It doesn't mean though that all women who outearn their husbands have higher divorce risks, only women working on CEO levels.

And the study itself proposes a good explanation for it:

One reason for this, we argue, is that the marriage market and behavior in the early phases of relationships continue to be highly traditional, even in families in which the wife advances to one of the top jobs in the economy. In our dataset of candidates for top jobs, women are usually younger than their spouses, while men are older, and women take the vast majority of parental leave. Both of these factors, which are likely shaped by norms on couple formation and household obligations, mean that a man’s promotion aligns with the expectations and roles assumed by the spouses at couple formation. For women, the promotion instead creates a mismatch between expectations and outcomes, and triggers more stress when roles need to be renegotiated. This argument about mechanisms is supported by the over-representation of divorce among women in couples with a larger spousal age gap in which the wife took the bulk of the parental leave.

And what's even more important:

Neither women's nor men's marriages are destabilized when households are more egalitarian in terms of having a small spousal age gap and a more gender-equal split of the parental leave. This contributes to the discussion on the roots of (and remedies for) the persistent gender divide in career performance (Goldin 2014; Esping-Andersen 2016). It also suggests that social norms on specialization in the marriage market are not permitting women to form the types of marriages that are the most supportive of a top career. Recent surveys of graduates from top management schools in the United States suggest that this situation is not likely to change soon (Ely, Stone, and Ammerman 2014). Even in recent generations of graduates, extremely few students of both sexes expect the woman's career to take precedence in their (future) household. Until social norms permit reversed gender specialization with a female dominant earner, our results suggest that a gender-equal match in terms of age gap, earnings division, and parental responsibilities is the best way for women to avoid conflicts around their progressive career choices.

The difference is they are okay with less than optimum.

Fair.

But I think it's less women are not okay with less than optimum.

It's that female neurosis causes stressors that make her existence "happier single than in environments" that consistently distress her.

For example, many women feel that because men "don't consider many things and contingencies" it falls on her which annoys her. MSM calls this "emotional labor"

Essentially men's lack of careful considerations of myriad factors (lack of neuroticism) makes her more neurotic.

They won't leave their wife, they are actually capable of loving someone they see as less than their optimum choice.

Many men cheat or mentally check out.

"He stayed" isn't the best counter here.

Women cannot be happy in a relationship if she does not think the man is her best option

Nah. But I do think women have more triggers that lead to discontent and resentment it seems. Or women express it more than men.

Nothing is forcing her to be more neurotic. Maybe that is her natural reaction, but people don't always behave according to their natural reactions.

Uhh yeah, that is not worse than him coming home to half his shit and his kids gone. Yes keeping your word counts for SOMETHING it doesn't mean that it is enough to keep the relationship going.

I'm not a guy so I don't have direct experience on how dangerous women is for a guy. I can only take clues from everyone else, which is what I did. People, including men themselves are just not as worried about men interacting with women than women interacting with men. This behavior is consistent across men and women, as well as generations and cultures. It's also common sense if you think about the physical strength difference between the two. Basically, everything in society points to the fact that women should be more careful around men.

I'm not saying there's no threat towards men, we do try to make sure that any girl my brother is dating treats him nicely and isn't taking advantage of him, but the urgency and the amount of caution that every exercises between their son and daughter dating are different. I think it's very obvious that men are considered more dangerous to women than vice versa. I'm surprised there's people that disagree.

Alright, I read a bit of that and I think it mostly comes down to some kind of idea of it being shameful for women to have sex with men, since it implies some kind of power he has over her.

Now this all seem to be antidotal so I'll just use my own antidotes as well. In general, it's very difficult for me to relate to your world view as well as Gridrexx's. It's either a cultural difference or when I read it, it sounds like some kind of mental illness or weird obsession.

So in terms of shame and power. This has never been something I have felt in my life. But this type of thinking might come from the fact that sex for a woman feels more vulnerable, you have a chance of being pregnant, and due to social factors, it's easier for a woman to feel hurt if she has sex with the wrong person. It's absolutely normal for both the mother and the father to be protective of their daughters, since they don't want her to be physically or emotionally hurt. My dad (and mom) really wants to make sure the guy I'm going out with is very well vetted and that's a logical feeling.

Protective however, isn't the same thing as not wanting me to have sex. My dad (and mom) vets people I date and questions them on a lot of things. They do their best to minimize the chance of me being hurt. Both of them are wary at first, but once they are ok with the guy, they're very supportive. Every action my dad takes shows that he's aware and is encouraging of a healthy sex life for us. He's protective not because he doesn't want me to have sex, but because he wants the guy to be great. It's easy as the recipient of such support and love to feel that he wants me to thrive and live a very full life. He does his job as a parent very very well.

We talked about sex when I first reached my late teens and was extremely reasonable and logical. He said try to not be pressured into sex because women are more vulnerable when it comes to sex. But also, if I do get pressured into sex that's ok, because people make mistakes especially when young. I will probably feel bad about it since it's emotional, but in reality unless I got an STI or got pregnant, it doesn't actually change anything in reality. I still remember very clearly him telling me that purity can make me feel good, but it doesn't change anything in reality so don't worry too much about it. Although in the end, I still married the first guy I had sex with since first time's the charm I guess.

Unlike a lot of people online, he doesn't have a chip on his shoulder about sex or sexual relations. It's just a thing that grown ups do, and his daughter doing it safely means I'm having a good life and he encourages it. That is a healthy mindset and the mindset that I have seen growing up, which is why I feel like how you talk is very abnormal and though you have a pretty odd relationship with sex.

I feel like both you and Gridrexx is overestimating men's craziness and complicating sexual relations. Perhaps this is a function of different cultures or social circles, but if that's the case, mine feels healthier.

Years of evolution made men not want their daughters to have sex? I understand and agree with being very protective of who their daughters have sex with, but not having sex? That will be very bad for their linage.

There is a reason "I fucked your daughter/mother/sister" Is one of the worst and most devastating things you can say to man.

Yes, because women are vulnerable, especially when it comes to sex. And assaulting a precious person to you when they're vulnerable makes anyone mad. If you're being antagonistic, the father in this case will think you're bad for his daughter. Again, not wanting your daughter to have sex with someone that's bad for her is not the same thing as not wanting your daughter to have sex. I agree with the first point, not the second.

Men have been punishing female promiscuity since literally the dawn of history and across cultures.

This is more about control of cheating and making sure your children are yours. Women don't like promiscuous men either, they just didn't have the power to control that.

Everything you said have a logical basis (protective, not liking promiscuity) except the father doesn't want his daughter to have sex part. That makes no sense at all. I'm going to insist fathers are very happy if his daughters are having sex with good people.

Also, you married the first guy you slept with. Don't be so sure about his reaction if he learned you slutted it up.

Knowing him I don't think he would've minded, he didn't know until a while into our relationship and he didn't change anything when he found out. Overall it doesn't matter, I'm happily married and we can play the what if game all we want but who knows. All of my friends dated multiple guys before meeting their husbands. I'm the only one that married the first guy I had sex with.

14 year old girls are pretty immature. Girls and guys interact with sex differently, but the average 14 year old girl is also going to make a shitty mom just like a 14 year old buy will make a shitty dad.

In our example a 14 year old boy thinks his daughter could become pregnant while not having sex, I don't think a 14 year old girl will do much better there. She probably also don't know anything about contraception. Early girls, like boys is likely to use sex as a means to spice up their lives and obtain personal benefits, more likely to be selfish with a mindset of "what can I get out of this relationship?" rather than "is the other person also happy in the relationship?".

I'm not an expert in young people and relationships, but from my experience young people are more selfish. But with good reason, children's minds can't even take care of themselves, developing into a teen then an adult is about learning how to take care of yourself and form your own opinions and think for yourself. A teenage mind should be busy learning how to take care of themselves so they can leave the nest, it usually doesn't have the bandwidth to think deeply about others (exceptions apply, but generally it is).

I assume 14 year old boys express sentiments similar to Jim because Jim is a male? I can't really judge Jim just based on very few interactions over the internet, but compared to men in my life, he comes across as more of a teenager in how he thinks about sex.

I think most people as they grow experiment with specific thoughts and try to explain and come up with theories for what they experienced. Eventually they should realize the world is diverse and complex enough that there's no one right way to live it or one philosophy that's always going to be correct. Personally I disagree with a lot of women too on how I live too, I'm not suppressing anything, I'm just being myself.

I think most men do grow up to be mature and wise. People in these communities are not the norm, kind of like how FDS isn't the norm. But they might just be in the process of growing too, and eventually will be wise (hopefully) .

Because men are possessive of the women in their lives and a man fucking that woman is "shameful" (not the most appropriate word but I can't think of something else right now).

This is my observation as well.

1) Men have this "I own you" possessive thing with all women in his life. Perhaps this means they'll protect you? Either way, if you've never experienced the protection aspect, the possession aspect is offensive to most women. Hell, I've seen men protect her from other men and then abuse her himself all the same.

2) They think a man fucking a woman is shameful. I've noticed that not just fathers, but even brothers and male cousins and male friends and sons SHOULD NOT BE PRIVY to explicit "girl talK" because they can't handle it without judging her or wanting to fuck her or both.

Its the same reason sons don't want men other than their biological fathers to ever fuck their mothers.

You have credit when you have a track record of producing millions/billions of dollars. That's why the government bails out corporations rather than throwing the money to the poor who don't.

It’s not forgiveness, it’s just being pushed off onto middle class tax payers.

That's what taxes are essentially for though. If it's more beneficial to keep these corporations in place rather than let them fall, that's what the government is likely going to decide to do. The average person might not understand but corporations are a better and more safe investment than investing in a group of people who produce very little. If you invest 30% of the budget into the middle class and below and see only a 2% return, or even a negative return, why would they keep doing it?

I think it's normal for the medical community to be not sure, it's a new disease and new vaccine after all. It would be more suspicious if their knowledge and numbers never change as more research is done and more strains evolve.

So far only immunocompromised people are recommended to get a booster shot. The original shot is not as effective against delta as the original strain, but it's still effective enough and reduce the severity of your symptoms so you're less likely to die or go to the hospital.

The problem is that having like a third of the population unvaccinated creates very good conditions for the virus to adapt to the vaccine. The vaccine puts enough selective pressure on it, but it still has enough hosts to replicate and chances to mutate to a strain that is different enough from the original that the antibodies created from the vaccines have a tougher time recognizing it.

The recent clamoring for another purge gives me mixed feelings.

I was here for the first one, when pinkgoldrose posted the first (and by far best) purge pic thread, and when LKF was still LKF. It was amazing, but the last few purges have really just been chasing that original high, and falling very short. The last one was actually fucking terrible and got boring before the first day was over, I kind of hoped it would kill the desire for another one.

There were discussions about shortening it from a week (which was interminable) down to just a couple days. But even that would be pretty shit.

I think I agree with death by a thousand cats. The sub has gotten too big and unwieldy. It only had magic when the community was small and somewhat intimate. It's playing with fire and would very possibly get this place banned. Which is probably for the best of everyone here's mental health and productivity, but still.

Which generation do you guys think has probably the worst potential dating market?

I don't really know if mine is the worst, but the Zoomer dating market is pretty bleak

This generation has legitimately the worst social skills of all time. This is the generation that can barely place an order at McDonald's without having a mental breakdown, let alone hold an actual conversation. (yes, I know anxiety disorders are a thing)
This is the one that is gonna/does use OLD the most. That comes with an obvious slew of problems I'm sure I don't need to go over.
The need for validation, however is the worst. This is the Instagram and Tik-Tok generations. This further distorts standards and makes it even worse for everyone.
- If you've ever heard some of these Tik-Toks that people post, it can be hard not to go full RP overdose sometimes
Also not to mention the romanticism of mental illness. There's acceptance, and then there's this stupid shit. No Kaylee, you DON'T have depression. You're momentarily sad, it's called life.

I know what I've said here is pretty generalizing and there are plenty who don't fit anything I said above (like my friends for instance), but damn sometimes I get really worried that this generation are gonna be parents some day. This is really just a lot of venting

Anyway what gen do you guys think would have the worst? What about the best?

Men here complaining all the time how hard life is for men nowadays, but this is evidence that life expectations haven't changed for men as much as for women. Women are less happy because now they need to be 70s women PLUS 21st century men. Sounds like this could be solved if men and women split domestic labor and child rearing, since they are now splitting work (but men will never agree).

All these are just the scientists trying to find an explanation for this. It isn't actually supported by anything. It's why a lot of it is just bullshit. For example, while women do a lot more housework, men work more hours which equals to about the same time "working".Despite that men suffered no such decline in happiness.

The " Maybe we don't measure happiness correctly" Is probably the most blatant example of grasping at straws I've ever seen.

Truth is that dating and marriage are one of the most important factors determining women's happiness.

ehh sorry dude you've just pulled all of that out of your ass. You know more about the study than the experts who conducted it? Very easy to say everyone is wrong except for you with no backing.

Taking care of a household takes WAY more than 5 hours a week. Remember SAHMs? That is their full time jobs. And the article said modern women spend more time with kids that 60s women. Modern women probably have close to zero me-time, while men just fuck around for the remaining 127 hours of their week. Given the rise in gaming, it's rather clear what men are doing while wives cook, clean، and raise children...

Is “Black Pill” to the manosphere simply what “religion” and “humor” are to the Jewish community and the Black community? The recent OP about dealing with racism/ dwelling manospherians made me think about this.

It’s probably why I don’t relate to the wallowing of many of those in the ‘spheres. It’s like no one has ever slapped them across the face and forced them to look at the sun.

A) he died weeks after diagnosis, but he probably had the cancer for some time before that...

The news sources that I've seen have cited that he was only officially battling it for weeks and that it "spread rapidly." I remember hearing the announcement on the radio and they specifically said that the cancer had spread rapidly throughout his body ala multiple tumors that suddenly appeared in a short amount of time.

B) I'm not saying those kinds of fast-acting cancers can't happen, just that's they usually are not associated with "foreign things in the body".

I get that, but this thing/situation isn't a usual thing/situation. I had a feeling that his death was probably linked with COVID.

In other cases with medication, medical devices, cigarettes (or example) that ended up being linked to cancer, it's almost always decades later.

Apparently a lot of people have cancer or cancer cells in their body but don't usually show up or take hold for some time. Its possible that he was in this situation but *something acted as a catalyst for rapid growth in a short period of time. Its unlikely that he just had these tumors for some unknown amount of time and then suddenly found them when he did, as I imagine that he was pretty well taken care of.

This whole story is sad and wild. The daughter and the bf are going to wither away in prison, God willing.

That said, I hate to be that person but a daughter sanctioning the killing of her dad over a bf doesn’t seem that normal. Meaning I totally expect a backstory of trauma.

Other comments in this thread have pointed out he was arrested years ago for basically holding his ex wife hostage at home. Taking her keys, phone, etc. Trying to force himself on her as well during that time.

Daughter would have been 5 or 6 at the time. Depending on how much of this she learned and when, she has possibly hated her father for up to a decade(and rightfully so). Obviously murder is not justified, but it does at least make more sense why she would have either participated in this or at least signed off on it.

Yep. I think Adrien Brody is very, very attractive.

The issue with those 1-10 rating scales is that men are only considering some algorithmic catch-all for facial attractiveness, without considering:

1) ppl find different faces and oddities attractive

2) this is the most important: more goes into visceral attraction to someone than their face. I’ll repeat, at least for women, we are turned on by: his facial hair, hair styling, body type (includes height) and physique, vocal timbre, etc. And that’s not even considering the behavioral triggers like how he comports, interacts, speaks, walks, etc.

Those scales are useless for women because we don’t register visceral attraction simply based on a face. It’s the combo of all of the above.

Which is why guys who fall into that TRM 3-6 facial category and feel “doomed” need to go and touch grass, hit the gym, get styled, take a shot of wheat grass and another shot of whiskey and go try to have a fun time out socializing recreationally with ppl.

You’re assuming those men haven’t already taken steps towards self improvement. The other half of men that choose not to work on self improvement have seen other men go that same route and don’t achieve any noticeable difference, so why should they do the same? Why should they subject themselves to tortuous rejection over and over again. It warps their mind and takes a toll on their mental health and it’s just better to stay out of the dating market. I know that no one is owed a relationship but let me compare self improvement to a college degree. You spend 4 years on a college degree and graduate. Now you feel entitled to a high paying job. The problem is, so are millions of other college graduates and there aren’t enough high paying jobs for everyone. Those same men who worked on self improvement also feel entitled to a relationship but again they’ll face the same amount of competition with other self improved men. This is why people are starting to think college degrees aren’t worth the time investment. There are students who are thousands of dollars in debt with no job or under paying jobs.

Yeah but it's different? I’m lost. Do we agree that “ very few men rape“ and “sexual assault is disturbingly common” are both accurate statements? Then is it fair to say few men are victims of false accusations but many, many more people (both boys and girls) are victims of assault? I mean looking at the probability of any one particular man being an offender =/= to your probability of being a victim.

If you know someone who has already accused dozens of different people of assault and still get taken seriously at accusation #25, I’d be interested in seeing this. The ratio of false accusation to victim is much closer to 1=1, so yes, in both cases the # of perps is extremely low, but the #of victims of assault is not. That IS different.

Similar to driving through a bad neighborhood. The overwhelmingly vast majority of people living there are decent law abiding people, but if a very small minority of violent criminals live in the area, it’s still wise to lock your doors and keep your eyes out. A few criminals can create a lot of crime.

Well in the case of sexual assault and child molestation, if my county has .005% known and convicted sex offenders, you assume there are more that never got caught and convicted, and most of those molesting had multiple victims, it’s pretty easy to start to see that sexual assault isn’t exactly rare. At what point to you start to vet who your kids are alone with? Yeah, my reactions to a one in a million threat are going to be different than my reaction to a 5% threat. A 5% chance? I don’t need half or even 10% of kids to get fucked. Five percent is enough for me to be on alert. We all have different thresholds. To be fearful of a one in a million threat is clearly neurotic, to not be afraid until the threat is 100% is retarded. Maybe 5% is enough that most people teach their kids not to accept candy from strangers? I’m going to base my actions based on how likely they are to be victims, not on how few people they encounter will be perpetrators. Ymmv

How do you refrain from discriminating against the vast majority of decent individuals while also not being a complete fool ? Based on my interactions with Black Pillers the past year I would say my interpretation of Black Pill ideology isn’t just “lookism.” Many of them feel defeated that they’re comfortably anti sociable and high inhib and don’t think it’s fair it’s easier to meet and attract women if you’re the opposite of that. That’s not just a looks issue.

The "black pill" generally refers to a set of commonly-held beliefs in incel communities, which include biological determinism, fatalism, and defeatism for unattractive people.

Okay, while that's true it's also more likely that a more experienced woman is more likely to know what her kinks are and be good at sex for men. That can be true. Although she could’ve also had very bad sex with previous men and doesn’t know how to be “good.” And in no way am I advocating for men to date the equivalent of your high school virgin example. There’s a huge gray area between promiscuous and virgin.

The way I see it, most marriageable men are taken in their 20s. Seems like the single ones approaching 35+ are entering forever bachelorhood. Im talking about women who put career before family and their relationship. Yes, 80 hour work weeks are unattractive from both genders. I don’t think most men would marry a woman who says her career will always come first.

Total household income sounds great until either: the man feels emasculated because his wife makes more money and he can’t provide, the wife resents her husband for her contributing the most financially while still doing most of the homemaking (because let’s be honest, women still do take up the majority of that, even when both spouses work full-time). And if neither of those scenarios happen then once they have kids and the woman has to stay home to take care of her newborn baby, that’s a huge chunk missing from the “total household income” for months on end. And if she has to work less hours to take care of kids, or wants to become a SAHM, that’s a huge blow financially. Unless the husband is willing to be the primary caretaker.

I love how you guys always cite that same IFS study but somehow neglect to mention their other results and the results of other studies: that women who attend church weekly have the fewest sexual partners (these women are also, incidentally, women who are very unlikely to ever have sex with any basement-dwelling Reddit atheists looking for a virgin to marry), that women with more education are less likely to divorce, that women who marry at 30 are much more likely to stay married than women who marry at 20…

… and finally (from the very same IFS), that male promiscuity is also a detriment to the marriage: the more sexual partners a man has had, the less likely he is to describe his marriage as “very happy”.

It’s almost like you only care about the results of these kinds of studies studies when it suits men.

I also want to add that we have similar trends in Russia and it's a whole mix of different expectations and approaches. From one hand, we have an expectation for a man to provide for his family. Some women aren't reasonable in any way and they just see their partners as ATMs. From the other hand, we have men who believe that they don't have to do any domestic chores or raise their own kids although their partners also work full time. And overall there's still an expectation for a woman that she'll do the majority of chores, take care of kids and also work, care for her and his parents (and maybe other elder relatives), take care of the husband (who can't reheat a prepared dinner or remember to take his pills) and also stay positive, kind, gentle and loving. This kind of lifestyle turns you into an iron horse, not into a sweet rose.

So we see a disdain both in men and women towards the idea of marriage. Men who experienced dating a gold digger and women who glimpsed or were in relationships with men who weren't doing their part just don't' want to risk again.
