I'll be honest, I used to pursue men a lot more because "feminism" but when I realized it wasn't serving me well I stopped.

The issue with women pursuing is that society has already conditioned many men to believe if they don't pursue, they'll never get dates/sex.

Everytime I've "pursued" a guy I've been into first, it's been someone where I'm not really their ideal type but they'll try anyway because women pursuing is rare. And everytime, they've either A) put 0 effort into the relationship B) ended up dropping me for their ideal, someone they have no issue pursuing first or C) used me for hookups and strung me along.

What I'm saying isn't going to be popular here but it's been my lived experience: Women shouldn't make it a habit to pursue first because many men are opportunistic and will take what they can get even if they're not really into you.

And outside of shy types, many of those guys are pursuing girls they're actually into first.

I need to keep coming back here more. I’m not doing really great. I backslid on my sex addiction and hooked up with a bunch of losers off of dating sites who of course treated me like garbage. Hey ladies. So I've been on antibiotics all week with a suspected staph infection on my labia. I went back to the GP and everything they swabbed for (STIs, shingles, staph) came back negative. I was prescribed a few topical creams and another antibiotic (if things get worse) but if nothing improves I'll have to get a biopsy. I'm so scared I'll have some rare form of cancer and have to get a type of vulvectomy :'( Just posting for support

I feel so lonely. I’ve always had a hard time socializing and making friends. That’s why I made lvm and nvm my world. Because at least they wanted to hang out and be with me (in the honeymoon stage).

I’ve been single two years and all my friends are emotionally unavailiable and they never want to see me or put interest in me. I’m tired of always being the interested part, even in friendships.

I’m super close to finishing up my second year of nursing school, i’m almost past the half to becoming an RN!

And i’ve also been working part-time at a nursing home for almost 2 years and i’m loving the useful use of my time! I’ve been getting praise from my superiors at work and it just feels really nice to finally find something I excel at where I also feel comfortable.

I always wondered back when I was in middle school whether i’d actually find true happiness in my future, I was always so anxious and insecure.

If there are any younger girls on here, who are still in high school or middle school, it gets better, it really does.

I found a cause to devote myself to, and i’m happy, I have good friends, I have a fun job, I earn nice money and I don’t necessarily need a man, sure it’d be fun, but i’m perfectly happy on my own.

My LVX wants to cook something elaborate on Saturday to bring to hang out with this new lady he’s seeing. He wants to cook at exactly the time when I will be actively moving all my shit out of the apartment. Through the kitchen is literally the main thoroughfare. He insists he won’t get in the way. Oh and also can I just wait to leave a few kitchen utensils (that are mine) to pack absolute last so he can cook with them?

He has known this day is coming for a literal month and a half. Because of more important scheduling concerns (when my friends can help me move, when the U-Haul can be picked up, when I could reserve the freight elevator in my new building) I will have basically one hour to load everything in the U-Haul. So I had planned on getting all the boxes as close to “out the door” as possible beforehand, ie right in the middle of the kitchen.

I tried to make the point that I am very much the more inconvenienced one since I am having to pack all my stuff, had to find a new place, had to buy a lot of new furniture, and I’m just asking to use the kitchen unimpeded for like an hour. He says “I don’t think the two are mutually exclusive”. UGHHHH

Saturday at 4pm when I never have to interact with him again cannot come fast enough.

I thought I would put this in a seperate post. I am realising that levelling up as a women is not linear. There will be up and downs in our growth, but it's important that we keep pursuing. One of my best choices I have made is to put my social media profiles on private, delete them off my phone and blocking them in my browser. This includes, instagram, discord, Pinterest, Facebook, and yes even reddit. The reason behind this is to encourage active engagement with the media I consume. I personally can admit that I use passive engagement and mindlessly scroll through media. Stopping this has made me more in touch with my hobbies. I even started practicing piano again. I have these media websites on my laptop, however. when I log on I am a lot more aware and present. Like up and downs, I do have withdrawals, but I hope to be better. Its like waking up with a glass of lemon water.

I have been reading Andrea Dworkin's "Pornography: men oppressing women" and whilst it is a punch in the gut to the horrors and the dark intentions behind pornography and men's obsession with it, it's further shaping my values. See you around soon, or on the FDS website

I was very tempted this weekend to reach out to my ex because of the cat. I stayed with our cat because I thought it’d be best for him, instead of having him get readjusted to new living conditions. I also thought since I paid for him years ago when we adopted I should keep him. Lately I’ve been so busy that I haven’t had time to care for him properly and he’s driving me up the wall. This is exacerbated by the fact that he’s tracking litter everywhere, throwing up multiple times a week when my apartment is all carpet, and I’m just getting overwhelmed by the amount that he yowls and messes he makes. He needs tons of attention that I just can’t give. I feel like I’m not cut out to have a pet, I’m tired of the hair everywhere and such. I feel like if my ex would take him, it’d be better for the cat who’s already familiar with him rather than giving him to a stranger. None of my family can take him. I am starting to feel offended and grossed out when really fugly dudes check me out in public. this pot bellied, halfway bald, super pale, messy pube beard scrote in a old t shirt and baggy gym shorts was hardcore checking me out in a store as I grabbed what I needed. I noticed his t shirt was from my college all the way from my home state in my freaking hometown! I wanted to blurt out our college mantra and tell him no way im from (town) and went there too. (I recently moved halfway across the US so I was excited to see someone from my stomping grounds) but I totally stopped myself! I thought to myself he isn't attractive, what is even the point of talking to him and I do not want male friends. not gonna waste my breath.

which again has me thinking: why do women date or give chances to men that we aren't even physically attracted to? the dudes dont all need to be bodybuilders or models but the thing is you need to at least feel some type of physical attraction to a man that you are dating. we need to stop giving ugly guys a chance.

also: im thinking back to when I was in high school and when I started college I was friends with a lot of guys. I essentially was treated like one of their "bros" they included me all the time, and were super honest with everything. the ugly truth was that a lot of them were only friends with me because they found me attractive enough that they were proud of being "friends" with a hot girl when majority of them had nothing to offer in regards to their looks or dating abilities. they knew I wouldn't get with them and the smarter ones realized they could use me to help set them up with my other attractive friends and then pump me for info on how to get into her pants faster. I was so young and dumb I thought I was "helping them" and "teaching them how to date / impress women better" lol I am embarrassed and hate my old self for this. I guess the tradeoff was learning and hearing how they talked about other girls and when they did get girlfriends how they'd potty talk her like she was an object and how they'd loose interest when she stopped being their sex doll. when it came down to it, they were all the same and saw women as objects for their pleasure.

Has anyone ever found out that they've been the "side chick" all along? I just got 2 promotions within 90 days for a job I got right after dumping my LVM ex. Now I make as much as he does with a lower degree and less time in the work force than he had.

How many yellow flags do you allow/ your limit until you end things? I had a previous guy, very kind and the most emotionally open/intelligent I have interacted with, had some yellow flags, such as he asked me on third date if I wanted to split the bill or have him get it. I said you decide. He paid. Date before that he said “if you want to book it, then let me know how much I owe you”, he paid for both of us in the end. There were a few others, smaller things maybe, but they added up for me.

So I was thinking- what about if we had a sidebar where we keep a list of the main Redditers who troll/brigade the most. Kind of like how childfree has a sidebar of doctors and clinics that will do sterilizations. I just got followed (I blocked him) by what I believe is a troll but it took me a minute and if i had a list I could add his name to so other women who might also find themselves being followed my him would also know to block that would be helpful. I know some people might say well this is just giving them attention. No red flag so far but there's a pattern I started to notice. He started to ask me about my work. My NVM dad made a huge financial mistake on my behalf and wants me to "let it go" and never speak of it again, repeatedly deflecting toward me and making up complete lies. Let alone help with the cost of the mistake. I wrote him a letter explaining my opinion which he refuses to read. If I bring it up he tells me to leave the house, which is expensive in money, time, and energy. I can't leave now because I have to finish the semester, but I plan to cut him out after I do. I am finding distancing from male friends hard. These male friends are in my network book for business and work aswell (I have learned a good lesson on not becoming friends with men you also work with) and burning a bridge might have repercussions. Any advice on distancing yourself far enough? Thank you in advance.

Hey mods, is there any way to (by default) sort these weekly threads by live or new again? They used to be sorted like that by default and I liked that better because new comments didn’t get buried due to lack of upvotes.

Could use advice! About six months in with a guy, he’s extremely caring and sweet. He’s very in tune with my emotions and texts me every day. We’re long distance and he has come up to see me often, once staying with me for ten days. He’s also introduced me to his parents twice. I know he’s told his friends about me, and I feel really secure in how he feels about me.

The problem is “the talk.” We haven’t addressed the label to put on the relationship at all. It feels like we blew past it months ago but never actually stopped for it. I don’t know how to start the conversation this far into us dating, even though I feel totally emotionally validated otherwise. What would you do if you were me?

I did it. I finally broke it off with a LVM I was seeing for 4 months [of hell]. All the sudden my anxiety has lessened. I’ve accepted he can’t give me what I deserve and I’m finally okay with being alone.
