funny story time.

a work colleague went to a military college, but the part that is more focused on technical/technological areas (similar to computer science, but for the military). Once finished, he didn't actually do any active military work and went into "standard" (civil) jobs.

when he was in college, he had to also do various assignments around campus, like sometimes helping in the kitchen, cleaning etc. This was standard for all military students. Once he was out in the campus park cleaning out leaves in the autumn and a mother and a small child passed him and the mother told the child "look, if you don't do well at school you will end up like him". It was funny considering he was a student at a top school in the country and knew his job prospects after finishing college and he bit his tongue to give any snarky reply.

The main issue with the phrase "toxic masculinity" is essentially a marketing problem. The messaging really should be "here are expectations placed on you as a man that a lot of you struggle with and here's how feminism can help", but instead you've lost men straight out of the gate by calling it something as accusatory as "toxic masculinity". It immediately makes it confrontational rather than inviting a conversation about gender norms/roles and how they can negatively impact people.

Also if women could stop labelling everything that a man does that they happen to not like as "toxic masculinity" (e.g. being loud in bar or something else trivial), it would go a long way. At the moment too many people just use it as a means to produce a laundry list of very minor things men do that women don't like.

Edit - also key to add that it's not just me who encourage toxic masculinity, a lot of women do too and this isn't talked about enough in feminist circles frankly.

i started premature graying in my early 20's. now a solid 30% of my hairs on the side are gray. Totally noticeable.

i shave my head for this reason but noticed many people who shave their head are balding. I am not balding just insecure of grays.

Would an attractive hairstyle but noticable grays on a relatively young guy be more unnattractive than the bald look?

i'm also not really that buff so the bald might not work for me its mostly just trying to hide the grays.

i know hair dye is an option too. Just never did it.

Thoughts on /r/leftwingmaleadvocates? I kinda like what im reading there, but I think the name might be holding them back. “left wing” implies a socialist/communist lens, and despite some general discussion on how the economy factors into male issues, theres not a huge focus on politics when its not directly relevant. The whole sub just leans liberal. Mind that Ive only read a few posts, so it could be a larger factor than I realize.

Its not perfect, but it seems leagues better than any /r/MensRights or /r/MensLib.

Honestly the problem men have isn’t with waiting to know a woman before getting physically intimate.

The problem is that women tend to be very fickle and could change their minds at a moment’s notice and for the most arbitrary reason. You need to hook up or sleep with them ASAP so that they are attached or invested in some way. You run the risk of her losing interest if you wait or disqualifying you if you don’t. We won’t even get into the beta bux and attraction discussion.
