To piggyback of my restaurant question from last night, My dad said in his entire childhood they might have eaten out like 3 times. For his tenth birthday they took him to McDonald’s and that was a huge deal at the time. Nowadays kids go to McDonald’s everyday after school. He told me he remembers having to share a can of soda with 2 other brothers and that would be like once or twice a year. Again nowadays kids drink bottles of soda everyday for themselves. That was the 50’s and 60’s though you ate what mom cooked period.

I grew up in the 90’s and early 00’s. Like once a month my parents would take us to dinner. Maybe 2 more times a month we would order food like on a Friday night, usually pizza or Chinese food.

Fast forward to the present day. Me and my GF go out to eat at least once every week usually Friday night dinner. At least 2 other times a week we will order takeout.

Yesterday I asked why some people chose to identify as feminists or not. I personally don't because my background is in law and I see the presumption of innocence as a cornerstone of our civilisation.

So I reject the notion of believing women's accusations until some evidence is found to exonarate the accused (e.g. he was in another continent when the assault was supposed to occur)

I ended up having a lovely conversation yesterday that really started as a shouting match over on r/Healthygamergg (I think it does what PPD wants to do much better tbh because of Dr K)

That made me realise the disconnect between opponents and proponents of a rebuttable presumption of truth of an accusation be it at law, or in practice at school or work or in social groups at large.

Maybe they're aware and maybe they aren't but I like to think that proponents of affirmative consent standards and laws in ascertaining whether one is to be punished realise that they're saying they want to give people the power to ruin lives with all but a word.

Like Amy Dunne in Gone Girl.

We can argue to death about it's current prevalence, but if you make it way easier to get a conviction in these cases then false accusations will increase.

Talking to that one girl yesterday I realised I wouldn't have that much issue with a presumption of guilt or a yes means yes standard if the consequences for an accusation weren't so dire.

If they weren't focused on punishment but rather rehabilitation. Maybe upon an accusation you're not allowed to interact with that person and you have to go to classes designedforemost by psychiatrists but also feminists and other interested parties.

This way the victim is taken seriously based on her word but she doesn't have the ability to ruin a life through it.

The only way to end up on trial is to not go to these classes. Keep the accusation secret so as not to prejudice anyone prior to a conviction at trial. The solution probably needs some workshopping but it's the spirit of it that's in question.

If the artificial womb is cheap and ubiquitus, and all women freeze their eggs at an early age. (this is also assuming women will value their children the same way if they never carry them, like all men)

Then the wall for women will always be later than the wall for men. Because even though women still lose a ton of value (they can be drafted now since they won't be needed to fix the population decline after a war). The objective beauty of the female body plus their skill at anti-aging means men stand no chance at any age. It is at this point that yes FDS is right.

Frankly I think the burden of pregnancy is extremely overrated and just modern day whining, childbirth has never been safer and there is no legion of female scientists trying to create the artificial womb.

Imagine two scenarios. You met a Chad/HVM who you like physically and personality-wise. You go on five dates.
