of them have a lot of other issues that will put guys off. A super high or super low libido, a lifestyle thats niche and different from others around them, a social life thats oriented around work or school with few actual friends. All these are absurdly common and every extra qualifier screens a lot of people out.

I remember back when I was on PPD discord we once did a quiz on how many people in your city would be an ideal partner for you. Most of the guys were getting hundreds to thousands as their number. Most of the girls were in the single digits out of an entire cities population. I actually think it depends on the age range we are speaking of. In the 20s and and 30s bracket I agree that women tend to be more commitment oriented generally. BUT I think there are more commitment oriented men out there I just think they are not what modern women are looking for in commitment. Many modern women seek equal partners men who will support their careers and raise children as equals, that is hard to find. As you move into the 40s men are the ones seeking commitment and children more heavily and usually are seeking it with women in their late 20s and early 30s who don’t want commitment with men they view as old.

Actually, I think many women remain single because on a primal level there's a larger inherent risk for us. Sex comes with the risk of pregnancy and committing to someone comes with the risk of needing to rely on them should we carry their child (and all of the sacrifices that come with that). Women don’t necessarily genuinely desire commitment, they desire what they think commitment is. Many women desire it out of wanting to fit in with peers or ideas of femininity, to “belong”.

From a young age women are told over and over that long term commitment is a thing “women love” then enthusiastically chase it until they end up in one and ruin it with their immaturity and terrible conflict resolution.

Has a good career

Is actually single

Theres a lot more but that's enough. Lets be very very generous and say 50 percent of the male population have any of those individually ( they don't especially the physical attributes).

Then you do the same thing with male wants (which are probably somewhat less restricive, because of men's nature) and multiply it by that factor.

Well, most women I've met that prefer to stay single can get their needs met by casually dating around, that's a huge plus women have men don't and I think it's the main reasson why women don't get into relationships (or at least the ones who remain single).

I find it quite surprising indeed that when asked, even some late teen-early 20's girls tell me "relationships are too much work" and they want to focus on their careers or something like that.

Like, just imagine an average guy with a low libido that can hit a hot girl's DM to scratch that itch when he feels like it haha, relationships would be almost non-existant unless guys want kids, and most men would barely interact with average girls.

Well, this is mostly how it goes for most women, they get into a relationship when they find a guy that thick her boxes, if they break up and can't find a replacement they just stay single and sexless (it's not a big deal for them) or have casual flyngs here and there.

For men the problem is our libido I think. I know because I could have tons of casual sex when I was young and once you get rid of that part of the equation you don't really need a traditional relationship with a woman. Actually, it took me a lot of work and effort to really find a reasson to commit to my now fiancee, and I tell you she's an awesome woman, but when you have quite a few options without needing to settle down for just one of them, commitment seems pointless.

Of course there are lots of relationship-oriented guys, but yeah that market has definetly been shrinking for a while now. Lots of guys today want to get into relationships just to get laid, that's real, but since casual sex has become accepted and mainstream some women are going to chose to keep their options open just in case, you know, some hot dude wants sex on Thursday night when there is nothing good on TV.

I mean, even from the male POV you can't blame women neither.

Relationships are work, they consume time and specially resources, and drain a lot of your energy, so think about this meh looking girl who has to chose between a time consuming relationship with an average guy, or having no string attached, quick sex with a good looking guy here and there and then focusing on something else like studying, going out with girls and getting a good job... Which one would you pick? I think it's not a hard choice to make.

This also match my experience, since I was the most productive when I was single. I learned four lenguages, played multiple musical instruments in different bands, traveled around, started my own bussines and had a huge social net, all while casually dating women and having different kinds of sexual relationships with them. When I settled down, well... I haven't done much since them besides getting in better shape (which is always plus, you know, but not super important).

Add kids to the equation and I would be really fucked up when it comes to improving and having a fullfiling life.

I think actually this is why girls tend to do better than guys in school, they are just less focused on sex and relationships (since they don't need to) and they can just live with the bare minimum until they get a degree or something, while guys focus a lot on getting women's attention and stress a lot about having sex, and they also drop out school and start working early on on shitty jobs so they can make some money to... Well, take women on dates.

For women relationships are easier and sex even more, so they don't have to worry that much.

Of course they have their own downside of this, like a lot of women +35 start to panic when there are no men around anymore. They suffer a lot when they see themselves spending the rest of their lives with themselves (specially if their friends start to having kids, that's like a last minute call for them) but this is something that guys don't seem to worry about at all.

For some weird reasson men have this "fear of missing out" when they are young, between 20 something to 40, but once they get old they make peace with their lives, like "well fuck it, I wasn't hot enough back then and I'm not going to be from now on, guess I'm going to live the rest of my life and fuck the world" haha.

For older women the idea of dying alone without a loving partner is just much hard to accept it seems. The old single men I know are kicking ass though.

I don't know where you live, but, to get your answer, it might be interesting to look at the various institutions surrounding commitment, and how they might impact men.

It really look like things like the option of becoming the main provider while Mrs is taking more time with the children, only to get divorced a few years later because it turns out that working to provide takes a toll, and having all you worked to provide taken from you, your children bared from seeing you, and still having to keep working just as hard to keep paying doesn't seem like such an attractive perspective to many men.

Also 30% of the male component of the male-female dating market is completely out of it (we're not talking online dating either - they're just not pursuing women altogether... we have herbivores!), not by choice.

Once you reach your late 20s as a woman, men are less likely to pursue you. You have baggage, everyone else had it at a cheaper price, and you're a depreciating asset. Obesity, substance use/abuse, mental illness, and ego are discouraging men with any form of quality.

Educated men who are in shape, don't have a substance abuse problem, and make more than 90k a year are few and far between. This is what women are chasing and guys who are like this didn't put all that work into their minds, body, and reputation to pursue a woman who could either jeopardize that or be of lower value to the man. No amount of shaming from the Anglosphere media is going to change this.

A woman has to bring far more than sex to the table. This is sort of where porn is a double-edged sword for women, it helps produce simps, but men can also easily just take care of things themselves at no risk for FREE.

Young women have to be better because once economic/social conditions shift very soon, we will be in man's market in the dating market like it was after 9/11. Anglosphere women will have to compete with women from all over.

I prefer a casual relationship because...well, what would I get from a committed relationship that would significantly better my life? Without also having a significant cost to go with it?

In my FWB relationship I have sex, a good friend, sometimes travel companion, a conversationalist, and someone to go out to lunch or to the movies with. I take a good, hard, introspective look at my life and honestly don't want for anything that I can't work on attaining myself.

I have never wanted kids. I became seriously disillusioned with marriage by the time I was 15. I have a strong friends circle. Got my degree years ago. Already am debt free and have a good job plus insurance and a growing retirement fund. Heck, I even like that I have a relatively small apartment instead of a house because it's less to keep clean!

I think that a lot of people in my generation are reaching similar conclusions. Life can be really good without following the common script of "2.5 kids, a dog, 2 cars, and house with a white picket fence". I see fewer commitment oriented people, not just men. Men and women alike are looking at what their parents had and either don't want it, or don't think the juice is worth the squeeze.

And many are likely not voicing their decision/opinion to avoid being called immature, juvenile, failure to launch, and "Peter Pans". Or let's not forget the popular "you'll change your mind someday" spouted by nosy strangers. Better to generally keep quiet about it.

There are very few urban American women primarily interested in relationships, based on my experience on apps. I get a good number of matches and I experiment:

Body (thirst trap) pic, joke bio which says nothing about me - tons of conversations, but the conversation will die almost immediately if you don't act horny.

For myself and the last person I was with, I told her directly I was looking for commitment and a long term relationship. She said that she was as well.

The relationship didn't work out, but she admitted to me later on she feared being in a relationship. Granted, she had her reasons, but that mindset was solely one-sided.

It could be that there's numerous women who are dating that are in a similar position, and fear being in a committed relationship.

I would agree. I stayed true to myself and waited for my dream husband though so my perspective may be biased to the inclination of marriage. We both wanted to settle down and raise a family. Sadly half thats been scratched with financial realities but we stay together because we are both commitment oriented.

& If an unmarried man doesn't have to stay and can get it anywhere without the extra stress of working towards a united goal, 8/10 he will and he'll probably leave you and the family to do so. If many women are single, that could be solved by men being more relationship-orientated, rather than casual.

It's not just that. It's also focusing more on school to get a career. There's no coincidence that the martial and maternity correlates with graduating college and solidifying a job.

That's why there's a huge drop in sexlessness amongst men in the average martial ages.

I fail to understand the point of this baseless generalization. This could well be true in the circles you belong to, but why does it matter at all if it's not true for your country or for the world? I don't even think you want your view changed, you just want to waive this as some sort of sense of superiority over women (I assume you are a man). The truth is, based on real data, is that married men live longer, and married women live shorter, so it's really the men who benefit most, and now that women are not economically forced into marriage, the men are starting to panic and spread silly rumors such as your post here.

I don't think this is true, most men do want relationships but these men tend to be of lower value. Just at how many men use websites like epal.gg or subscribe to specific girls on onlyfans. It because they want a romantic connection with these women. If women really want relationships they need to stoop going after the top 20% of men.

Yes, I’m in my early 20’s and me and all my female friends are mainly looking for a committed relationship as the main goal. The problem is a lot of men our age aren’t looking for a girlfriend so we have to settle for casual dating. Maybe this is a generalisation but I feel like women know we can get laid whenever we want, so casual sex is not as rewarding as it is for men. Guys get more of a dopamine hit from a sense of achieving a goal than women get from casual sex.

Most men complaining about not getting dates are really just complaining that they cant get laid - no I think most men just can't get actual dates at all (even if they really just want sex).

I do agree with you generally though - more women than men want a relationship.
