It's strange how difficult it is for some to understand that when someone talks about preventative measures they're not saying rape is OK or that they themselves would rape anyone. What they're saying is that there are people out there who think rape is OK and who do rape. By recommending preventative measures, they're not saying that we should have a rape culture or whatever. They're saying that for some people out there, rape is something they do. That's not OK. Of course it isn't. But it's reality. And it's better for someone to take that into account and do whatever they can to ensure their safety than not doing so.

No, actually it's a mutual partnership, the company that pays them enters into a partnership whereby they take on workers without a right to work - this is illegal. Lately, I've been trying to get out the facts about sexual assault in my state (NC) because of the discriminatory bathroom legislation. All you hear is about how preventing trans people from entering women's bathrooms will protect women and girls -- what about boys and men? They aren't free from assault either.

Also, I'm sooooo tired of cultural conservatives who care little about the rape of the most at risk -- trans women (who face a greater than 50% chance of assault in the lifetimes, often because in places like jails they are housed like men). For some of the cultural conservatives, it's like rape only "counts" if it happens to a straight, white Christian woman or child. Arguing logic and stats does little to change their mind because the "safety" issue in public restrooms that they point to in order to defend discrimination is pretextual to begin with. They can get very defensive about the facts when those facts don't align with their religion and their view of women has helpless creatures for whom bathrooms are a gauntlet of danger they need protection from.

That isn't something you can easily change. Men don't have fewer rights than women, any more than women have fewer rights than men. What actually happens is that men still have the advantage in some areas, while women now have the advantage in other areas. What you see in society is actually a pretty reasonable thing to see after so many centuries of a patriarchal society, after a country has been built from the ground up in a patriarchal manner - the pendulum is now swinging the other way, as a pendulum will do, before coming to rest somewhere in the middle (if we're lucky!). It's getting better but it's a messy process, and things will shift from one extreme to another before the middle ground is discovered.

Countering "we live in a patriarchy" with "men have fewer rights than women" is a pretty silly response.

We all live in an imperfect world, and that will never change. Trying to stop rape from happening is the same as trying to stop car accidents from happening - its basically not possible. I really wish the guy would've taken up the topic of women raping men or women lying about being raped - I would've loved to hear her response. Women lying about men raping them will always be a thing, no matter what we do. It's in the nature of humans to be egoistic and try to thrive off of the happiness of others. All we can do is try and better our methods of finding out who is guilty, in this case. In case of rape, of either women or men, all we can do is teach people of how wrong this is. We can't place cameras everywhere - that is going to cause too much problems with another group similar to "feminazis". We can't up the punishment for rapists, because then women will have more power to falsely accuse men of rape. Neither can we leave it like it is right now, since then men will just rape more. Using examples of stupid people to prove how stupid a movement is, does not in itself prove the movement is stupid. I do wish these types of people were less frequent though. They want something righteous to happen (everyone is happy and can live where they want) but realistically it's not possible and can cause harm if you just let in mass amounts of people to a country. They (illegal immigrants) may not literally steal jobs but they drive down the wage employers are willing to pay for low skill jobs. They don't, in my opinion, have a higher number of violent criminals in their ranks but often, in getting to the country, are already engaged in some illegal activities and associated with criminals and might be coerced or convinced to engage in illegal activities in oder to make an income or pay back a loan.

It's sucks. I wish everyone could live where they wanted or didn't feel the need to flee from one country to another for a better life, but thinking you can just let everyone in with no problems is ridiculous. China would love to send 200 million people to North America for instant citizenship. Do these people think the new Chinese citizens are going to vote in representatives that will uphold their interests and right to their own culture and beliefs for...I don't know, freedom of speech, religious freedom, drug use, right to protest? Will the country be able to handle that many people? Nooope. There has to be a number that can come in, their has to be some attempt at control. It might not be perfect but the effort must be there.

They don't care about reality though, or about immigrants from the countries they don't like or that someone who kinda looks white (racist fuckers by the way) isn't responsible for every atrocity in the last 200 years. They only care about the fact that they feel bad and their immediate solution that makes them not feel bad is based on feelings and not reality.
