Say it’s Friday night and you have 10 open invites to do shit with 10 different people but none of it seems that appealing to you, so you decline and stay in. Compare that to its Friday night and you really wanna go out but there’s nobody around.

When nobody’s around you’ll wanna go out not just because you want to do the activity, but because you’re kinda worried about not having friends. Maybe having nothing to do on Friday is making you feel like a loser, and you question if you’ll ever have friends to go out with again.

In the first scenario, it’s easy to decline and hold off until something seems really appealing. In the second, you’ll take what you can get. I think this is how sex is for women. Since it’s always available, the lack of it doesn’t get to them the same way.

It can be traced back to the "sperm is cheap, eggs are expensive" narrative. Also r- and K-selection theory applies.

From a primitive biological standpoint, nature is telling men to go out there and spread their seed as much as possible. If they can't do that, their biological role is unfulfilled, which leads to discontentment.

For women, it's in their nature to be picky and to pick the best candidate, as they have the burden of bearing and taking care of the kid. Picking the right mating partner will be more of a concern than getting a partner at all. Given that the amount of suitors (male r-strategists) is relatively high, there is no scarcity.

For women it's more about quality, for men it's more about quantity.

I think this post is a good demonstration of why using Reddit as your basis for reality is not a sound idea.

Most subs are an echo chamber of the same idea being passed around and reinforced over and over and over again. For every sub that promotes one idea there will be another sub that posts ideas that are directly contradictory. At most you're only hearing a couple of hundred people talking about their experiences and ideas, but in a world of over 8 billion that is hardly a representative number for a whole.

Let's do some (very rough) math. This sub has 112k members. There probably aren't as many women as men, but for simplicity I'll just say there are 50k women. If every single one of them said that, they'd still only representative of roughly 0.0125% of women on the planet. In reality, it's not 50k women saying that. It's usually the same ones over and over and over again. Let's be generous and say it's 1000. That now represents 0.00025% of women on the planet.

Reddit is a great place to confirm your preexisting bias, but not such a great place to get an accurate view of how the world really works.

With sex, its almost guranteed for men to be pleasurable. That’s not the same thing with women. Also, differences in sex drive.

What men call bad sex is not the same thing as bad sex for women. Guys will still take “bad” sex over no sex, women wont because bad sex is painful and not pleasurable at all.

First, that post doesn’t look like “nothing but women saying they’re asexual and see sex as disgusting.” I see a few women in that thread explaining why they have not had sex, which is the subject of the thread and so will naturally attract input from people who are less sexually interested or have hang-ups.

The rest of us don’t “call out” those women because they’re allowed to speak about their own experiences. They can be asexual or have religious hang-ups about sex or bad feelings about it caused by various factors. That’s a real experience and not one that needs “calling out.”

Speaking for myself, I’d had multiple extended periods of celibacy in my life where I could not find a partner and it absolutely sucked. I was miserable and very sexually frustrated, and it damaged my self-esteem as well.

Sex is important to me. I desire and enjoy it very much when in a relationship. I fantasize and masturbate often. I don’t enjoy casual sex, as the conditions aren’t conducive to me being able to get aroused or enjoy it, due to some basic differences in tendency between male and female sex drive. But sex, good sex, yes I adore it.

That said, overall women do have a lower sex drive than males and thus will generally be able to tolerate periods of sexlessness better, and even be content with it (or simply make peace with it and move on). But taking this to mean that all or most women are disgusted by sex is a massive overreach.

Well it really isn’t surprising that so many women are straight up disgusted by sex if you look at how our culture treats women who are open about enjoying it. Besides that, getting penetrated simply leads more often to pain and women are less likely to orgasm during heterosexual intercourse.

Also, on average, women are more likely to have experienced sexual assault and can’t enjoy sex as much due to trauma.

I looked at that thread - which was about virginity in women so had female virgins commenting - and didn’t see “literally nothing but women saying they’re asexual and see sex as disgusting”. Majority of comments were not saying that at all, much less all of them saying that. Some women didn’t want meaningless sex, that doesn’t mean they think sex is disgusting.

Most women like sex, particularly with men who they get sexual pleasure from. Most women prefer sex in relationships with love than meaningless sex with strangers.

In the thread you linked, women sometimes love to assert their independence so they felt comfortable admitting they don’t care about sex. But in most instances they will aggressively lie because it’s their nature to keep men sex obsessed, it makes it easier to extract their resources and have an easier life. Being sexless doesn't mean being sexually unsatisfied. For many women who are content with their life, family, friends, hobbies etc - having enough platonic love in your life and the accessibility to masturbate is more than enough. (Which is something I've done consistently since I was 12 so it's not a new things for me or a novelty, just the way I often use to release stress or frustration whether it's sexual or otherwise)

Also, one night stands with men are disappointing IME and I'd rather take the time to get to know someone, knowing that if the sex isn't great in the beginning (which is normal) an emotional connection and knowing that learning each other's body is the key to getting there is enough. Sex can always get better - but the emotional connected likely won't if you never had it in the first place. So I guess I see sex as an addition to a relationship more than I think about as a singular thing I need to feel satisfied in life, because I can take care of that myself with far less time, effort, or risk to my life.

But that is assuming they have enriching lives that include emotional intimacy with those they surround themselves with. Usually, at least for me, sex without an emotional connection can be okay - but if I don't have a romantic partner I'd much rather nurture the platonic relationships I have and get myself off than look for a partner.

IME connections are easier to make and form relationships when it isn't the thing I'm looking for the most. I've met all my partners from happenstance and by having mutual acquaintances, so if it happens it happens, if it doesn't, I'm content to be without a romantic attachment or partnered sex as long as I feel loved and appreciated by the people I spend my time with platonically.

Hello, I believe I'm one of the people with the top comments on that board and I at no point claimed to be asexual or that I saw sex as disgusting. I never said I didn't enjoy sex or desire sex. I didn't say it was sick and twisted or evil.

I said I wanted sex with the one or a man who was quite pivotal. And I got that for the record and I am extremely happy, excited, thrilled, and desirous of sex with this man. I never stated that because it was not in the question asked and I try not to be cruel to people who aren't having sex by talking about how much I love sex with my man.

The fact that my comment was so upvoted (and comments after) suggest a lot of people agreed, probably, a lot of them women seeing as a lot of men on this forum are loathe to give positives towards women.

And, since I'm a investigative wonder, I looked at the next top comment, and it was a woman stating pretty much the same as me. She's looking for a deep emotional connection.

And this was a repeated and common thing said in the less upvoted comments and I scrolled all the way through and read most of the messages that weren't just bickering or hate. Women want sex in a meaningful and committed emotional relationship.

The one after was a woman who described male sexuality as creepy and gross, not sex itself. She said she didn't feel like a tweaker on drugs about it, and had a low libido. I think men play this as women not wanting sex, but she didn't say that. She said how much men seem to want sex, to the point of being like drug addicts, is creepy and gross. Different thing entirely.

The next comment is from a woman who is terrified of men because of the things they write online about psychologically abusing women for anal sex. A bit dramatic, but it doesn't sound to me like she's someone who thinks sex is disgusting, more like she thinks the abusive tendencies of some men's sexuality is digusting.

This was the other common thread. It wasn't finding sex disgusting or uninteresting, it was finding the sexuality of men frightening, depraved, scary, or gross and that making women want to wait to find a man who isn't those things towards them.

I don't know how you read that thread and got the impression that women find sex gross or uninteresting. Quite the opposite, they wanted it, just not with the men they're afraid of or find to be what my generation called pigs or in some cases, abusers.

To be fair, I don’t think sex is disgusting in itself. I think most hetero sex is disgusting because it’s almost always unequal. Males usually have an obsessive compulsive craving for it. Females usually want to have sex as a way to share intimacy. Because these two appetites are often so contrary, it leaves many females feeling used and degraded.

In my mind, if we aren’t sexually compatible, I’d rather not have sex. No, that doesn’t mean I’m going to leave someone because they are lacking in the bedroom. No, sometimes talking it out and communicating doesn’t fix it either. You can’t make someone confident in the bedroom, not even after 7 years of trying. Some people just don’t have that ravenous side to them that I really, really like.

Maybe there is something where men chase the end goal of sex and orgasm more than women, but I'm not sure because there are plenty of high libido women too. We are just used to guys not being able to make us orgasm, so it's not something we expect out of sex.

Women have less testosterone the primary sex hormone so biologically it would seem that they would have to be. Sucks for men. As for sex being evil. If it weren't for men pursuing women for sex, humanity would've died out a long time ago. Men use women for sex, women use men for resources. Predatory men as being villains has long been established. However women using men for resources seems to never get it's due.

They can speak for themselves since that’s what they personally feel and they have a right to. Now for me, I very much enjoy sex. I have a pretty high sex drive as a woman and I could do it all day every day. If you’ve only seen comments from women on this sub, I’d ask you to branch out to other subs because there are so many women like me who have high sex drives and express their desire for sex…though we’re not always public about it since we’d be called “sluts” by the men in this sub. So no, all women don’t hate sex. That is such a blatant misunderstanding.

I don't think women are more content. I know I certainly wasn't when I was celibate. Women are just more culturally conditioned to be quiet and placid. If tons of women are saying sex is disgusting, evil, sick, twisted, etc., it's usually a result of how poor women who choose to have sex in their society and culture are treated.

I'm not seeing all these women in the thread who say they're asexual or see sex as disgusting. Some are saying they're asexual, but most have different reasons. There are women who said they were/are virgins later in life, but none of them expressed disgust towards sex. Their reasons are mostly ''I didn't find anyone'', ''I wasn't ready'' or they were scared of sex (like one person wrote that).

Now, are there women out there who are asexual or are disgusted by sex? Sure. There are also men who are asexual and disgusted by sex. However, most people, men and women, enjoy sex. I do think we're a lot more okay with being sexless though. I myself have had dry spells and while sex would have been nice, it would have been nice in the same way an ice cream on a warm day would have been nice. I'd like to have it, but not having it didn't bother me and I didn't dwell on the lack of ice cream. Judging by the many threads online where guys lament their lack of sex, it seems that the lack of sex is a much bigger deal for men. But I'm guessing that's an issue with those men being lonely in general and that, often, it isn't just about sex.

I do think that men's orgasm is far easier to accomplish than women's, which it implies certain technique than most men don't know or aren't willing to learn. You literally just need to rub their organ off. For a woman you need: clit stimulation, vaginal and labia stimulation, some girls even enjoy nipple stimulation a lot. Some women are more clit main or vaginal main. Some like it deeper, some of them hate it. It depends on your mood, the position inside, etc. You can see how a woman could get frustrated and not enjoy sex if it's not done properly. I can get why some women prefer to masturbate to have sex, they know their bodies very well and can achieve orgasm easily. Some partners are just too frustrating.

Remember, guys: there is nothing wrong with asking someone how they like to be pleasured or consensually experimenting.

Idk but speaking personally, it takes more for a woman to get off than a man. It’s also not uncommon for women not to achieve orgasm their first time with a new partner, and men rarely put in the effort in with women they don’t see a future with. Due to these reasons, not really much point having sex unless I’m in a long term relationship or in the direction of one. The likelihood the sex will be anything short of disappointment, is just far too great. Id rather just be celibate than essentially used as a sex toy lol.

The reality is that the way a lot of men treat women turns a lot of women off sex with men. First of all, a lot of women have been sexually abused by men in some way. It turned me off sex with men for years to the point where I started wondering if I was a lesbian. That's how strong my aversion to men was. As I've matured my sexual attraction to men has become stronger.

And let's be honest - a lot of men are way more concerned with their own sexual pleasure and not women's. You watch porn and it's like 5 minutes of some guy ramming his dick into a woman with little to no foreplay. Boys and young men watch that and think that's how sex is done. That's what the movies show as well.

There is also the fact that a lot of women have a poor body self image. This is an issue I don't see brought up a lot but I feel like it has more of an impact than a lot of people think, at least for me personally. As someone with mild body dysmorphia, it has definitely prevented me from being able to see myself as a "sexual being". A lot of women feel like they need to be perfect because men highly value looks in women. Women's bodies tend to be way more scrutinised than men's. It's a bit hard to enjoy sex when you're constantly worrying in your head whether the guy you're with is judging your naked body in some way.

Honestly if me and my current SO broke up I probably wouldn't bother - sex with strangers or people you barely know is by and large underwhelming at best and just plain shitty at worst for an average woman. I need emotional connection and practice with a partner to enjoy the sex and honestly if I broke up with my current SO I wouldn't be bothered because I think I'd have little interest in long-term relationships again (too much work and I don't mind being single), casual sex is shit, and I have toys that can scratch that itch better than most men. That being said, in my relationship I'm usually the one who initiates...and very much enjoy it.
