I’m a black man in the US. I’ve noticed this the most with young white couples.(Gen Z). It’s the norm to see mediocre looking young white women with these super tall, gq model looking white dudes.

Edit: I don’t mean these guys are literally gq models. I’m saying they’re clearly more attractive than the women they’re with.

Form my experience Gen z couples are either looksmatched or the guy is more attractive.It's very rare that the girl will be more attractive.We've gone over this many times already but yeah,women date up.Why do you think the whole manosphere content has become so popular? Men are very competitive when it comes to female attention lol and there's no real brotherhood for supporting each other. If only the statistical outliers on the low side of the sex frequency scale had increased(aka incels) but the status quo for the rest of the guys had remained the same like it was pre social media booming, then PUA gurus and Andrew Tate wouldn't draw so much traffic.The average guy struggles in dating and has to lower his standards. It's not as extreme as black pillers claim it to be tho.

One that I know of irl with a huge difference. The guy is fit, tall and has a good sense of style. The woman is obese and apple shaped with kind of a cartoon witch looking face and a skin condition. They’re super religious if that matters.

I see a lot more slightly mismatched couples. Ugly women with mediocre guys. Like Lena Dunham (no offense) and her husband for example but as normies at the grocery store.

Very tall. Amazing physique. Very cute face and gorgeous smile.

The obesity epidemic explains some of it. I often see very plain looking slender women with tall, reasonably well built, good looking men.

In today’s SMP, a plain looking woman genetically prone to being slender can easily snag a man of higher SMV than herself, owing to the relative scarcity of low-BMI women. Even with her plain face, her scarcity makes her an HB7 nowadays.

I see a lot of average guys with fat women and average women with attractive men. In the couples I know personally a majority of the women got fat after marriage while the guys continue to work out.

Edit-I think the ugly guy with a hot wife trope is mostly a thing of the past. It might have been true in my parent's generation, but it seems to have reversed itself in the past couple of decades.

I remember one time a middle-aged man came into the restaurant I was working at and he was quite attractive so much so I was going to compliment him (I'm a dude). His partner was average looking. Maybe he met her when she was more attractive but I doubt it. It clearly doesn't happen quite a bit because the one recollection I have of this scenario is still embedded in my memory.

I rarely see an obese man with a fit woman. But I ALWAYS see fit men with obese women. My cousin was also a wedding photographer for a few years and one night we looked at all the couples that he photographed to do our own "study" of looks matching.

There were about 300 or so couples that we looked at. Most were relatively looks matched. But women clearly shoot for higher and are able to attain it with far more ease. The hotter women were always with greek god looking men. The "uglier" women were mostly with average normal looking men (only a couple or so were with "ugly" men). And the normal looking women were mostly with guys a bit above their league (ex: a lot of 4-5's were with 6-7 level men).

The overweight ones were interesting. Of all the overweight guys, only one was with a girl that was normal weight, but she was also not great looking in the face. The rest were with overweight women. But with the overweight women, more than half were with fit/normal weighted men. Several were with men that were quite handsome.

I've seen quite a few dudes with less attractive women and both were physically fit. This was more noticeable in places like San Francisco where it seemed like most men were dating down. That said, I'd argue that most couples tend to be looksmatched in most parts of the country.

The only time I see a significantly more attractive woman with a less attractive man is when he gained weight and she didn't. That's really it. Honestly, most of the guys are usually looksmatched to their partner as soon as they get their physical fitness back. It's always clear that they gained the weight after being with their partner for a while.

The issue that I find is that most women don't want to settle for their longterm looksmatch until the very last second. Which is what is creating the overwhelming amount of young single men who are deeply frustrated.

Define significantly, because to me that is being like 3+ higher on the lookscale, I see more couple were the man is more attractive but it never exceeds 2 points. The only time I have seen the reverse is when they are a religious couple(mennonite or muslims) aside from that if there is a gap in looks it is better looking man, although it could be that people(including myself) are using what follows their biases.

Most people I see tend to be looks matched. Hell I’d say I even know a few couples where the guy is a good bit uglier than than the woman. The reverse is true as well, but these are both exceptions where I live. For hook ups, sure, the men tend to be noticeably more attractive than the women but for dating, it’s rare in my experience

Generally speaking most couples are looks matched. There is the stereotype of the unattractive guy with the attractive trophy wife but this is only really evident when you move up into the upper echelons of society and men actually have the money and status to attract these type of woman. This definitely exists but is not the world most people mix in.

For the most part average people are generally in relationships with people of similar attractiveness levels as relationships generally don’t develop into actual relationships if there is too much of an imbalance with anything-not just looks.

The only time you generally see a signifiant difference between a couple’s attractiveness levels is when they have been together for a long time, moved passed sex defining their relationship and one has aged significantly worse than the other.

Average men and woman age just as badly as each other-which means terribly. Men bald. Woman sag. Both get fat. The only common instance when a man seems to end up significantly more attractive than his relationship partner is when both started off as very attractive in the first place. I.E way above average looking. The notion that men age better than woman in general is a fallacy. However the notion that attractive men age better than attractive woman isn’t. If a man is super attractive in his twenties- and is able to stay in shape and keep his hair- he’s still going to be super attractive in his mid 40’s. If his girlfriend is equally attractive in her 20’s, also stays in shape, she is still going to be seen as significantly less attractive than he is once they are both in their mid 40’s. This is just the nature of how most people compare male and female beauty. However these a rare examples. Not because we are taking about the none average here but also because it’s rare for a super attractive guy to stay with his physically declining partner( even if she is still objectively attractive) when he can easily trade her in for a younger model. Hence another relationship cliche.

Of course it’s important to note we are taking about looks discrepancies being very rare in actual relationships. When it comes to casual hooks ups it suddenly becomes very common as men are significantly less discerning than woman with who they sleep with.

But she had a 10/10 personality so I see why he went with her. And he probably had more leverage in the relationship as a tall conventionally attractive white guy.

I see this quite a bit at the gym and with zoomer couples in general. Skinny men with obese women is a pretty common thing to see at grocery stores too.

I'm pretty sure most of the single zoomer men are just fat/obese. It feels so rare to see an obese young man out with his girlfriend, or any woman really.

Most relationships I've noticed people look about the same with the guy having a slight edge. So, I'd say guys more frequently are the better looking partner. For big disparities though, I'd say women are probably the more attractive ones. Those ugly guys are always providing something else though. I've seen ugly women provide nothing, and still get locked up. I've seen guys who get in relationships young, and then improve their status quite a bit, but they stick around with their wife. On the other, women will always leave when they glow up in a relationship.

Bay Area, particularly as you get closer to the Man Jose end. Single women transfer from the SF office to mine in DC all the time, and over the years, I've watched a few of them grow progressively saltier as they realized that out here on the East Coast, simply being a cis het woman wasn't going to land them a ripped physician. Relearning femininity in your mid-30s is tough when you haven't had to practice it in a decade.

All dating really is, is about matching people based on the smorgasbord of things they bring to the table.

If dating in 2023 means that a less physically attractive woman can go out, get a Master’s Degree. work for a Fortune 500 company, make 500k a year and snag a dude making 30k at the warehouse but who looks like a Michelangelo statue, that’s probably the best thing for everyone because it gives more people more options and more ways to be successful.

Obviously all of that is an exaggeration but the general point still holds.

On occasion but not often but attraction is a personal thing really so what they find attractive and what you do are completely different things. A few of super fit guys like their body opposite in women so certainly see this in the gym I work . Vast majority of couples are matching on looks levels however that I see in public as pretty much most people are regular very ordinary looking so very ittle differences to say. Even with age they match each other

The scenario where I see this happening is where the guy is a 6- and is settling as there’s a bottleneck to date any better. I very rarely see a 7+ guy meaning someone with options that decides to be with a less attractive woman (in a serious relationship) of course in clubs sometimes you see some that just want a quick fuck with whoever is available. I know some cases where they were equal and she got worse over time and they are still together, but the guys cheat at any opportunity

So since a lot of people are saying Gen Z couples have the man as the more attractive partner, does that support the narrative about the 80/20 rule, female entitlement, blackpill, etc? I think for whatever reason a lot of people are just very bad at appraising looks and let things like clothing or fashion sense cloud their judgment. It's conventional to say the woman is more attractive in a relationship when really she just puts more effort into her appearance and the guy clearly has better facial structure, athleticism, and such but just doesn't give a shit.

I mainly see mismatched couples with a more attractive guy when they're zoomers or millennials and its interracial.

The two most common scenarios are a

• mediocre looking blonde woman (doesn't have to be real blonde) with a dark haired tan man. Often these men are mediterranean, latin american, middle eastern or mixed race and they have a blinding fetish for blondes to the point that they have zero standards beyond her having yellow hair even if the hair is damaged.

• couples of below average east asian women with model level zoomer or millennial white guy (often blonde/blue eyes) who finds any asian woman beautiful but has high standards for the other races. There's also the reverse but it's usually old rich white men in their 60s who are sexpats in southeast asia and get with local impoverished women.

mediterranean, middle eastern, south asian, dark haired white women will be judged quite harshly for their objective aesthetics because they don't tend to get fetishised. They need to be practically perfect to be considered on the level of blondes and east asians, and still get passed up for them. Usually they're in mismatched couples with guys who are less attractive than them. I've actually never seen a mediterranean woman coupled with a guy who is equal to or more attractive than her.
