Just something I have been curious about lately. With almost every woman I have met or talked to, they have disclosed to me they hook-up because:

  • The guy was hot, wasn't relationship material, and she wanted to have sex with him.
  • They decided to have FWB or an F-buddy because relationships are stressful and FWB or F-buddies were convenient, less pressure and sexually pleasing.
  • They tried doing one night stands, but it didn't work out, because they didn't get the sexual pleasure they need, which is why they would hook-up with a consistent FWB-type relationship.

I was talking to a female friend recently, and she told me about all the FWB relationships she had and how hard it is to find someone for relationships and marriage. She broke down crying and told me she wanted to feel valued and that when she had flings, she didn't get the value she wanted out of it.

What was ironic about what she told me is that she also used men for sex and wanted to have sex with them, so I am not sure how/why she felt undervalued and used when she wanted sex with those men.

Also, from a hook-up culture perspective, it benefits men. Men get to have their sexual variety by hooking up with women. Women, on the other hand (typically speaking), don't care about variety. When women hook-up, they usually want a man who is good in bed and if that man is good in bed, they will keep him around and are good with just having sex with him.

Keeping that notion above, if women are good with having sex with one man, especially with one man who knows how to throw it down, why not wait until you're in a committed relationship or married?

If the hook-up culture is making women feel used and undervalued, why participate in it in the first place? Why have casual sex?
