And again, I ask, why would this be removed? What is happening on these subreddits so frequently it would warrant their removals by reddit? I am going to guess that some institution or news article brought some attention to MGTOW, and reddit is, as it usually does, responding to that attention. If r/FemaleDatingStrategy got the same kind of negative attention, it would be quarantined or banned.

Please find me a post on FDS where in the comment section, the most upvoted post is about how the world would be a better place if male rights would get removed and an entire discussion about whether or not females can be considered human enough to have been given those rights.

If they had indeed gone their own way, it would never have happened. Instead, they all sit there obsessing about women, and no doubt saying loads of really vitriolic and vituperative things. I don't look at that page, but on the odd occasion I have seen it that was certainly the case.

While FemaleDatingStrategy is a load of nonsense, and there may be the occasional off-colour remark, I would be extremely surprised if it is as bitter and hateful as MGTOW.

Reddit is a private website. Reddit is free to have whatever arbitrary rules regarding content that it wants to have.

With that said, if you are not literally advocating violence or extreme shit like that, you're not going to have your subreddit banned.

Where things get a little squishy is Reddit's "quarantine" rules. Quarantine happens when the people in charge of Reddit make a subjective decision that a subreddit's content is "shocking" or "offensive", and therefore needs to be suppressed from view to the general public and only shown to users that opt-in to view it.

It's a completely subjective decision what the general public will find "shocking" or "offensive".

What really happened to the MGTOW subreddit is that it got a mention in the news in connection with a bad guy, and Reddit freaked the fuck out and hurried to suppress it from view. If FDS or Feminism started getting media connections to bad people and were declared to be hotbeds of hate by the media, Reddit would rush to quarantine them, too.

This isn't Reddit moderator bias. It's just Reddit reacting to the media. If you can get a major news network to broadcast that FDS is a hatesite that led to a crazy woman going on a shooting rampage, that'll get them quarantined. But first we need a crazy woman who reads FDS to go on a shooting rampage.

I don't think there's any bias in play. For a crackdown there needs to be one or more of a certain set of patterns, and it needs to have happened for the right amount of time/severity for that pattern or combo of patterns. Even if reddit doesn't formally have a metric for judging these things and operate with a degree of situational flexibility they clearly have a set of ideas and rules that add up to a sort of metric. If TRP had pulled their head in just a bit more on maybe just one or two small things it would probably still be operating on the same basis as any other subreddit.

I think it is also worthwhile considering that individual men probably average more bans from communities than individual women do. Ya'll just more combative and willing to go closer to the brink. Stands to reason subreddits that focus specifically on promoting masculine behavior would also get more bans.

Because it's not about 'the war of the pills'. It's about violation of rules.
If a sub has frequent instances of hate speech, slurs, harassment, persistent and clear prejudice against certain groups simply for existing (eg. women, jewish people, fat people, trans people) - its gonna get quarantined eventually.

I don't frequent MGTOW because it's both vile and nonsense, but on what I've seen I'm guessing the above is why.

Reddit is a business. It doesn't want to be a place where normal non crazy people will just be stumbling across that kind of shit all the time, because they'll go "Oh god, I'm not coming to this website anymore". Hence quarantine.

r/TheBluePill and r/Feminism do not do this. The Blue Pill is just where people post particularly hideous stuff from trp/mgtow/incel subreddits and make fun of it in the comments. The feminism subreddit just.... discusses feminist stuff using feminist theory. Distinct lack of persistent and encouraged hate speech/harassment and prejudice in both of those. So, if a sub gets quarantined. I get that if I click on the MGTOW link, Reddit is going to give me a warning about going there. What does quarantine actually mean though? Like, does it mean that the sub could get un-quarantined, at some later date? Say, hypothetically, the mods there do a sweep through, remove the bad elements, scrub it up and then be "good" for a time period. Could they get off quarantine. I should not be unable to experience that and freedom of expression is just a thing we need, understanding that it comes with both good and bad. Well actually , actual men's rights groups like r/menslib are still up. Because you know, they don't project misogynistic views, or make a persona out of using women for sex. Maybe if r/mgtow didn't perpetuate those ideals they'd still be up.
