I recently had a conversation with one of my colleagues about his experience, going trough the divorce grinder, losing his children, his house and his livelihood. He ended up having to work 3 jobs simultaneously to be able to keep his head above the wawes and pay the monies, allocated by the court to his ex, just to be laughed at by her, alienated from his children and be locked out from their lives (he stopped seeing them, after realized that the constant visitations put too much emotional pressure on his son, who wanted to stay with him but of course, weren't allowed). Before you ask, no, he isn't abusive or sneaky, he never was. He was/is a decent, hardworking, fairly handsome guy with a big heart that is too easy to exploit by a willing person. He is tge preverbial nice guy, without the "covert contracts".

He also told me that he met with other guys in the same shoes during some therapy sessions, some of whom "offed" themselves due to being zeroed out both emotionally and financially.

I believe no fault divorce shouldn't be allowed, when children are involved. Actually divorce should not be allowed (with the exclusion of domestic violence and coercion). You may argue that it's men's responsibility to take care of the children, but where is the women's responsibility who decided to walk away? Why should a man go trough a total destruction of his life, just because the woman decided that she "didn't have her time in her youth"? Why should she be allowed to disregard her duties as a mother (putting her children first), while the law forces the father to carry out his own? No fault divorce makes it all possible, and it's a weak link that is way too easy to exploit.

Of course men do walk away too and i do not support that either. Still though, 80% of divorces are initiated by women, and only about 20-25 percent of all cases is given, in which domestic violence was claimed (this includes claims against all genders).
