For men it's obviously mid twenties. I date men in their early thirties and they all have some signs of aging.

By their mid twenties, men have exited the 'boyish' face and their facial features and beards are fully developed. They also don't show signs of aging yet such as hair loss of wrinkles.

Some men look attractive in their fifties, as do some women. But not compared to their younger selves.

I don't know where this idea that youth is not a good thing associated with men and age is.

A man can typically date women -10 to +5 years. But he can't do that if he's 20, not even if he's 25. So he doesn't reach his full dating potential until around 30+, when he can date women aged 20-40, so he has a much larger population to choose from than when he was 20.

A woman, on the other hand, typically dates men -5 to +10 years. So she reaches her full potential earlier, and when she's 25, she's also interesting to successful 45-year-old men, so that's when she has the most choices.

Then it's about fertility. A man is able to conceive offspring a little longer than a woman. His wall in this direction comes 5-15 years later.

Then it's about the fact that education, career and income are more important for women in men than for men in women. As a result, it is easier for men to maintain their attractiveness to women if deteriorating looks are replaced by growing wealth. A woman hardly has this option.

Well, from a certain age, the fact that men die earlier and thus become rarer, especially healthy ones, starts to have a favorable effect on men. So even if a man is 65 years old, if he is still somehow healthy and interested in women, he has a wide selection.

When I was 19 and in my 20s I was constantly dumped by girlfriends for older men. When I turned 31 my sex life changed dramatically. Since 37 I’ve only slept with women 18 to 27.

Eventually that will change but for sure 30s to 40s is the best time to be a man

The lifestyle a lot of younger women want is becoming more and more difficult to obtain with her and a similar aged partners income. And in a time where living that lifestyle is close to on par with who you're living it with, a significant number of women are open to the idea of dating someone in the 10-15+ age range who has the income, the maturity and only slightly lesser looks...

I look my best now, at 34.

The only thing which looks worse is my skin, which is pretty negligible in my case, and my hair which got thinner at the back, which I'm getting fixed next month.

I'm planning to look even better in the next 3-4 years if nothing bad happens.

To be more specific, men age at a far slower pace than women.

for men the big problems are mostly related to grey hair, balding, low T, getting bellyfat or obese, etc. Which are common ageing or life problems for both genders.

But men have tough skin which (literally) lowers the damage from day to day life. Men have higher Collagen density in their skin. Lower collagen density is DIRECTLY correlated to early signs of ageing. Women in general have lower collagen in their skins.

Another fact men secrete more oil in their skins after they hit puberty. The reason why males have higher oily skins is due to androgen secretion which lasts them even in their 50's! Oily skins protect the skin much better.

Estrogen suppresses oil production in women.

Another indirect advantage men have is they grow beards. Because of this, it protects their face from UV damage a lot better than women. So this contributes to some men ageing well. This is why bearded men shaving after a long time have baby faces. Because it literally looks so out of place! Their body is all gruff and tough looking whereas their face looks like it got stuck in a time machine

And finally the biggest reason: Men don't deal with constant hormonal changes all their life like women do. Dealing with periods for all their life literally takes a toll on women's body. Not to mention birth control pills cause even more unpredictable hormone imbalances

Honestly, one can just look at sports. Most athletes tend to peak at 28-32. In combat sports, it can actually run from about 28-35. I tend to find this is the same for men in general.

However, its important to note that the general peak of many athletes is getting older. Many at the top of their game in most sports are in the 30s to late 30s actually.

There is actually a bit of a pattern forming when high level athletes are actually somewhat getting older, and their younger counterparts are often struggling to compete.

Much of this is due to sports science and the proliferation of performance enhancing supplementation and drugs. Once you reach your late twenties, you become a lot more willing to invest in understanding what habits enhance your longevity and which do not. I tend to find this is why you're seeing quite a few more men these days prolong their youth, but its definitely a "feast or famine" thing. The 30+ year olds who look good look really good and the ones who don't take care of their appearance often look even worse than the average man looked 20-30 years ago.

This is where the wall ends up being somewhat true and, in actuality, it also happens to some men. Some dudes have great genetics but somewhat peak early. Often mesomorphs who are able to fill out young despite a diet of constant junk food. If they're athletes they'll have a great rookie season but genuinely underperform the moment they're met with an injury of any kind. I tend to find women are the same way, so many are bombarded with attention in their youth and never really learn about anything other than using clothes and makeup to enhance their appearance. By the time they reach 28 or so and their bad habits catch up with them they never learn to pivot and often fall by the wayside. I notice whenever I go out clubbing, despite the revealing outfits most of the women looks positively awful whereas in a gym, you can run into quite a few 30+ women still looking good.

You have more time to physically/mentally develop, and acquire wealth, while having the same relative youth you’ve always had. The “I’m 47 and in my prime” idea often found within RP ideology is just a boo-rah “you can do it” for all the divorced guys that need to feel good about something moving forward, you were doing something wrong from the start if you are a more attractive composite then than at 33 years old. I guess the idea that men have a significantly longer “prime” window is true and kind of aligns with the statement. It’s all depends how you age with a combination of lifestyle and genetics. Some men age extremely well and look great, but it’s great for their age. There’s a guy I work with that’s in his 40s, slight recession but still has most his hair, and in pretty good shape too. He’s fine admitting though that he didn’t do anything that special, and he got lucky.

I do think it’s over-exaggerated that dating becomes monumentally easier and the power shifts to the man almost entirely. It doesn’t, if anything the expectations to be datable increase and the very good options decrease even more than in your 20s, unless you’re okay with dating the 200 lb woman who works at Hardee’s with one or two kids which you could probably do in your 20s sans the kids (maybe). It always feels like it’s some revenge fantasy made by TRPers in their anger phase “it’s fine, one day it’ll all be mine and those girls are gonna chase after me when I have my job and stability”, while also talking how bad being a Betabuxx is. If you want to be a better catch, literally the best advice is make money until you can afford ways to make yourself physically attractive looking.

To anyone with any experience both men and women get better with age, mens peak’s are just later than women’s. This is both due to biology and socialization but the factors that make a woman desirable and men desirable are a bit different and both don’t 100% correlate to physical peak. Women are most desirable between 23-35 or so (early 40’s if you don’t care about making babies). They look great, most have a sexual appetite, they are fertile, and they are usually most sane during these years. Men it’s more 32-48 or so, highest earning, most stable and sane, still have physical prowess, highest levels of respect, social status, and earning potential.

Now, for everyone, this is only for people who are high value to begin with, become successful (however that individual defines that), and age well. But for those of us who do, yeah, my early 40’s in shape and moneyed self can pull higher quality women than my just hot and fun mid-20’s self could. Yeah I could pull 8+ in my 20’s, but most of them had a screw loose, major insecurities or was a total clinger. Now I can pull 8+ of whatever age who has her shit together and a good personality, and is cool with us just being casual.

I mean, yeah, I’ve got a few grey hairs and some wrinkles when I smile. My muscles are bigger now, but what I’ve lost in looks, I’ve gained in everything else. I’m better now at everything, except maybe basketball. I fuck better, I’m more interesting, more confident, smarter, funnier, more charismatic, and engender a lot more respect. I still have an insane sex drive, but now have 20 more years experience at everything.

And the confidence thing is the key. Young people think they are capable, they pose as confident, but nothing, and I mean nothing can replace the world showing your that you’re capable, to do what you set out to over and over and over. It’s the difference between thinking and knowing.

Now, this goes away eventually, once age starts to take the looks and the mental capacity, physical prowess, this confidence fades….that happens a bit earlier to women because the whole ability to have a kid is a thing to a lot of women, they start getting the Botox and I’ve seen many women who were stable and confident at 35 become insecure in their early 40’s….same happens to many men in their late 40’s and early 50’s.

And not to sound racist but lighter skin will age faster than colored skin because of the melanin, it's acts as a natural sunscreen for the skin. Dry skin will also show more wrinkles and lines than oily skin. And then your diet and skin care will also play a factor

Most men put on more muscle and more fat as they age, starts around 23-24. If you workout, you'll probably be in better shape at late 20s - early 30s than you did in your teens and early 20s. They can finally grow full beards at this age too and are making a lot more money. The bad part about aging for guys is the hairloss. Wrinkles don't look too bad on a man, especially if he's lean.

As far as the whole "If you're not George Clooney you won't have success with younger women." I've seen a decent amount of ugly old men hook up with ugly young women. It's not like young Americans are in great shape either.

Yes absolutely I’ve seen it with my own eyes, so no one can convince me otherwise.

I am 24M, I’m in a kink group that throws orgies. Dude has PTSD and a limp, has killed dozens of people in Afghanistan, and the 19 year old is head over heels for him. To her he is her soldier who needs her help to heal and nurture him and take care of him. She loves that he’s damaged and believes he “needs” her [she told me all of this]. I was pointing out to her reasons why their age gap would be problematic and asking her if it bothered her that he already lived a life before her having been married/divorced already had adult children her age and she said that’s what she loved about him that he’d already done everything [men and women are opposites, women want a man who has experienced everything, men want a woman who has experienced nothing, which is why he likes her]

Yes his finances, but not in a gold digger way, he is lower class. But just in little ways. For the 19 year old who lives with him, he was able to buy her a desk and art supplies in his house to pursue her art passion and pay for her to go to the doctor and get medicine when she is sick, stuff like that that makes her feel cared for. It’s not the money, it’s what you can do with it.

So you see it has nothing to do with looks (other than him being tall and not fat). This experience has confirmed for me that men really do overestimate the degree to which women care about looks and also misunderstand what “looks good” to a woman, because they make the mistake of thinking women are attracted to the same things men are, youth and physical beauty. Women like the look of older guys (the physical traits of aging and looking older, not George Clooney), salt and pepper or grey hair, some stubble, some wrinkles. They like when men have scars and calluses, because it shows they’ve been through something/life.

It’s purely traits he accumulated from life experience and age.

Men have better chances of aging well. Most men don’t, unfortunately.

A man with good genes, decent skin care routine and a healthy diet will most likely age better than a woman who does the same. Same goes when you compare men and women who have lived equally badly - the man is likely in a better shape.

I have worked and volunteered with elderly people. Most of them have been women. But the men who make it that far are almost always in better shape than women.

Estrogen protects women from heart diseases to some degree, but it has it side effects, too. I wonder if old women would be in a better shape if they had more muscle, because that was usually the issue. And maybe men would outlive women more often if they took better care of their heart.

Oh god no! Most men don’t look like Clooney. And right now Clooney is still ”to old”. Every man that looks good now looked better young. For women my age, men at 30 can be fine, if they compensate through being extra hot. But even men slightly under 30, my prefered dating demographic, it’s not like the ”fine lines” or duller skin is more attractive?

Some men have a lot of baby fat facially and peak later of course, which can weigh up, but honestly, that can apply to women as well even though women can look good with more facial fat than can men. I looked fat in the face when I was at my ”supposed prime” at 17, due to a lot of facial fat, but now my face looks better but without signs of aging at early-mid 20s. But then again, everyone in my family has aged impeccably.

They do if they make an effort (stay in shape, practice proper hygiene, eat healthily, use moisturiser/sunscreen, etc). In my experience, very few men actually do this. I don’t think I’ve met a single man who uses moisturiser.

I think it's part cope and part with the fact that, in society, women lose their value and chance of reproduction with age while men don't as much.

You need a base level of attraction while young when your testosterone changes your face -- if you have a baby face / bad assymetry when you're a young man, ten more years isn't going to change that.

Hair loss, if you have skin in the game, can be a death sentence for tons of dudes depending on their face and status. Whereas I used to see tons of young balding guys get girlfriends growing up, I rarely see it now.

Being on the road you meet tons of dudes in their 30s all over the spectrum of attractiveness / status / maturity. The ones who slay were doing at least alright when they were young.

Depends on who you are asking.

Women in their 40s are generally going to find a man in their 40s more attractive now then when they were in their 20s but if you ask a woman in her 20s she will probably go with him in his 20s.

George Clooney now is probably going to be considered more attractive to a woman around his age then when he was 25.

Women find men more attractive when they are closer to their own age whereas men don't.

Men generally find women in their 20s more attractive no matter what age they are themselves.

Men age slower if they take care of themselves. I wouldn't say they always get better looking as they age but they don't lose their looks as fast as women generally.

This is a mixture of how society views attractiveness and also biological factors.

Men have 20-25 percent thicker skin which makes them less likely to wrinkle compared to women.

Also get wrinkles in different areas compared to women.

They also lose collagen production at a lot slower rate.

Younger men is still better. Older men have a lot of emotional baggage having dated so many women before. The better ones usually get paired up early on, those who get paired up later tend to have a reason to. And a lot of time it's not reasons that make them good partners.

Older men have more ex-gf and ex-wives and that can cause problem.

They usually lost their looks the older they get. Most men are like this. They do age. They are human.
