Why do some low N men here act as if every woman their own age has fucked their way through 8 football teams?

Like the recent post about low N dudes being jealous that the women they're dating have had significantly more sex partners. The solution is to do your best to vet against women who have an N higher than they'd prefer, to eliminate jealousy in the relationship. If a 32 year old guy's N is 3 and he doesn't want to date a woman who has a N higher than him...okay, great. So vet strongly for that.

Guess I'm just confused why so many posts act as though men must be okay with dating women with high N, instead of just saying "okay man, go find a woman who is low N and be happy". It's like the assumption is he won't be able to.

Valentine's Day is coming up in a month, and I've realized I may have set up an awkward situation for myself. Well fuck me! (Not literally.) I managed to jack up my back tonight at work, pulling out the heavy wooden bleachers. It's something I have to do two or three times a week and I never had a problem with it until now (although my union steward said several other people have gotten hurt the same way over the years ... go figure). It sent a bolt of pain across my lower back like backing into a hotwire fence!

On her advice, I went to the MedExpriess and had an X-ray, which came back clean (except I evidently have arthritis and bone spurs ... who knew?). So I get a week's worth of prednisone and muscle relaxers for my trouble, plus a doctor's slip putting me on light duty, although there really is no such thing on my jobs. I took the rest of the night off from the school but still have to clock in at the warehouse four hours from now. Sucks to be me I guess!

The Botox Chronicles: Update 2

Three (?) days ago I got my last PRP treatment, and I scheduled my appointment to get my injectables for the 31st. Being a bear of very little brain, I wrote the date and time on the little whiteboard on my fridge, as I do to keep track of such happenings, but intentionally neglected the subject matter of the appointment. I did not expect my husband to ask me about it, obviously.

But of course he did. “What’s happening on the 31st?”

“Um, I have an appointment,” I initially replied.

“What kind of appointment?” He asked, causing me to freeze up. “And why do you look like you just got caught?”

To my credit, I didn’t technically lie. I thought about lying, then I couldn’t think of a lie before too much time had gone by, and then I felt guilty for thinking about lying. So I admitted it was for Botox. I didn’t mention the intended fillers; I want to see if he even notices them without knowing they were placed.

He made a dramatic expression of disappointment and started giving me an earful about how I’m gonna end up with plastic face and how I’m not aging poorly for a 26 year old and I don’t need Botox.

“I’m not gonna get that much done, I swear. Just a bit in my forehead,” I told him.

“You don’t even have forehead lines!” He said, grabbing my chin and turning my face side to side.

“Well, not right now,” I said. “I just got PRP.”

He scowled, so I continued: “And my grandma says the forehead injections really relax you and make you feel less angry, since you can’t sit around and frown all day.”

That triggered a lecture about how I can’t take any shortcuts to mental health and it’s gonna take a lot of hard work and therapy to get better and that I can’t use this as an excuse to not go and—

“I’m gonna go. I just need all the help I can get right now.”

He just shook his head, turned, and marched up the stairs to shower. Ten minutes later he came back down, halfway dressed, to ask me if I felt “unappreciated.”

“No,” I replied, taken aback. “What could possibly make you ask that?”

“The Botox thing,” he said.

“I just don’t want to look old. That’s all.”

But I don’t know why I’m so bothered by looking old. I keep trying to justify it to myself, why I want to look 18 forever. I want to be treated well, lavished in pretty privilege. I want to still be flirted with when I go to the grocery store. I want to be able to find and lock down a HV partner again when I’m widowed.

But none of these excuses exactly trump the disquieting thought that my a large portion of my self worth is very entangled with something as fleeting (and expensive) as youth.
