I think they're totally fine. I think dumping someone because they age out of your preferred dating rage is a good way to end up old and alone, or have a reputation as a heartbreaker shallow bad boy like Mr. DiCaprio, who never struck me as a catch anyway. Idk what got into those women who dated him, surely they knew better after the third time he pulled this little act, but we've all done stupid things. So I don't care what he does, or what any other celebrity does. Age gaps are nbd, as long as both parties are mature and over the age of 22-23, on average. That is to say, with few exceptions, you're still a kid before that age, and shouldn't be dating someone so much older. And you being mature enough to handle it isn't the issue, the older party has to also be mature enough to know the risks and not be creepy or abusive of the imbalance.

I am 10 years older than my wife, but she is past the DiCaprio Limit. Due to the mistakes of my youth, I had to date much younger in order to have the family I wanted. So far, we are doing quite well and I hope it lasts. I would recommend dating younger women to men but not waiting as long as I did to date seriously.

The only relationships I find toxic are the ones where the woman is three or more years older than the man, with more years increasing the toxicity. I only know one exception to this rule.

When these discussions come up on of the more common things I see from the anti-age gap crowd is that someone’s brain doesn’t fully develop until 25, so they can’t make the rational decisions or realize if they’re being used. Which makes sense to some extent

But why does that only apply to young woman dating old men? I never see these people campaigning to raise the voting age to 25, to give parents control over the childrens finances until that age, to ban joining the military before 25?

Regarding Leo, It's obvious what's going on here.

He likes his lifestyle, you could say he's a Peter Pan, but there is nothing wrong with that.

The women know the score when they enter a relationship with them, when they start to want different things in life other then the party lifestyle it's time for the relationship to end so they can find someone to do the next stage of their lives with.

There are no bad guys or gals here. I knew an extremely wealthy man who lived in Granada, Nicaragua who did quite the same thing, except because it was in an impoverished community each one of his "wives" got a house , continued to run one of his businesses, he even paid for their weddings! Age gaps are fine if you genuinely love the person and their an autonomous adult i.e. above the age of majority (18).

They're not fine if there's an ulterior motive on either side.

Explicit transactional age gap relationships (i.e. old rich man funding the lifestyle of young pretty woman) are cool too as long as both people know what the deal is

The issue is deception and ulterior motives, as it is in all relationships -- age gap ones are just a little more readily apparent and obvious.

Don't really care about DiCaprio dating life, I'm sure his partners know what they're getting into from the beginning and people pay too much attention to celebrities' lives. I'm not a fan of big age gap relationships and it isn't something I'd do myself or recommend anyone else. Others are free to do whatever they like as long as it's legal though and even if I feel icky about some couples, I'm not going to bother them in most cases with the exception for people I know closely and who seem to get abused/mistreated in their relationships.

Having said that I do think big age gap relationships often aren't a good deal for younger partners due to reasons a lot of people have issues recognizing:

The wider is the age gap, the higher are divorce risks.

A five-year age gap statistically means you’re 18% more likely to divorce (versus just 3% with a 1-year age difference), and that rate rises to 39% for a 10-year age difference and 95% for a 20-year age gap.

Father's older age can be a risk factor for kids' health. There was also some correlation with higher autism rates, I can look up a study if you're interested.
Erectile disfunction rates, unsurprisingly, get worse with age.
The study demonstrated that ED is increasingly prevalent with age: approximately 40% of men are affected at age 40 and nearly 70% of men are affected at age 70. The prevalence of complete ED increased from 5% at age 40 to 15% at age 70.2 Age was the variable most strongly associated with ED.
Men have shorter life expectancy. I'd guess a lot of women aren't really into increasing their chances of becoming a live-in care giver or a widow.
Health issues. If a woman marries a man 10 years older than herself she'll have to deal with changes in their lifestyle that happen due to his aging before she gets affected by it herself.
Just a lack of attraction. Few men take good care of their health and appearance, time is ruthless. Wrinkles, balding, and being overweight isn't really attractive to women.

I love how older women behave as if they're going on this "crusade" to warn younger women about older men. I don’t have any issue with it for other people.

When I was younger I could appreciate an attractive older guy. But there is no way I’d date them. I always wanted someone who’s going to age along with me, not someone who’s going to be senile and feeble while I still want to be active. I know I can’t control that fully (illness and injury and such), but with someone around my age I have the best chance of that. Plus I was afraid of the very real stereotypes involved in an age gap.

I think the limit for me would be 7-8 years. When I was 20-22 it was 4 maximum.

My take is that it's to regimented and coincidental that he just happens to lose interest after they hit 25.

A theory is going around that he is actually gay and has an agreement with a model agency. They give him women to make him look straight, and they get a career boost. After five years the contract ends.

The other theory is that he has attachment issues from his fucked up upbringing, and can't commit to a woman. So women just endure having sex with him a little bit and on exchange they get a career boost.
