They have good looks, talent, and confidence. They don't have beards, or a muscular aesthetic (most of them, anyway), but I don't think all women require this stereotypically masculine aesthetic to be attracted to a man.

Younger women especially prefer a less masculine, younger look. As women age, they prefer a more masculine look. Studies show that women are most attracted to men close to their age rather than perpetually to men in their early 20s like how men are with women.

For K-pop it's similar except Korean women are fine with muscular dudes as well as skinny pretty boys.

I agree with what everyone is saying, but I'd also like to point out that some of these K-pop guys can be pretty tall as well. I know the members of BTS are mostly in the 5'9-5'10 range which is above the South Korean average of ~5'7 (correct me if I'm wrong).

Also from a quick Google search there are a ton of K-pop stars/actors that are in the 6'2-6'5 range, way more than I was expecting actually, so there's that.

I think being tall is masculine but their slender aesthetic builds with pretty boy faces give a nice feminine touch to that typically masculine physical trait.

I cannot speak for all women but I am attracted to men who are not afraid of femininity and can own it without being emasculated. Kpop idols are talented guys with stereotypically hot bodies, at least for my taste. No two idols are the same, some are jacked, some aren’t. Seeing them hug/peck their guy friends, cook, act cute, be fashionable, wear makeup and jewellery, be emotionally vulnerable…is all extremely attractive.

At the end of the day, it is evident they have masculine characteristics too. They could pin you against the wall if they needed to, if you know what I mean 😏. I am aware that their personalities are curated to some extent, but they mostly seem to be devoid of toxic masculinity.

A clean look also seems more classy and lean more intellectual rather than uses strength for everything. Especially in Asian countries, rough and hypermasculinity can be associated with low class while someone that's soft and less violent is associated with high class.

I think when you're younger it's a sense of safety. These types of guys are always popular with teenage girls, including boy bands, Justin Bieber, stuff like that, babyface cute guys. I think it makes them feel safe compared to a masculine man who's kind of scary when you're a girl honestly.

When it comes to older women, there are variety of tastes. Idk, androgyny can be attractive in both genders, I don't know why. Maybe it provides contrast for your more masculine features, like if you look mostly feminine acting masculine or having a prominent feature of appearance that is very masculine, the femininity is going to sort of emphasize that feature more. Ezra Miller is another example that comes to mind that a lot of women were going crazy over before he turned out to be unhinged lol.

Pretty boys and men are attractive to women. Even to older women - the TV presenter Richard Hammond is a good example who appeals to older women. He's short as well, but lots of women love him.

The rugged masculine look is also attractive. I think the difference is that the very masculine look can be achieved by more men than the pretty boy look. It’s a common belief but it’s also just straight up wrong, and a perfect example of the male gaze.

Men think they have to be huge and muscular and can’t show any weakness. That’s a male power fantasy, not a female romantic/sex fantasy.

Sure, there are women who are into that. But women’s interests are a lot more diverse than that.

I get that K-pop stars have access to things that the average man doesn’t (stylists, dermatologists, plastic surgery, personal trainers, etc) but you can still make an effort and look good without spending that much money - have a healthy lifestyle, get a good skincare routine/wear SPF, get a good haircut/look after your hair properly if you prefer to grow it longer (no 6-in-1 shampoo/soap/shower gel/face wash, use proper shampoo and conditioner) and learn to dress well. Decent hygiene/smelling good also goes a long way.

Here's a different take from women's preferences skewing more masculine as they get older.

Many women have MAJOR sexual hangups, most commonly through family, religion, culture, etc. A girl that was really into me when we were teens shared with me that she was into a type of japanese novel romances called Yaoi.

Even though she was straight, and starting to become very interested in sex, she had a hard time thinking about it because of how scary and intimidating classic male sexuality is often portrayed. She found it easier to read and watch "boy on boy love" narratives to dip her toes into traditional male-female sex.

Funnily enough, these boy on boy stories are primarily written by women FOR women. It appears all women know how to appeal to that subset of women that are straight but have some sort of baggage when it comes to, real or fictionalized, male-female sexual dynamics.

In short, women are sexually attracted to K-pop stars for their softness and (traditionally) UNmasculine image and behaviors. It's a way for women to enjoy men that appear less threatening.

Common belief by who? If you're referring to TRP then most men there acknowledge that "pretty boys" are very popular with women, especially younger ones. TRP gives masculinizing advice because that's what works for the average man. Any guy can hit the gym and get more muscular and work on a "masculine frame", it's much smaller niche of men that can pull off the "pretty boy" look, especially in the age cohort TRP is aimed at. Aging is a masculinizing process and women shift to preferring more masculine men as they age as well, so the only "good" path for the average guy is to embrace masculinity.

Maybe because the pretty boy look is still objectively physically attractive in the sense that they tend to have good hair, are physically fit, have smooth, clear skin, and symmetrical facial features. On top of that they’re popular, fun, and successful.

I’d say on average more women probably prefer traditionally masculine men over pretty boys but obviously pretty boys and especially very successful pretty boys are going to have a lot of success with women too.
