Yet, in our work using Add Health, we found evidence that by ages 25-32, Asian American men continue to be excluded from romantic relationship markets....these Asian American men are less likely than White, Black, and Hispanic men to be in a romantic and/or sexual relationship. However, looking at the disparity in dating numbers between men and women there it's obvious the same rule applies as it does in the west. A small minority of men monopolize ALL the women. It will get worse. I think society will get worse and worse until we realize that the reason the founding fathers barred women entry into the workplace is because women ultimately jettison reproductive cooperation when survival is achievable by means other than a man.

I’m not here to have a moral debate about how right or wrong allowing women to work is - there is a strong argument for both sides. I have lived in Japan multiple times.

The number of attractive, available young men is crazy. As a foreign woman if you're willing to put in the effort to learn the language/culture and are attracted to Asian men you can get dates pretty easily. I don't consider myself especially attractive but I get approached pretty often there, more than in the U.S. And I don't mind because the men are generally pretty good at picking up on your social cues/comfort level.

It's really quite simple. The only reason average men throughout human history ever got laid at all was because:

a) Women were financially dependent on them. Marriage was just a long term prostitution contract. Above a certain subsistence level, woman don't exchange sex for resources.

b) Desirable men were married off. Now desirable men can serial or in parallel can have sex with the entire pool of women.

Most women are either sharing the same man (unwittingly) or waiting for a turn and opting out of sex all-together in the interim.

Obviously it's anecdotal but I used to live in Japan and all the guys I knew were dating around. And actually all my Japanese friends are getting married sooner than my American friends.

There are a lot of guys who are too busy with school and work to date (cram school & entrance exams are killer), but I feel like I didn't actually see as much of a inc*l epidemic over there as I do here. And I'm someone who spent A LOT of time in Akihabara.

I’ve been living in Japan for 1 year. I think the problems are mostly cultural and economical.

Building friendships is difficult here, even in places where one might expect it. For example, in my laboratory at university there is no group cohesion. Most people don’t talk each other except when necessary. So if you like a girl of the lab, approaching her may be difficult. This applies to every type of environment.

Then most women here expect you to be somewhat wealthy since they expect marriage and kids. I get the feeling most women here see sex as a transaction, rather than a pleasurable experience for herself.

As consequence, relationships are commodified. The result is rampant prostitution and services (such as girls bars, where you just talk to women), and gold diggers.

If you are a foreigners the same applies. If you are wealthy, and come from a developed country, finding a Japanese gf is not so hard.

I think the US and Japan has different type of gender wars. Where as in the US it's more about getting more equality and fairness, in Japan it's more about traditions vs modernism.

Women here are generally more traditional than in the US. Meaning that they tend to want to keep the traditional gender roles and behaviors. And specifically with behaviors, they tend to be more feminine/submissive in a traditional way than in the US (not saying it's a good thing or a bad thing). And those type of women tend to want to have a much higher differential in gender roles an behaviors. That means they want more masculine and dominant men, rather than in the US (where as women in the US are more fine with less masculine/dominant men).

And since the modernism implies that anyone can be masculine/feminine (dominant/submissive), there's more rise in men becoming submissive. And since it's counterproductive for them to be successful in relationships, they become hikikomori.

Also, there're no such incel hating groups of men hating on women here. They just don't engage with them. In a sense, they are the true essence of MGTOW, rather than this fake bs of men complaining about women and trying to get attention. True MGTOW guys don't even complain about it and are invisible. They just die out in silence.

Men are expected to earn more then women which in Japan working yourself to death. Few men are willing to do this. Better to be a bit poor but alive then none virgin and dead. So rather then try you give up.

For women I think they don’t want to be house wife’s. And if they do they want a high earning man which does no longer exist.

We will have a similar trend in the west and I think we are already seeing it. Men are not economically attractive to women and at the same time women want a man who is willing to take up more household work. However that’s bad for men’s careers as it is for women so then in the end the only ones that can make it work are households who can afford a cleaning lady which is high income households.

It’s a different culture with a different history. It’s got problems with being sexist and traditional: meaning guys work an awful lot, women don’t get paid as much, and therefore there’s still a sort of trad con understanding of what a relationship entails.

From what I gather, they’re an extremely overworked society already under a lot of pressure to “live up to” a certain perceived status.

I think rightly a lot of guys are not into marriage, which will just cost more. They never had a sexual revolution, so I don’t think “casual dating” is as much of a thing, although it’s not a culture I’m familiar with tbh.

25% of women the same age have also not been on a date either. It could be that not wanting to marry means women aren’t interested in you.

A lot of them aren’t looking either.
