I came a bit late to that thread about women not understanding men just to check it out, and I was surprised by how many users as a matter of fact discussed the idea that "men don't respect women, even women they love"

This went further into "can you love someone you don't respect (and is it then meaningful at all to the other person)" as well as people having their own definitions of respect which can be expected... and while some interesting conversations developed from the main idea, it was widely taken as a fact.

But I just want to go back to it and ask - wtf? I guess it doesn't match my experience or observation or even common sense that this would be true. Like someone said, most of us have a few people we respect in our lives, you don't need to "respect" everyone you like, but I have not seen at all that men limit that to men only, that they can't/don't respect individual women...

So can someone enlighten me on this, what makes you think this is the case or normal among men?
