Some people, usually women, claim a mature man dating a young woman is grooming or he is manipulating her. This of course implies that young woman has no agency, or she is dating him against her will. Don't take me wrong, some men sure are creeps, and sure as hell they will use/abuse young women, but the majority of men are not like that. Trying to shame a man you don't know is wrong. You never see a man walk towards a woman dating a rich guy and call her a gold digger.

"He is such a creep", "he is manipulating her"... these are just shaming tactics.

What some women think a mature man dating a young woman looks like:

  • Isolating her from her friends and family
  • Coercing her to do things against her will
  • Threatening her so that she cooperates with him
  • Forcing her to do sexual acts with him
  • Lowering her self-steem
  • Physically abusing her

These things do happen, but they are not happening in mass and they are certainly not exclusive to age gaps relationships where men are older.

What a mature man actually dating a young woman is:

  • Pick her up at her house and bring her home after dates
  • Take her out to have a nice meal in a new restaurant
  • Make her laugh and feel special
  • Tale her on trips to new places she had never heard of
  • Introduce her to new life experiences
  • Give her gifts

Generally speaking a young woman dating a man of her choice has some benefits, she gets something out of that relationship. If she couldn't benefit in any way, such association would not take place. See Briffault's law.
